  • Yes I have had hypothyroidism for many years. And yes we have to work harder to lose than the normal Joe, even if our blood work shows our thyroid levels in the normal range. I have to move mountains literally to lose but I have had some success, mostly just because I am a person who just does not give up or give in. (hard…
  • I know being a stay at home mom it's hard to get motivated. I was one for many years. However you need to set your priorities and stick to them. Tell your husband that an HRM is the only way to know what you are burning calorie wise. I bought one on Amazon and make sure it's one that counts calories. There are others that…
  • Thanks everyone for your encouraging replies!
  • I have never been diagnosed with this but I definitely perspire more than most. When I am anxious or exercise a lot I my head sweats and my hair gets wet and sweat drips off the ends of my hair. That was really embarrassing when I worked as a substitute teacher. The first couple of weeks back until I settled into a pattern…
  • MFP has me set at 1200 and this is losing one pound a week with plenty of exercise. I seldom lose more than one pound a week and I exercise every single day. I don't know if it is due to my age but I have thyroid disease and I have tried eating more and I gained. Just recently I ate normally with no logging for Mother's…
  • All I can say is WOW! I think you hit on next to every excuse there is, LOL. My excuse for the last 10 years or so has been my artificial knees and my bad back. They kept me from moving. Then I used the excuse of not getting anything I wanted and if I couldn't have things my way then I could eat anything I wanted, feeling…
  • Well I have to tell you that when I joined this I told MFP what I wanted to lose and followed their recommendations as to my calorie counts and macros (carbs, proteins, fats) and did my best to stay within their boundaries. I began trying to get in 25 to 30 minutes of cardio exercise, since I was really overweight and out…
  • I'm a little older than you but I can always use more friends. Add me if you would like a little more encouragement! Has taken me a year and a half to lose just over 100 lbs. You have done an amazing job. I have thyroid issues and artificial knees but neither of them stop me.
  • Okay, obviously I have had some success losing here. This is the only place that has taught me how to lose weight and has given me the tools to do it. I am 65 and I have thyroid disease, that even with medication slows my metabolism. According to my doctor my thyroid hormones are normal but I cannot lose weight like I did…
  • Strawberries, blueberries, half a banana, cantaloupe and cottage cheese, yum!
  • Well I am in the same place as you, I have 21 pounds to my goal weight but all the fat is in the middle. I have tried stepping up my exercise, walk and do so exercise videos (30 day shred available on youtube) and workouts with light weights and I am slowly but surely losing around the middle. Also I try to keep my carbs…
  • Try Chobani non fat yogurts, I could eat one everyday...especially love blueberry!
  • A tremendous amount of the fat is gone and now I have bat wings but I have been doing arm circles nearly every day and working out with light weights and they are slowly improving. May not have complete success since I am an old broad and skin loses elasticity with age and does not bounce back but I am working at it and I…
  • Liver, I despise it! I have always been anemic and they tried to make me eat it as a kid. I hated it and I still hate it!
  • Do you time yourself or what doing these? Okay I see 200 total...I see this was done before but I am in! Okay done!
  • Can someone suggest a protein powder because I DO NOT drink my calories so I have no experience with these?
  • Why not use a whole egg instead of two egg whites? I am not afraid of yolks, lol!
  • I do not completely restrict my sweets but I limit them but when I have an intense craving (like when my daughter made two different kinds of high calorie cookies yesterday) I chew a piece of sugar free gum, I especially like the Dessert Delights. Works for me, didn't touch her darn cookies!
  • I can't tell you how to feel full unless it's eating more fiber...raw fruits and veggies, but when I have a craving to eat and I can't shake it I chew gum. There are so many out there and even some called dessert delights that are fabulous, works for me!
  • I have lost 91 pounds in the last 14 - 15 months. My profile is not private and if anyone wishes to see the pictures, there are some there. I just do this one day at a time and now it has gotten to be old hat. I feel bad if I don't exercise for a day. You can do it too...for sure if I can you can!
  • I am shooting for 150 which some say will make me too thin. I am an older female, 64 soon to be 65. I have hypothyroidism so my metabolism is slow even though I take meds due to this and my age. I personally think anything less than 150 would be too difficult for me to maintain. Used to be 5'8", shrunk now to 5'7". I was…
  • I think you need to eat more and up the intensity of your workouts. Maybe do something different. Shake up your body!
  • Here's a thought...log it before you eat it and when you see how many useless calories you are eating you MIGHT change your mind!
  • I have seldom, in over a year here, eaten many over 1200, I do eat back a few of my exercise calories from time to time but rarely log more than 1300 calories. As you can see I have lost 90 pounds. I consider that success.
  • Yup, I am one of those idiots who is at 1200 calories and does not eat more than 100 calories over that. I have a thyroid disorder and in order for me to lose I can't eat much above 1200. On top of that I'm pushing 65. Now I have lost 90 pounds in a little over a year, so I beg to differ. And don't tell me to try that…
  • Wow you look fabulous darling, LOL. Good job!
  • I'm 64 and my calories are set at 1200. Because I have thyroid disease, and even with meds my metabolism is slow, I seldom eat more than 1300 calories. I tried to eat more when I first started here and gained weight, so I am not going any higher until I reach my goal.
  • I'll have to give this a try...sounds great!
  • Speaking of muffins...I found a good no fat banana oat muffin recipe yesterday and made them, only 103 calories...Now if I could figure out how to post the recipe on here, I would. :ohwell:
