  • I have struggled with binge eating too - it sucks! Sending FR.
  • I'm in. I'm just looking to drop a little - I like to lose slowly. If I could do 5 lbs in the 12 weeks I'd be happy with that (and 5 more later wouldn't be bad either.) SW- 146 -October 5. GW 140 My biggest problem is not sleeping well, which contributes to overeating. I also have an erratic schedule (shift work) and that…
  • This is the only reason it's hard for us too... we are happy with our decision, but we are also in our late 20s and most of our friends are starting to have kids and aren't free to socialize with us like they used to. I'm feeling a bit down about it lately. No desire to follow in their footsteps, but I do enjoy having…
  • Found this group through the child-free thread that cropped up recently. Thanks to whoever suggested this group somewhere around page 6 or 7 :) Nice to meet some other like-minded folks!
  • I vary, sometimes I track, sometimes I don't. I find I can maintain quite well without tracking, although I tend to keep rough count in my head that turns out to be accurate when I put it into MFP. If I really want to tighten up and lose, I usually need to track, if only to better observe my patterns and see where I can…
  • I can see a big difference! Great picture series and progress :)
  • I naturally have around 2 higher calorie days per week anyway... I try to let those fall on weekends if possible. I'd rather accept breakfast and drink invitations and such and enjoy life. That being said, I try not to overdo it (eg I'll go out for drinks but maybe not for brunch the next day), and eat decently light the…
  • 27, add me if you want :)
  • I use this to make mine nice and milky. It works well and as said above it's only 30 calories per cup. I add in a Splenda or two and some fat free half and half. Total cals end up being 70-100 as well. Worth it.
  • If you haven't yet, check out the calculators on Fat2Fit radio and the Fitness Frog sites. They have the BMR calculations you've done already, but also provide caloric ranges for weight loss based on size/age/activity level.
  • Yes that's very low. I also lose on that amount.
  • Here's my game plan for parties/evenings out: 1) Know thyself. If there's certain foods you don't have control with and tend to overeat when stressed/distracted, don't eat them when you're out with friends, especially if you'll be drinking or doing other things. It's very hard to eat mindfully in these types of situations…
  • I see your CW is 177 on your profile - mathematically it seems reasonable to lose 57 lbs in the next 8 months (Feb-Nov), however keep in mind that your last 10-20 pounds may be much harder to lose as your body adjusts to new levels of exercise, food etc. In my experience, which is limited, not having lost a significant…
  • I haven't done that one in particular but all JM workouts I've done have been high-intensity. I would log it as high-intensity/impact aerobics. You know how hard you're working, just be honest with yourself. Or you can always make up your own entries in the database of course.
  • I think this post can also apply very well to other coping mechanisms besides emotional eating. I tend to avoid my feelings by zoning out with TV or alcohol. Or shopping. Thanks for the great information.
  • Great plan. This helps avoid scale anxiety and fluctuations from weekends out, salt, etc.
  • I seem to get hungry every 3 hours, on the dot, regardless of including proteins and fats. So annoying, but I've gotten used to it. It doesn't seem to go away no matter how much I eat. If I eat a big meal I can stretch it to 4 hours. Like many here, I get smack for it, but I shrug it off. Especially as many of those giving…
  • I see you eat coconut yogurt. I'll have to look for that. That's one reason I'm hesitant to give up dairy...I eat a TON of yogurt and I can't easily find a yogurt substitute that's affordable/not full of sugar. I've heard soy yogurt is decent too.
  • Thanks! I've heard the banana ice cream thing is delicious. I'll put quinoa and tofu on my lists.
  • Should also mention I'm allergic to gluten :p
  • I definitely do this. Also make my own beans/rice/salsa bowls. I eat a lot of really basic foods. Slices of cheese (real not the diet kind), containers of cottage cheese or plain yogurt and fruit to give flavor, sometimes a veggie burger or something. For flavor, I use salsas, sour cream, salt etc. The basic stuff is not…
  • Yeah you'll need to drop it probably as you adjust to lower levels of calories and higher activity anyway, so try to eat as much as you can now. Also, weigh food if you're not already, JIC. Not sure if you said you are. I was blown away by how much extra food I ate without weighing it.
  • Your weight loss is more likely slowing down because of a natural adjustment to your new intake and activity, not the BC. That being said, some kinds (I've also heard Depo is a culprit) have produced many anecdotes about gain. I think some of them give people an urge to eat more, especially at first, but they don't…
  • I am so in love with diet Coke it's ridiculous. I know it's not the best for me so I'll routinely cut it out and then have it again. I try to stick to one or two a few times a week. If you can't get rid of it completely try limiting it like any other treat food like people have said. I may shave off a few years but I'll…
  • I want to do this. Haha.. the weigh in is not going to be pretty tomorrow but I will do it. Pretty sure it's higher than my listed CW on MFP.
  • Oh and don't forget outlet stores. Most of the name brands have their own outlet if you live in a big enough city.
  • Macy's makes a nice line of workout pants.. it's just their store brand and they're around $30/$40 each. LL is great but way too much for something I'm just going to sweat all over IMO. Champion is pretty good. Also the local TJ Maxx or other bargain type store might have nice brands at markdown prices. I get a lot of my…
  • I didn't like them either! Really wanted to because they were so hyped to me. But there are other good ones out there that have that level of protein (Think Thin for example) that are somewhat cheaper and taste better IMO. Even the store brands taste alright and many come with 15-20 g of protein now.
  • 250 at least. But we had our big feast last night and it was more like 850.
