Feeling the same, happy for anyone to add and to offer support!

Good luck Kate, I know I should be grateful - I am trying to just be proud of the now nearly 9 months not smoking. Always here for support if you need it. Even today, after nearly 9 months, I had a massive craving that nearly made me cry, But, we cannot give in!!

Thank you all for your posts - sometimes just knowing you're not alone makes everything that bit more manageable. I WILL NOT smoke again and I WILL lose the weight. I just have to accept it might not be a quick as I think!! Huge thank you to your all - means a lot to have support xx

I know that, I stopped smoking for a reason. I'm looking for some positive input from people who have been a similar position and have come out of the other side.

Was inspired to run a timed 5K this morning, but felt terrible when I got up so just did 3K. Managed 14 mins and 50 secs. Won't run again until sunday now - but going for the timed 5K then!!

The only 'race' I have done was a 10K (it was my goal when I stopped smoking!) - 1 hour 7 mins, I felt diappointed but after 4 weeks off running I can't imagine getting there again. Did just over 7K this afternoon in about 47 mins, but that was a mixture of running and walking. Seeing this thread has made me think about…

I started something similar in mid March, never having run in my life. An 8 week programme for 5K The first run was Run 1 min, Walk 2 mins x6. I was constantly looking at the stop watch thinking it was completely unachievable! This week, I went out to do my 30 minute run (part of a 10K training programme as my final goal…

What is C25K??

Outside for me every time. Treadmill is dull and feels as if I'm just runing up and down, there is no distance to it. Outside you get smells and sounds too and the fresh air (watch those flies though). And make sure you have rest days to recover (rest from running not exercise generally). I started running a few months ago…

Training for a 10K in 2 weeks and then London marathon next year

I stopped about 17 weeks ago, same time I joined MFP to maintain my weight, rather than gain after quitting. I smoked ofr 14 years and used the Allen Carr book. My husband used it 6 months before me. He was a 40 a day smoker for 26 years and just stopped. I couldn't believe he had done it but it still took me six months to…

Thanks so much for asking this question. I've been getting very down about 1lb ish weight gain when I feel like I'm exercising well and eating healthily, but this would explain it. Husband keeps telling me to rest and I keep ignoring him...ooops!!

BMI is 18.9 if you are 5ft 4 and 110 lbs ish. Within a healthy range according to the website I checked.

I don't think "you need to see a Dr"...very harsh reaction and not particularly helpful.

I have just started running too and am amazed you can run a mile already!! I'm using an 8 week training programme that aims to run 5K at the end of 8 weeks. I'm on week 1 and am running 1 minute, walking 2 , for 6 repetitions (the programme differs each day, with three rest days, but that is an example). I'm finding it a…

I do a spinning class on a Saturday and find that rest of the day is filled with manically grocery shopping, cleaning the house and washing clothes. Because I'm rushing around I feel like there is no need to structure in an 'exercise' session! Sundays are then normally a family activity and with a three year old boy, it's…

You can see a huge difference - well done you

I'm here because I've stopped smoking and am petrified of gaining weight. Like you, whenever I have stopped in the past, I have gained weight and out of vanity have started again simply to lose the weight. When I've told people this, they think it is outrageous but that was just me. I stopped 4 weeks ago (5 weeks on…

I force myself to weigh in once a week. I know that I could very easily become obsessed if I weighed daily and could start teetering on the unhealthy in terms of my eating. Very hard sometimes to stop myself though!
