I find the social aspect helps keep me engaged, and I like that. Facebook has gotten boring over the last year or so, and this is a great alternative. In the end it's about me, but if I can help motivate others, get support, and have a social aspect, it's a huge bonus.

I am having a terrible day at work, but reading that story made me literally laugh out loud in my office. The kind of laughing where you actually hold your belly. I had two people come in here as I was laughing and reading, asking what was so funny. Thanks for sharing that story. :)

I'm single, and although I know I'll be judged for this, I was involved with someone who was cheating for 3 1/2 years, and it started as what seemed to be a harmless friendship on facebook (someone from my childhood who I hadn't seen in almost 20 years). I certainly didn't expect it to become what it did, but in hindsight,…

About 5-6 cups a day, along with at least 4 liters of water. I pee every 15 minutes at work, lol.

The subject of the post got my attention, lol.

I went to Vegas for my 40th birthday, and wanted to do the zipline on Fremont St. They have a max weight (250lbs) and I was well over that. I knew I had gained a lot of weight, but hadn't weighed myself for almost 2 years. That weekend was a total wake up call. More details here:…

I'd be down for 12,000 in a week, but 18,000 seems a little high. I burn 900-1000 every day as it is. If you really want to watch the calories burn, get on the treadmill and select the manual setting, then choose the highest incline (in my case it is 15.0), and walk at 4.0 to 4.5 MPH. Do that for an hour and you'll get…

Exactly. Lifestyle change. We all love food, and 99% of us on here have a food addiction. There are ways to find a balance. I exercise more so I can eat more, and it has the added benefit of getting me in fantastic shape. I have never felt better in my life, and am now at the point where I quite often treat myself to high…

@littlelma Your eyes. And those puppies are pretty cute too.

Welcome to MFP. If you're committed to it, this works. I'm a firm believer that weight loss is about watching what you eat and exercise. If you need motivation, read a bunch of posts in the Success Stories forum. And add friends for motivation. :)

I try to comment on cardio activity (if it's legit - you'd never see me saying "way to go!" if someone posts they mowed the lawn or cleaned their house), and on weight loss, but never on the end of the day post. The idea of MFP is to be under your calorie goal, so I don't think people need to comment on that.

I'm 40, and always like making new friends around my age.
-
Definitely have one, but not willing to share the name, lol.

Never too late! I started a month after I turned 40, and was extremely out of shape.

Eat healthy (be accountable to yourself) and exercise as much as you can every day. Nothing more to it. Oh, and add some friends on here... having others cheer you on, and doing the same back, can be very motivating.

I have some questions to ask... I am more wondering about what others have experienced. Trying to get to know someone in 5 minutes seems strange, so I am guessing this is going to primarily be attraction based. Anyway, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I ended an unhealthy relationship 6 months ago (after 3 1/2 years of…

Branch Manager for a Plumbing & Heating wholesaler (www.markssupply.net), up here in Canada.

Feel free to add me. 180+ consecutive days, and am obsessive about MFP (because it works!!!)

I was a Coke Zero addict since it launched, and when I started focusing on losing weight, I actually started drinking more of it (probably 4 cans a night). My RMT told me that she read about aspartame tricking your body into creating insulin to breakdown what it thinks is sugar, and that this can cause belly fat. I did…

Feel free to add me. You can never have too many friends!

That's awesome - way to go!!

I've had great success here, and am completely addicted to MFP. Feel free to add me. :)
-
Way to go!! You look amazing.

When I want something like this, I do extra cardio to get it. One of my weaknesses is DQ Blizzards, and I'll go to the gym twice in a day just to have one, lol.

Just outside of Toronto, Canada.

Wow. That's an awesome description.

Legs, since that's all I can see. :)

I did the same thing with my ex-gf, lol. Even told her I was going to buy cigarettes after I dropped her off at her house. As for non-smokers and former smokers chiming in here, honestly, this thread is not for you. I see a lot of people posting things in other threads about people being negative and mean on here, and this…

What an amazing story. I'm going to join your support group on facebook for sure. Congrats on your success so far!

Meeting my father for lunch tomorrow, otherwise no plans. I unexpectedly spent $300 on brake pads for my car this morning, so my entertainment budget is blown this weekend. Luckily the weather is supposed to be perfect here (mid 70's and no humidity) so I think I'll go hiking on Sunday.
