  • Flavoured with no added sugar squash (don't know what it's called in the US). I cannot for the life of me chug down litres and litres of plain water, so I make a very weak solution of squash instead, just enough to take the edge off the taste of all the chemicals in the water (chlorine especially  ) as even filtering…
  • I have a round 10lbs to go to my initial target just now and 26lbs down. When I get there I will re-assess and see if I can get away with another half a stone as "reathing space", but I am 53 now and don't want to end up looking like some craggy, wrinkly old bag like so many women of a certain age do!!
  • 53 next week and no kids............... never had the urge to procreate, but my sister surely made up for it and has 5!
  • I can relate to my avatar. I have always had a big (but shapely) backside and have always been proud of it, despite the crtiical comments of others - and I thought this picture reflected that pride  I have no idea whether it affects the way folks perceive me - and TBH I don't really care!
  • Very eloquently put  My motto is "live very day like it was your last" - I've seen too much untimely death to live any other way!
  • Me at 190lbs in early 2011 Me now at 164lbs - still have about 10lbs to go to target No too shabby for nearly 53
  • My Mum who died 30 years ago this October - I would have loved one last hug before she went.............
  • I have aready answered this question on several other threads so they are out there.... I have both a Fitbit and a HRM. Fitbit is great for challenging you to keep active and does fine for activities which involve stepping like walking and running, but is not so good for activies such as cycling, hiking, weights circuit…
  • 2lbs on this week for no reason, despite drop in body fat of nearly 2% in the past 3 weeks. Rings are tight and shoes are too so it's gotta be water. I am drinking tons - and sweating tons with the exercise - but nevertheless I am hanging onto some it seems! I had the same problem in Greece on holiday a few weeks back and…
  • Face first and I am STILL waiting for it to go from my belly
  • ^^^ This ^^^. Go for it - a great short, sharp, shock, prgramme which I still mix and match with other stuff at least twice a week
  • Soda water and lime usually. I am not really a drinker, but on the odd occasion that I do it is either Disoronno or Tia Maria on the rocks, sipped slowly
  • I take it the legs in your avatar are not yours then? No sign of any saddlebags there! I agree with the posters above, they will go as you lose weight, but sadly you can't lose in one specific place. My bug-bear is my fat belly - everywhere else is not too bad, but I still have a fat, flabby belly. I am doing lots of ab…
  • Well done - a great NSV  This is why I always tell folks to measure as well as weigh........ losses don't always show on the scales, but a loss is a loss!

  • I just draw a line under it and move on. It took me a long time to get fat, so it's going to take a long time to get slim again and one day isn't going to ruin all the good work I put in the vast majority of the time. Life is too short to punish myself with cutting back calories or exercising more etc beause of one bad…
  • Another 5' 5"er here. I started this journey at around 183lbs and I am a currently 162lbs with a goal of 156lb. Will be glad to share when I get on my PC at home and can access photo. Still a work in progress, but I have toned up a lot as well as lost weight, but it has taken me a year thus far so not quick! I am 52 and…
  • I give my Doberman a whole egg complete with the shell just cracked in her bowl and she eats the lot! She in on raw meaty bone diet and I am sure she just thinks the shell is a weak, easily cracked, bone  She is 8.5 years old, healthy as a horse, and at 32kg a perfect weight so it's not doing her any harm
  • Both me and my dear husband have one nipple pierced each - we decided we both wanted the fun. He also has an amazing tattoo around his. We are 53 and 65 respectively and SHAMELESS  Mine healed really quite quickly, but his took ages. He has a ring and I have a bar. Be careful if you use a shower scrubby (one of…
  • I am regular Nordic walker too. Great for toning bum, legs, abs, arms and pecs - and as you put a lot more effort into it than regular walking you do burn the calories at a faster rate. Great social exercise too if a load of you get out together..... talking can be a challenge up hills though - phew! Good for it - I love…
  • There is a Pooch25k programme designed just for this purpose. It is exactly the same as Couch25k, but you take your dog along too - that way you can both get fit without either risking injury! As Lily is getting long in the tooth by Doberman standards, that's what I did with her and she easily runs 5k now
  • I have a Doberman, Lily, and even though she is now 8.5 years old she still runs with me. We live in Wales, and it is very hilly, but she can still outrun me by miles! Did 2.7k with her this morning - she flaked out in the car for 20 minutes and is now raring to go again!! Sadly the weather in the UK this year has been…
  • I would also consider extra cool down stretching too. I have done the shred right the way through with great results (lost 12.5 inches overall and dropped a dress size) and now mix it in with other exercises each week to keep the toning up. I do a brisk 5 minute walk or elliptical before to warm up and then a 15 minute…
  • Because I have more fat on my belly than anywhere else it lookslike I have more to lose there. I am around 10lbs off target now and pretty slim everywhere else, but still have a flabby gut - I HATE it - and what makes it worse is that I can feel a lovely muscly belly under there from all the shredding
  • Pale and freckled definitely, burn easily yes, but not ginger sadly - I always wanted my grandmother's red hair  Scottish ginger paternal grandmother, Irish ginger maternal grandmother, auburn sister and a brother with dark hair but a ginger beard.................. will I do?
  • I have both. My Fitbit is great for motivating me to move more, but my HRM is more accurate for calorie burn. For example, I went on an hour long (mostly uphill) hike this morning and my Fitbit calories were out by around 90 calories (lower) in comparison to my HRM, and the MFP calculation was WAY over (like over 100…
  • Mine is mix of southern English and northern English. I originate from the north, but I lived and worked in London for many years before I moved to Wales 2 years ago (no sign of Welsh accent yet, but it will get there if I live here long enough I am sure!) so I am a bit "cockney" now with a definite northern twang that…
  • Oh yes - when Jillian is making me suffer I grunt alright and cuss at her sometimes too!

  • I'm nearly 53 now and am often told I look like I'm in my forties. I have been lucky to inherit my Mum's genes - she was 59 when she died, but looked like she was in her early 50s. My sister, on the other hand, has inherited Dad's genes and is only 4 years older than me, but many people think she's my Mum not my sister…
  • HUGE fan - I have been watching Dr Who for the best part of 45 years now :noway: and can still remember hiding behind the sofa with my brother when the Daleks or Cybermen came on beasue they were sooo scarey.......... I used to have nightmares about the Cybermen!
  • Yep, this is my mantra too  I was sick and tired of being overweight so I stopped moaning and did something about it. I do think your head has to be in the right place though, especially if you have a lot to lose and your journey is going to be a long one. Nobody can teach you motivation - it has to come from you.…
