  • Oat So Simple honey & almond oats made with skimmed milk and an Earl Grey tea - 204 calories the lot and will keep me full 'til lunchtime
  • I am also a 5 finger shoe runner - what an amazing difference! I have tried barefoot, but I live in the middle of nowhere with a lot of sharp stones, thorns, old bits of barbed wire and other potential hazards around and found that I often came home cut and bleeding so I compromise and run in 5 fingers instead. Like…
  • Entry to the Registry Office was Crazy Little Thng Called Love - Queen Leaving the registry office was Have I Told You Lately That I Love you - Van Morrison Frist Dance was Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Eric Clapton
  • Buy yourself a set of body fat callipers - much cheaper and much more reliable! I actually have scales that supposedly measure body fat %tage, but it can fluctuate by as much as 6% over a 24 hour period - that can't be right
  • I am due to meet Leslie Sansone for a 5 mile walk, walk, walk later  Miserable and raining cats & dogs here in the UK so indoor walking it is!
  • ^^^ This just made me laugh out loud....... not good in a room full of people. SO very funny
  • Anyone else? It looks pretty much like I will stick with the running shoes I have already got. They are comfortable and I don't get sore when I jog in them. If I get serious about runing in the future (and with a bosom like mine I don't think that is likely TBH!) then I might consider the expense of the trip, the…
  • I love Leslie Sansone's walking programmes. They range from one to five miles and you can burn well over 400 calories on the 5 miler in just over an hour! She also has some which incorporate a bit of strength trainingusing resistance bands and they are all available on YouTube. I live in a very rural part of Wales and…
  • I agree. I do Pooch to 5k which is the human/canine version to get me and the dog fit and it is a blast. We both love it and are both SO much fitter now!
  • Yep, always. They may look a tad silly, but a fractured skull isn't pretty and potential brain damage is just not worth the risk. They don't guarantee to save your skull, but it is far better than hitting the tarmac with your head with no protection at all.
  • Eat less, move more, drink plenty of water, but most of all your head has to be in the right place and you have to WANT IT. Good luck on your journey - there are loads of lovely folks on here who will help and support you if you ask
  • I'm 53. I have lost 24lbs andaiming for another 14lbs. I walk every day and jog most days (do Pooch 2 5 K with my middle aged Doberman!). I am fitter than I have been for years and beat the bejabus out of all the youngesters at Zumba class  I did the 30 day shred back to back recently too and kept on it when most of…
  • ^ Ha-ha.... me too, so you are not alone! Oh, and I am agnostic
  • ^ This. Although I do log my tea in my calorie intake too as I have a small amount of skimmed milk in it which has a calorific content (17 cals to be precise!).
  • I have a HRM so I log my exercise calories manually on MFP which overwrites what Fitbit has allowed you. My Fitbit is not always that accurate when I do my Leslie Sansone walking programmes as it only "sees" my steps not all the resistance band work, arm movements etc and my HRM will often record a higher count on…
  • He was only a year older than me - so scarey. RIP big man - time to sleep now boss.......................:frown:
  • My Dad was a "functioning alcoholic" and I didn't even realise he was one until I grew up and realised that nobody else's Dad needed a whiskey to stop their hands shaking in the morning! Sadly my only, and very loved, sister is also an alcoholic. But far from being functional, she is a typical park bench drunk. She lives…
  • ^This. I find the Fitbit over-estimates calories when I do my Leslie Sansone walk programmes as compared with my HRM so I adjust the calories by logging it as an activity (I turn on the stop watch before I start to walk, walk, walk  ) then adjust the calories accordingly at the end of the work out.

  • ^ This. And don't forget to secure it to your trousers if you are wearing it with the belt clip - I lost my first one a few weeks ago just this way so I hook a hair bobble through it now then pin the bobble to my jeans with a nappy pin! I loved it so much that I went straight out and bought a second - I feel totally naked…

  • My lovely Dobie girl is on a combination of raw meaty bones and BARF diet. She is nearly 9 years old now can still run a 5k with me no worries, so I must be doing something right! Treats are dried sausages, pigs ears and snouts - all natural with no additives or preservatives.
  • Lovely sentiments..............thank you  Live every day like it was your last...........................
  • Sigma Omega - has a chest strap and is very comfy. The only criticism I would have is that if you are a larger bosomed lady like myself and wear an underwired bra the wires sometimes cause the chest strap to move and lose connection with the watch mid-workout which is VERY frustrating when you realise at the end of a…
  • I live in Wales - on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park - another beautiful moutainous part of the UK. I love the Peaks and walk there often on holiday
  • As Leslie Sansone would say "walk, walk, walk"! Great DVDs which I use if the weather is pants outside (which it frequently is in the UK of late :grumble: ) I power walk and also belong to a Nordic walking group (very brisk walking with poles). I can burn up to 350-400 calories an hour doing this. I have totally shot knees…
  • Same here - we have a 1.3 petrol microvan and a 2.2 diesel PT Cruiser and the cruiser has way much better mpg than the van - up to 45mpg if I drive it right ....... but it costs nearly £75 to fill the tank now :noway: Even the little van is well over £50 from empty
  • Llandovery is £139.9 for petrol and £144.9 for diesel :grumble: And being so rural it's miles to anything, even a decent supermarket, so you have higher mileage than townies. The nearest bus stop to us is 5 miles away (in Llandovery) and buses are not exactly frequent nor do they go to many places  The nearest Tesco…
  • I use a HRM and burn most on the 4 mile fast walk which includes HIIT sessions where you can chose to jog and jump rather than walk - that is around 385 for me and I am 165lbs.
  • Leslie Sansone walking sessions.................so much more than walking and no jumping involved!
