  • First day of Body Best for me. I can already tell it's going to be tough, but I'm up for the challenge. I look forward to sharing my progress.
  • Hi there. My name is Eileah, and I'm 30 years old.I'm currently 143 lbs and I'd like to lose a bit of weight and gain muscle. I have my goal weight set at 130, but it's just a ballpark, and I'm going to judge more on the way my body looks. I'm doing the Lean Beast workout schedule with added cardio on the treadmill for 30…
  • Hi. I'm Eileah and I just turned 30 a couple months ago. I have two beautiful children. I have been really into fitness the last couple of years, but was recently on a medication that made it impossible to workout. I've been feeling better and decided to go all out and start Body Beast so I could get back in shape. I…
  • Welcome to all of you. I hope you are able to get the advice and support you need from this group. Lupus is a hard road to travel, but having people around that know what you're going through helps. Lots of luck in your weight loss journeys! ~Leah

  • I had forgotten about probiotics. I get the liquid form that has to be refrigerated. I get mine from Swanson's Vitamins. I take it twice a day. Maybe that's what helping me. :)
  • Oh and sometimes if I'm having a hard time, I add powdered fiber (like Benefiber) into any meal I'm cooking, or anything I'm drinking.
  • I have that problem often. And after having kids, I occasionally get hemorrhoids and fissures. No fun! I've had to change the way I eat, A LOT. I've been starting my day with oatmeal, and I add ground flaxseed and chia seeds to that. I eat prunes as a snack. I drink plenty of water and take cod liver oil capsules. I eat…
  • I have freckles and I'm happily married. I think freckles are gorgeous! My daughter has them, and I think it enhances her beauty.
  • Oh, and I'll be starting tomorrow!
  • I'll be doing a hybrid of Chalean and C25k, as well. Already started C25k, but just need to add in the Chalean.
  • That does sound like exercise induced asthma. That's exactly how I feel when I forget to prime with my inhaler before I start working out. I hope that you can get it figured out when you see your doc. I know eucalyptus oil is good for a variety of breathing issues. If you're having problems breathing, you could always slow…
  • I'm doing okay. Blood pressure could use some help, but other than that, I'm doing well! Still getting my workouts in, and hoping that soon I'll drop my last couple of pounds. :)

  • Welcome to all the new members. I don't have a ton of time to sit and welcome each one of you individually, but I look forward to getting to know you all. I hope MFP and the group help you get through whatever hurdles you are currently having with your health. Feel free to add me as a friend. :)

  • The pink one looks amazing on you!
  • Corn bread in buttermilk...
  • I'm between a DD and DDD and I've had the best luck with Moving Comfort bras. They hold me in place without the dreaded "uniboob" effect.
  • Welcome, melkneec. I'm glad you found the group. I created it, because I know that lupies have to approach weight loss and exercise a bit differently. I hope that you find the support you need with everyone here!

  • I haven't had any irritation at all. As long as I mix it with a carrier oil I'm fine. I've use essential oils for other things, too. They're pretty amazing. I have asthma, and I'll use Eucalyptus for it sometimes. Love them!

  • I've been dealing with the shortness of breath the last few days... And OMG headaches. My bp has yet to go back down. Just walking through the house or up the stairs leaves me taking a little break to catch my breath. I have physical therapy twice a week, so I do that with no extra workouts on those days, but I've been…

  • I've been using Rosemary Essential OIl for my aches and pains. I just mix it with a carrier oil, like olive oil, and rub in on where it hurts. No Icy/Hot smell, but you do smell like rosemary for the rest of the day. :)

  • Welcome! And Happy Early Birthday! Lupus is scary, but people are being diagnosed and treated earlier than in the past, so you have to let go of the fear and live YOUR life. Don't base your life on others. I know it's difficult to be positive when you're in pain, so take a day every now and then to feel sorry for yourself…

  • I like number 2. It makes you GLOW!
  • I've heard strength before cardio, so you're able to give 100% during the strength. Your HR does go hope when you're working out the large muscles, so you're getting a bit of a cardio workout as well.
  • I have made snack bites before, and they had oats in them. I'd have to find the recipe, but I'm one to always change recipes. I think you've inspired me to make more, and soon, and maybe add some chia seeds because they're my new favorite!
  • I use protein shakes on the days I don't meet my protein needs. I use Jillian Michael's Whey Protein. It's not super high in protein, only 15g per scoop, I believe, but it tastes good. I'm not able to do soy because of the estrogenic properties. I'm very sensitive to estrogen, and it wreaks havoc on my liver.
  • Also, I eat fruit several times daily. One of my fave healthy snacks. Wish I liked vegetables enough to eat them more than twice a day (which I do, and not with a smile on my face). I have dealt with pre-diabetes in the past, and I'll tell you that I didn't have blood sugar problems because I was eating fruit. I was…
  • I appreciate that you thanked me nicely, instead of attacking me like the other person who quoted my response. I also recently took a nutrition class, and apparently the information that was taught was a bit out of date. I'm a big enough person to admit I may have been wrong. It's always nice when somebody researches a…
  • I'm not sure if somebody mentioned this, but if you are going to take the vegan route, you need to realize that you need to make sure you're eating complimentary proteins. Otherwise, you are going to be protein deficient. Please, please, please do your research. The healthiest way would be to eat some animal protein like…
  • Welcome to the newbies. Diana - Sounds like you have an amazing family and support system! Just keep listening to your body and resting when you need it. :) Louise - Congrats on your upcoming marriage! I have the eye sensitivity, as well, so I have a few pair of sunglasses that I leave in my car, purse and house. Gotta be…
