  • You are MORE than able to go at it alone. You don't necessairly need someone to be there beside you, cheering you on or working out with you to push you--push yourself and they will cheer you on from afar when they comment on your posted workouts! You might just need to set some personal goals. I have a personal experience…
  • I was going to say the exact same thing. Muscle building (at least a physical noticable difference) usually takes about 6-7 weeks to set in, which usually results in about the 1-2lbs a month a previous poster was talking about. I don't necessairly agree that you can't build muscle if you're in calorie deficit. I eat in…
  • On Friday, I started training for my 2nd/3rd Half-Marathons later this year: October 7 and Thanksgiving Day. I'm running about 3-4 days a week, so I'll try to remember to post on here. Friday, 6th: 3 miles, 33 minutes Saturday, 7th: 2.5 miles, 25 minutes Tonight will be another 3 mile run.
  • Congrats on your success! I remember the feeling when I hit the 50lbs mark! Isn't it SUCH a reward? Good luck on the rest of your weight loss journey!
  • I give myself one day a week where I don't worry about logging my calories. I try to save all my cravings for that day and eat clean 6 days a week. Weight training consistently has helped me to not gain weight back when I do go off a little. I don't necessairly agree with eating back exercise calories-I feel like you're…
  • ^^^THIS!!! Why not get off a "diet" and eat towards a lifestyle change? There are no restrictions if you change your lifestyle overall-you just have to learn to manage your portions and eat the right KIND of foods.
  • I disagree with this theory...What's the point of trying to become healthy through exercise if you're going to counteract it by eating a whole bunch of JUNK? Why not try eating CLEANER to lose weight--that might be your issue?? Why not get full off of fruits and veggies, whole grains, and lean meats? Maybe it's your…
  • I agree--I would alternate the days you walk run so it's not as harmful to your joints.
  • Hmmm.... I TOTALLY have experience with this one: 20 Buying too great a variety of foods. Fewer food choices and instilling culinary boredom could be the key to successful weight loss. Researchers reporting in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that when women were offered the same food over and over again,…
  • The first two classes, I did the "New to class" workout, but after that, I just jumped right into the program. I started the program the day I got it in the mail. It's pretty easy to follow along to and the majority of the time she calls out the moves for you so you know what's coming next.
  • I purchased Turbo Fire and did it for a month. I like the program because I enjoy kickboxing as a great quick calorie burn, but I personally got bored with it quickly. Oddly enough, I think I still enjoy running a little more and am continuing to train to run more race. I DID notice that my cardio endurance increased from…
  • Bump for later--about to start training for another half-marathon... I could use some helpful tips!
  • It depends on the day for me, but most days I eat breakfast and then go workout. My work schedule has me clocked in and ready to go at 7am, so I like to wake up slowly on my days off. Every now and then I get in the mood to workout first thing--so when I do, I eat something light- small protein shake or bar, nothing too…
  • Another question: how many movies have you gone to see with him??? Like macho movies/movies HE wants to see? Cause I've suffered through countless hours of movies, Immortals for one, with him because I love him even though I had NO desire to see it... or we usually end up compromising and going to see the comedy vs the…
  • I'll go with choice A. Last night when I got home from work, my boyfriend surprised me by taking me to go see Magic Mike. Originally when I mentioned it to him--he told me to go see it with my girlfriends, but since I've been having a pretty couple of stressful days, he just wanted to do something nice for me. He was…
  • I only was able to look at a few days, but you do seem to have a lot of processed foods. I agree with another poster--try making some switches to healthier choices--like brown/whole grain rice and breads vs white rice and potato bread--both of those are bad starch/carbs and can result in weight gain, and maybe a cereal…

  • If you're concerned then just portion control everything--have 1-2 slices (depending on the size of the slice) vs half the pizza and have a small portion of ice cream. But if you have a plan to combat it, then have a good time and not think about it. But yes, once in a blue moon-even the strictest of clean eaters have a…
  • I had been in a plateau for almost 2 years, so here is my best advice: I recommend seeing a doctor and getting a body composition test done. After getting mine, I saw the ACTUAL number of what is required for me to maintain my weight, which was about 100 calories less than what MFP calculated for me (which makes a huge…
  • I met my boyfriend through a sorority sister in Oct 2010. She had a birthday/tailgate party for our college's football team and she invited him--they knew each other through work. I was in a relationship with someone at the time and left the party early to go meet up with my boyfriend of the time. After the event, he found…
  • I'm mostly a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl. I try to wear cute tops when I can. Every now and then I'll wear a summer dress. I wear a lot more dresses since losing weight and have bought some shorts and skirts this year. But I'm pretty much a casual wear kind of girl. I have been trying to dress up more lately, but I…
  • Thanks! Now I see how to do it! :0) I forgot the back slash on the second img.
  • Apparently I lost a fox! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jhW52aMy8UU/TGMaTZYBnZI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/FwOXUnWDQFE/s1600/redfox.jpg **Okay... I don't know how to post photos... I know something about
  • Give yourself a drinking limit--keep to maybe one or two drinks. I'm don't drink, but that would be what I would do... Then again, I'm a lightweight and 1-2 drinks is my limit anyway. But with the previous poster about drinking water in between each drink--sounds like a good idea to me.
  • I try to keep all my carbs healthy carbs and stick to one serving size of them. I only eat 100% whole wheat bread (read the labels!), brown rice, multigrain oatmeal, or like a multigrain granola (Kashi Go Lean cereal), etc etc and fruits. I try keep my carbs at each of my 3 bigger meals (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner). I…
  • I was actually recommended the Raspberry Ketones from a nurse at work (so I felt the suggestion was legit) and then saw the stuff from Dr Oz while doing some research. I went out and bought some (I've been in a crazy *kitten* plateau for a while-and i feel I eat clean for the most part--90% of the time)...oddly enough-I…
  • Initially when you go on a low carb diet, your body IS going to feel hungry because it's not used to the new stuff you're putting in your body--after a few days your stomach will shrink down and you'll become more satiated with smaller meals (I did Atkins in the past and just started a carb detox on Sunday). Carbs are…
  • I only read a few of the comments on here, but I'm honestly happy that I'm not the ONLY one who thinks the book is "just okay". Initially I was intrigued because a) it seemed so popular and b) I thought I'd connect with the main character since her name was Anastasia (my middle name). I bought the books (which I REALLY…
  • I'm 25. Lost 50lbs already and trying to lose my last 15-20lbs. Feel free to add me!
  • Consider getting a body composition test done. I had been in a pleateau for almost 2 years-- I was trying every exercise under the sun to try to get weight off of me, because I felt like my diet was fine... but after I went and got a body composition test done, it gave me the amount of calories I should be eating to…
