I used to not like salads. I now realize I don't like boring iceburg lettuce salads, and certainly not covered in heavy dressings. Now I make salads most days of the week for lunch! I usually do: - Kale or spinach (1 bunch ofkale is much cheaper than bagged spinach - and tastier) - Cherry tomatoes - Shredded carrot -…

Some people are probably different, but I don't go to the gym to talk to people. My gym is close to work and I always hope co-workers don't decide it's time to start chatting it up. I'm there to get my work done, get sweaty and awful looking, then go home. I wouldn't be rude if someone DID talk to me, but I would go home…

You'll be fine. :) If you feel like you're eating too much of something, just swap it for something else.

People lose weight in different places at different times/speeds. It can be incredibly frustrating! You're probably losing weight in other areas. My hips are the last thing to go down in size when I lose weight. Even my legs will be smaller in my pants, but going down a pants size is a problem because my hips are still…

I only weigh every couple of weeks, at most. I'm consistently working out and eating pretty well. I don't want to feel like it isn't worth it just because the scale didn't move. I just keep striving for a healthy lifestyle and let the weight loss happens as it will. With or without me watching.

Treadmill running for 20 min + 5 minutes walking cooldown. I'm slow (5 mph) but working on increasing length, then I'll work on speed. Then weight machines (legs) for 20 min. Not impressive to most posing on here, but I'm happy with my progress. I do this 4 times a week (alternating 2 leg weight days, 2 arm days always…

I don't bother logging exercise on here. I eat my recommended calories throughout the week (even on exercise days), but I almost always go over on the weekends. It must be balancing out, since I still lose weight. If that stops, I plan to just reassess my weekend snacking.

If you're eating fish, eggs and dairy, I'm not sure how you don't get the protein you need! I'm transitioning back to a vegan diet (ovo veg right now), but being lacto/ovo vegetarian is easy to get protein, let alone with fish. Stock up on greek yogurt, cottage cheese, edamame... check for breads that has a protein as…

I listen to music, but even still, I get SO BORED. Outside, inside, any kind of music, podcast, tv show... I've tried it all, but I still get bored. I just try to stay as focused as possible on the goal. I still keep music going, but I try to get lost in my own thoughts (what happened that day, what I need to do that…

Vegetarian transitioning back to vegan here (currently ovo-vegetarian). My vegan multivitamin has B12, but I also love nutritional yeast and the kind I use has it, too. :)

It made it easier for me, as long as I made sure every "meal" included some protein and some fat. Otherwise, I'd still feel hungry right after eating. After a while I was able to ween myself off of so many small meals and used the calories to go towards dinner or lunch. Now I just do breakfast, maybe a snack right before…

As others have said, there isn't really a magic timeframe to eat. However, when I started cutting calories, I found it very helpful to do small meals (around 200 cals) every few hours. I knew I was going to be able to snack on something soon at any time of the day. It helped me to not feel like I was deprived or starving.…

I don't think I've seen the movie (maybe I did a long time ago, but I don't remember it if I did), but I've been plant based for 5ish years now. I was vegan for about a year and I'm transitioning back to that. Cut out dairy as of this week (that is the easy one for me), but I'm still eating eggs for now. My recipes are…

This is very important to remember. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism when I was 7, but even with the correct dosage of thyroid hormones (as others said, this can take time to achieve - endocrine system works slowly and it is a little of a guessing game) I have to work very hard for weight loss. Harder than…

Yeah, pretty much. I like focusing on food quality as well (I'm certainly not perfect at it, though!), but you can eat all junk and still lose if you are eating less calories than you burn. Eating healthier foods will help you get your vitamins and minerals as well, though.

I need to work out on an empty stomach. I currently go to the gym after work, but when I was waking up early for runs, there was NO way I could eat breakfast beforehand. It would take too long to digest. Plus, peanut butter toast was one of my favorite things to look forward to after running. Mmmm.... That said, my…

You may not need to gain weight, but you are probably lacking in some nutrient(s). Do you take a multivitamin? Getting enough fats and the right kinds are important, too. Vegan omega pills are a big plus. Still see a nutritionist and/or doctor, but these are some basic things to keep in mind.

If you're asking for what size, that varies a lot between who makes clothes. You just have to try them on. I have small, medium, and large tops and they all fit well. Bottoms are even more of a crap shoot. If you're asking about the typical "body shape" (banana, pear, apple, hourglass), wikipedia has an article that breaks…

Congrats!! You will do great, especially with 8 weeks left to go. 5ks are a blast. :) I'm redoing the couch 2 5k right now (after not running for 2 years). It is hard work, so you should be very proud of yourself!! :drinker:
-
You could probably go everyday, but in the beginning you would likely benefit from a day of walking less or not at all every now and then. It all depends on your fitness level. Walking 10,000 steps a day made me really sore when I started being more active! I definitely had rest days every now and then.
-
WOOHOO!! The progress you can physically feel on your body is the best kind! Way to go. :drinker:
-
I completed the Couch 2 5k the first time (redoing it now) almost exclusively on a treadmill. I had never run before! I did 3.5 mph walking and 5 mph jogging. I had the incline up to 3 (not sure what %), since I read it is best to have some incline if you plan to switch to street jogging later on. To keep track of run/walk…

A lot of people use it to sell weight loss. I don't typically use the word because I agree - it is mostly a buzzword. I do tend to research things given the label, though, to see what the pros and cons are. Some are worth adding to your diet, some aren't.
-
^^^^ Totally agree. My definition of "superfood" is just something very nutrient dense. Lots of bang for your buck, so to speak. If someone thinks of a "superfood" as something that will automatically or single-handedly make him/her healthy and lose weight... then no.

I don't really measure things, but here's a favorite dressing of mine. I make one batch and it lasts all week: -1 cup 0% plain greek yogurt -Fresh chopped parsley -Minced garlic (I'm a garlic fiend - I put a lot in) -Fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon, or however much you like) -1/2 tbs olive oil -pinch of salt Mix it up,…

I'm really sorry about the back problems and finding clothing that fit you. Some people joke about this stuff saying "oh, I'd LOVE to have that problem!" but it really isn't fun. If your back issues get too severe, you may want to look into reduction surgery. Weight loss will help reduce breast size a bit, but some ladies…

Yowza! You both are rockin' it! I hope to be like you both in the future!!

I've been a water drinker for years. Funny enough, I started so I could save money instead of buying drinks at a store. I have a 20 Oz. Kleen Kanteen (http://amzn.com/B004PXWG4G) that is insulated, and it is the BEST gift I have ever received. I use it every day for tea and water, and have for the last 2 years. Having this…

Maybe you're close to getting your period? My weight goes up a bit and I am super hungrier than normal around that time. Drinking enough water? If so, then I would just listen to your body and eat a bit more, if you are truly hungry. Keep watching what your weight does. The body does weird things. When I lost my biggest…

I ran for 20 minutes straight today for the first time in years!! I'm re-doing Couch 2 5k, and this is the THIRD time I have attempted the first 20 min straight run. It was slow, but considering I was tired, had a stick for the last 1/2, and REALLY didn't want to set foot out that door, I'm satisfied with my results.
