I run marathons and even on days when I run 20 plus miles I rarely burn more than 2500 calories -- so I think maybe the week is more then 7 days?

I would agree with the consensus in this thread. It is a slippery slope to rely on high cardiac output in the form of exercise to maintain your eating patterns. I have also done a few and agree with the idea of working on your strong points. I am a good runner and not such a great swimmer...it does not seem to matter how much time I train in the pool, I remain mediocre.
