  • I love walking. I'm happiest walking outside, but living in Western Canada there is a good portion of the year when it's uncomfortable/dangerous to do so. So then I walk on my treadmill. One thing I found which totally changed my outlook on treadmill workouts was the interval app, lolo Beatburn Treadmill. You can set your…
  • I'm at 1770 right now, and working toward losing a similar amount of weight as you. Feel free to add me. :-)
  • I totally agree. (I did mention that they take the free fruits and veg into account when calculating your daily points.) I was just trying to explain their rationale. I tend to eat a lot of fruit and veg too - I know that would slow my weight loss down if I was still doing WW. Those calories count whether you count…
  • I think WW has some responsibility for the "fruits and veggies are free!" mentality (actually, that's exactly how most WWers think of it, because on that plan they are - or at least they were when I last did the program). I do think they take into consideration that you will be eating "free" fruits and veg when they…
  • It's the other way around here, too. But that may be because I live in Alberta, and a lot of beef is raised here.

  • Count me in! I'm a mom to three. I did great losing the weight after I had my twins 5 years ago - I got down to 175 - but as soon as I got pregnant with my son, I used it as an excuse to let it all go. And it went. I am now 234 lbs, after a good loss in the first few weeks of this year. Feel free to add me as a friend,…
  • Mopar88, I have the exact same issue. While we all know that others can't "make" us eat poorly, I totally understand the added challenge of having a partner who isn't in the same place with his eating. My husband waffles between wanting to eat better and well...not so much. It's great when he's on board, but when he's not…
  • Full disclosure: I do not run unless being chased. Now that that's out of the way...for those who are looking for a way to make the treadmill more fun, check out the lolo Beatburn app. It is amazing. You can choose walking or running workouts, various lengths and intensities, and it will create an awesome HIIT workout for…
  • Congrats on the huge accomplishment of losing 40 lbs! That's a big deal, and you should definitely be proud of it. Kudos to you for working out with a trainer - that shows serious motivation and persistence. But if it were me, I'd talk to him/her and see if your workout can be modified a bit to make it more bearable. If…

  • I'm in a very similar situation to yours, snoweduponberries. I have three kids (5 yo twins and an 18 month old) and work full time. But you are already doing more, activity-wise, than I am! I agree with those who say you can probably cut down your workout time/frequency to make it less of a burden. An hour 2-3 days…
  • I'm 5'9. I started at 243 lbs (this time). My long term goal is around 160. Two years ago I got down to 178 and was on track to get to goal. The I got pregnant and used it as an excuse to let it go. And boy did it go. Now I'm back here to get back where I was.

  • I'm in! Returning MFP member after regaining all the weight I lost 2 years ago (wish I could blame it on 'baby weight', but the baby is now 19 months - that's all me!). I got a Jawbone Up24 band for Christmas which I already love - anyone else here using one? Name: Michelle Height: 5'9" Starting Weight (1/1): tba Goal…
  • I started eating this salad when I was pregnant (the first time, 5 years ago), but I still love it. So yummy, and full of great nutrition. http://www.todaysparent.com/recipe/no-cook-recipes/full-of-folate-salad
  • An hour. 30 mins of cardio and 30 of strength. My gym doesn't open until 6 am and I have to shower and get ready and be at work at 8, so an hour workout is all I can manage.
  • For those who love HIIT on the treadmill, check out this app. I absolutely love it! It sets up progressively more challenging interval workouts for you and syncs up your music to your workout so your footfalls match the beat. It is awesome! It seriously keeps me pushing much harder and for much longer than I ever did…
  • Feel free to add me. I am mom to three year old twins and work full time. I squeeze my activity in by getting up early twice a week and hitting the gym before work. I also take the kids with me on Saturday mornings (my gym luckily has a child minding area) and go to a couple of classes. It isn't always easy, but it's so…
  • Actaully, there can be reason for it. With multiples pregnancies it is often recommended that mama eat a higher calorie, nutritious diet to ensure adequate nutrition for both babes. I did, and I am quite sure that it's one of the reasons I delivered full-term, normal weight healthy twins.
  • Howdy and welcome from Alberta! :-)
  • 50-60 lbs with my twins. But I was maintaining a high calorie diet in order to ensure adequate nutrition to keep those buns in the oven until they were ready! I lost the "baby weight" within a year after they were born and am now just working on the other 40 lbs of extra weight I've been carrying around for the last 15…
  • I agree with the straw suggestion. Make sure it's a big, fat one. Like, McDonald's drink straw sized. Skinny straws don't have the same effect.
  • I weigh it raw when I can, cooked when I don't have the option. The important thing is that when you look up the food in the database, you choose the appropriate entry. If your chicken breast is raw, choose "boneless, skinless chicken breast - raw" or the like. If it's already cooked, make sure you choose an entry for…
  • If you're able to talk during the workout, 427 calories in an hour sounds about right. (That's just based on my personal experience, FWIW.) Trust your FT7. It's about as accurate a measure as you can get, assuming your info is in there correctly. I agree with jacksonpt. Screw the "fat burning zone" stuff and just workout…
  • I am actually astounded that no one has jumped in here to argue about this. Amazing! Is it too much to hope that folks are actually starting to understand the concept now? Yeah, probably.
  •
  • Check out my lunch from today (my diary is public). Basically, half a can of tuna, mixed with 1 tbsp of balsamic vinegar and 2 tsp of olive oil, over a cup of greens (I like baby spinach and arugula). Plus a banana. 286 cals. Shunggie...bumping means that they are either making it current (ie. bumping it up to the top of…
