I'm on vacation right now, and it is challenging. I personally am not logging my food, but also only allowing myself one special meal per day, the rest of the day I am trying to stay on track. Healthy snacks in hotel room is key. I also found the hotel gym which I am putting to good use. You aren't being selfish, but I…

I have a digital scale. "Health-o-meter" is the brand name. No bells and whistles, but very consistent and reliable. Paid maybe 35 dollars at Target or Walmart. Stay away from analog. They give you false low readings.

I think that getting past the guilt after a high cal day is so tough. It may be the hardest part of a making a true lifestyle change. I used to splurge and then feel like a failure and quit. I'm getting better at seeing a bad day or even week as a natural part of the process. You can always get back to good eating. Also…

I get flare ups when I make bad shoe choices. I was dying this morning after working out in my shape-ups the day before. Dansko clogs and Merrel shoes keep me out of trouble.

Lol! Me too. Fridays are pizza movie night at my house. It is the high point of my week. I circle the kitchen like a vulture.

You can lose weight that way, but as others have said, just weight loss is not necessarily fitness. I understand time constraints, but why not make some small changes now...taking stairs, foregoing junk food, that way, when you are better able to make a commitment to your health you will be that much further along. It's a…

If you don't know what it is then you probably don't have it. Consider yourself lucky! Jq2122 described it very well. It sort of looks like the skin of an orange. Kinda lumpy bumpy.

You should lose weight if you only eat 1200 cals. I personally find it difficult to eat only 1200 cals so exercise gives you the added benefit of giving you more cals to eat. I almost always eat my excercise cals or even a bit more.

Love Old Navy. It's always my "go to" store.

I do loosen the reins a bit on the weekend, but I don't use the weekend as an excuse to eat poorly. Friday is pizza/movie night at my house, so if I feel like pizza, I will eat that. I am finding that I really don't want the junk so much any more. I am just as happy with healthier food. Chocolate and sweets are my…

I'd call that 5000 cals and be done with it! What a burn!

Me too!

The scale was more important to me at the beginning of this journey. It marked progress, and it's good at that. Now that I am where I want to be, I am trying to back off of the scale and measure wellness in other more fun and satisfying ways. The number jumps will make you crazy! I am learning that the scale is ONE tool…

I'm in the same situation. Been 140+\- for several months. My original goal was 145, so I am actually happy at 140. I also think that I have added significant lean body mass with regular cardio and strength training. It sound like you too are conscientious about exercise. Do you think that maybe our body fat percentage is…

Pb cups hands down!

I like my kettlebells for strength training and cardio. Well worth the cash.

I always have good luck at Old Navy. They have a lot of different styles and cuts of jeans/pants. Lots of stretch in the jeans too. Also pretty inexpensive.

Yep. I'm 46 and it took me 4-5 months to lose 25 lbs. I think if you accept the fact that it is going to be a slow process it will be easier. Patience and perseverance are your best friends. Follow the program and see what happens...oh and exercise definitely helps. I could not survive on 1200 cals. Exercise allowed me to…

I recently switched from natural pb to natural ab. I now can't seem to stop eating the almond butter. It is so delicious. I use it as a dip for fruit, crackers, everything. It's a little dangerous. I still love the pb too:)

Diana's bananas (chocolate covered frozen banana, in freezer section) dipped in all natural peanut or almond butter, or chocolate Graham cracker goldfish also dipped in peanut or almond butter. Heaven!

I think the first pic in the black bra is extreme and bordering on man-ish. The one in the white looks nice to me. I think I excercise quite a bit, and I'm pretty sure that I will never look like that. Not a 46 yo Mom:) that's ok though. I can actually see some definition if I look beyond the saggy, stretched, jiggly layer…

They are accurate, but you just have t keep your hands there for continuous readout. I just use it as a spot check. Their numbers correlate with my polar hrm.

Too cute! Great job!

Fantastic! It's really working!

I made a kettlebell category. I do that workout with a 15 lb kettlebell, and my HRM said I burned about 240 .

Middlesex is one of my favorites! I'm now reading Cutting for Stone and it is awesome! It is a great story with lots of medical/ surgical backdrop and references. Love it.
