Nope. My family got used to it, and it no longer seems to even register in their minds. My sister uses one religiously as well. Of course, by "family" I only mean my mom and brother; my extended family members would probably think I was nuts if they knew about it at all. :D

It loses water, not calories.

Neither of these are true. Refined carbs, unrefined carbs, fruit, vegetables, and table sugar are all broken down to glucose (fructose and galactose sugars are turned into glucose by your liver) because that's the form of energy your body is best able to use. The fiber in less refined foods, like whole fruit, vegetables,…

This reminds me, I've tried to swipe my finger against paper books to turn the page. :D I've also tried to poke the screen of my laptop to click on something. Obviously, I'm a little too used to my phone screen!

Both of you are right. :) Because 1 kg is 2.2 pounds (so half a kilo is 1.1 pound), a 500 calorie deficit comes very close to 0.5 kg per week, and is the general "rule of thumb" those of us who measure in kg tend to use. A 250 calorie deficit is roughly 0.25 kg, or 250 grams, per week.
-
This is why I cautioned against a 500-calorie deficit. According to this calculator: (https://tdeecalculator.net/result.php?s=metric&g=female&age=22&kg=55&cm=160&act=1.2&f=1) your maintenance calories are about 1535 calories, and to lose 0.5 kilos per week, as you said, you would have to eat around 1035. Now, while you…

At your current height and weight, you have very little weight to lose (we're talking vanity kilos here, 2-5 maybe?). 0.5 kg per week is too much of a deficit to aim for at that stage of weight loss, because you're already fairly lean. I would advise that you change the weekly aim to 0.25 kilos per week (although I don't…

^ All of this, plus give all of these "Getting Started" posts a good read: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300331/most-helpful-posts-getting-started-must-reads#latest

I did this exact thing today, tossed a dirty towel into the trash. :D

"It's fine to eat butter on a dairy-free diet, but you should never drink milk because milk is an enzyme."

I pulse it in a food processor. :) If I run the processor continuously the cauliflower ends up too fine, so I do about 20 1-2 second pulses for coarse, rice-like crumbles.
-
I recently discovered this myself! 100% cauliflower was a total turnoff for me, it was soggy and not at all like rice. Once I made it 50% rice and 50% cauliflower, I hardly even noticed the cauliflower. :)

Fitbit way overestimates for me. What it gave me as a 500 calorie deficit turned out to be my maintenance! If I had eaten the maintenance number, I would have been gaining weight rapidly. Lots of others have found it to be accurate for them, though, so you'll need to use your own data (calorie intake and weekly weight…

I only eat "protein cookies" as a dessert replacement rather than a protein supplement, because as others have said, their protein-to-calorie ratio is fairly poor. I like them for desserts/treats because they fill me up more than a regular cookie of that size/calorie level would. :) I really like the ONE protein bars (I've…

Glad to hear it!

It's a cookie. I wouldn't call that an appropriate lunch for every day, but then you haven't given us much information. These would help: 1) How many are you planning to eat? 2) How many calories are in the portion you plan to eat? 3) What is your daily calorie goal? 4) Do you have more balanced meals planned for the rest…

I make iced coffee with it. 200 mL strong coffee, 125g canned pumpkin, ~7g pumpkin spice, 25g milk powder, 10 large ice cubes. Blend it all up with sweetener of choice. :)

Cilantro smells and tastes fresh and lemony to me. No soapiness at all!

As monkeefan says, it's a format problem. A calculator isn't going to understand that 12.9 stones is supposed to refer to 12 stones and 9 pounds, it's going to think it refers to 12 stones and 0.9 stones, which is 168 + 12.6 pounds. To convert your weight into pounds, you have to put just the 12 stones into the calculator…

I've never stopped using "Super Great!" since I saw that meme. It corrupted me somehow... :D Every BatCaver gets wished a super great day on their birthdays from me! :p
-
I'm the suckiest, really. Nobody sees me for months at a time! Speaking of which... -waves- Hi, guys!
-
Happy birthday, you two!! Hope you both have super great days.

@purplefizzy Tagging you since you didn't find your way back and I'm hoping this post will help you out. :)

^ I concur with this. I think a lot of people with autoimmune diseases will know of "The Spoon Theory" (If not, Google and read it, it's awesome). Once you've used up all your "spoons", there are no more to be had and pushing through it often just means using them up faster. Then your condition gets even worse for the next…

I'll just add that 100 calories isn't out of the realm of possibilities (although the protein is definitely wrong). I drink a cup of milk tea nearly every morning and spend roughly 110 calories on it (because I use the equivalent of 250 mL of low-fat milk). Whole milk is 70 calories per 100 mL, which is a little less than…

Pretty sure he would have been incredibly dead, incredibly fast, if that were true. :D

My experience, at least with canned beans in my country, is that the nutrition information on beans includes the liquid, so 100 grams is actually logging 50g beans, 50g bean water. That's why it's so low. I either log the undrained weight (because bean water isn't exactly high calorie) while eating the drained beans, or I…

Most diet plans that don't involve any type of calorie awareness use multiple methods to restrict calories without actually telling you that the underlying calorie restriction is the principle behind the weight loss. That's why Slimming World and Weight Watchers and similar programs have so many restrictions around the…

That article was so ridiculous that it made my brain hurt. I couldn't bring myself to read the whole thing! ETA: And just in case this needs to be qualified somehow... I'm fat. And when I see someone else's progress photos, there might be a little jealousy (which I think is fairly normal), and there's a thought of, "You…

I chop and put my herbs loosely in an uncovered container and place it in the freezer. After it's frozen, I cover it. The chopped leaves crumble nicely when I scoop them out for anything, just make sure not to let them out of the freezer for more than a few seconds. Take out, use, place back in immediately. As soon as they…
