  • I'm kind of broke and don't have loads of weight to lose anyway so my only reward planned is a (UK) size 10 pair of jeans from Topshop. But I'm obviously only allowed them when they fit, so... best get moving and saving! I think having none-food rewards for milestones is both important and lovely.
  • Some also are strongly against promiscuous behaviour (i.e. they don't sleep around).
  • This! I mean this in the nicest possible way - nobody cares what you're doing in the gym, people are generally focused on themselves (unless you're doing something really weird ;) ).
  • It's been said already, but find something you actually enjoy doing. I "get through" a 5km jog / 10km cycle, knowing that I'll be warmed up enough by the end to go beat the crap out of the punchbag for 5 minutes. I LOVE boxing and weights, but I only let myself do either once I've done the slightly more boring parts (I…
  • Oh I have another bit of advice that I would do well to remind myself of sometimes - never compare your progress to anybody else's! Be inspired by other people but never try to actually emulate them, and it's counter-productive to assume the secret to their success (there is no secret, they probably just work harder than…
  • With no intention of being a negative Nancy, some days you'll want to quit, or will have the urge for a huge food binge - if you do find yourself indulging more than you intended, do NOT let it put you off, just get back on track immediately and shake it off. I have this terrible habit of letting one bad day bring me down…
  • No longer being in my 20s is motivation in itself...
  • That makes total sense. You need to have your own things going on that don't involve your other half - this is a great one to keep to yourself! Regardless of the benefits of sharing your weightloss journey with others, it's ultimately about you. I endorse the selfishness!
  • What I’d give to be on 2800 calories a day and still lose weight haha. Hello jars of almond butter for breakfast!! Seriously though, give it a couple of weeks and see if you lose anything! The only way to know for sure is to test the theory. Good luck!
  • Can I just point out, at 5ft 4 and 112lb, you're perhaps as small as you should aim to go? You're probably not losing weight because your body is going to shut down if you lose anymore. Just stop for a while with the calorie counting, fill yourself up with healthy food, get some decent sleep, drink a load of water, and do…
  • You have a marvelous mentality, I really hope you can maintain that level of enthusiasm. Hopefully you'll find MFP helpful in your health quest. Always remember that slow and steady wins the race, but don't be afraid to push yourself when you're ready to. Best of luck to you! Louise
  • This. I recommend doing exercise that will build up your thigh muscles and give you a slender look, to improve the shape. Try kickboxing if you can find a class (it's AMAZING for building up thigh strength! I couldn't walk for 2 days after my first few classes!), or if not - cycling, walking, running, resistance exercises…
  • Ha! Good quality black coffee is great, I very rarely add milk, and I never add sugar, I just prefer it that way. I sometimes have some in the afternoon, it kind of feels like a snack. So it definitely helps with my weight loss in that respect! I generally stop drinking it before 4pm though.
  • I fully back this!
  • I'm going to yell and throw things in agreement. I try to not buy it because it's like crack to me, but OHMYGOD I love peanut butter. Don't get me started on almond butter...
  • Hello! I didn't do the C25K but I have built myself up from HATING running to enjoying running about 8km three times a week. My advice, whether doing it off your own bat or following a plan, is to just go for it, regardless of how fast or slow you go. Just to warn you - you'll have some really good runs and some really bad…
  • I find that my rest days are usually well needed, so I don't have the battle in my head as strongly as you do - perhaps you could increase the intensity of your workouts so that you ache more on your rest days, and you feel like you're actually doing something good by taking it easy? Or, if you simply can't sit still, go…
  • Without reading any other replies, I just want to say something, and I mean this is the nicest possible way - nobody cares what you're doing in the gym! Everybody is just as self-obsessed as you are, and rightly so, so grab a good sports bra, a good pair of trainers, some clothes you don't mind getting sweaty in, and get…
  • Totally depends on how you want to look! Do you want to be any smaller, or shapelier? I personally would start focusing on toning and strengthening if you still feel like you have something to change - once you get to within a healthy BMI it seems to make a world of difference to how you feel, more so than weight loss...…

  • Lesson of the day - don't weigh yourself more than once a week! :) You have to stop hating on yourself, just ignore the coke and cookies, move on, and LEAVE THOSE SCALES ALONE until next week. Chin up, it's a long journey, don't do yourself an injustice by giving up so quickly!
  • It certainly is a depressing learning curve! I try to beef my cereal up with low fat yogurt, flaxseed and mashed banana etc, just to make it appear bigger. I think half the battle is realising when you're actually satisfied, and not expecting that familiar feeling of being STUFFED. 'Satisfied' is fine, it just takes some…
  • If you really want an alternative, I sometimes spread a little bit of extra-concentrated tomato puree on toast under eggs, it gives that strong tomato flavour without many calories. There is something very satisfying about dipping things in ketchup though...
  • I definitely couldn't give up ketchup! Unless you're eating a bottle a day and going way over your recommended allowances as a result, I don't think you have anything to worry about. You know what, biggest lesson I've learnt so far - pretty much ANYTHING is fine in moderation.
  • This exactly! It's a great learning curve to find out that you can eat anything really, you just have to earn it or compensate for it.
  • You can definitely see a change in the shape of your face, you're getting more definition in your chin in particular. Great work! Love the lipstick in your second photo too :)
  • Stick with the breakfast, but burn more calories to compensate! I don't know how you can physically get through the day on 1000. I never go below 1400 but exercise a lot so I can eat a lot.
  • I LOL'd, I'm sorry.
  • Completely agree with this. If it's only the diet comments that you don't like about these friends, then stick with them, but keep the dieting to yourself. I find it FAR more satisfying to keep it to myself and get the "oh, you've lost weight!" comments from people who aren't expecting me to look smaller, than from people…
  • I think a firm "PISS. OFF." would be my response! And I think it would be the "little girl" comment that would rile me the most. Well done for keeping your cool! It's the only thing you can do to win when someone is trying to bully you.
