WTH.. is that tiny little puddle of cereal really 30g??

Is anybody else desperately guilty of getting their estimations wrong?
I did the same last night with a baked potato! 400g instead of 200g!

In all honesty I am not that bothered about eating less, just about making sure that I know I am eating more. That way at least I can up my exercise to do something about it!

If nothing else, MFP is giving me an education!

got the same feeling when I weighted my musli, nuts and a bunch of other stuff. The other way around when I measured the veggies though. *sigh* I suck at estimating blindly.

surprised me slightly that I felt full after the recommended 45g of musli, being used to eating twice that. MFP has been good at opening my eyes to what is in food.

lol sadly yes! 30g of cereal is a very sorry sight indeed, it kind of helps to see how we all managed to go so off track when you weigh some of the food though, not that I do much I find it far too depressing weighing out my food.

It certainly is a depressing learning curve! I try to beef my cereal up with low fat yogurt, flaxseed and mashed banana etc, just to make it appear bigger.

I think half the battle is realising when you're actually satisfied, and not expecting that familiar feeling of being STUFFED.

'Satisfied' is fine, it just takes some getting used to...

It is shocking! I weighed my cereal last week for the first time, and discovered it was 70g - compared to the 30g suggested portion! I've had a little less each day since, and am down to 40g today. Surprisingly it felt just as satisfying, so I clearly don't need the amount I was having.

Think I'll stick with 40g however - 30g seems ridiculous!!
