Pretty good article on increasing difficulty on the plank. http://nicktumminello.com/2014/01/the-321-abdominal-plank-and-other-cool-stuff/ http://www.lookgreatnaked.com/articles/long_lever_posterior_tilt_plank.pdf I do some weighted Russian twists. I do them mostly for the mobility workout. I get a lot of core activation…

I found these two videos very helpful. 3 step setup http://youtu.be/GtPN-ftmxG8 Deep squat form. http://youtu.be/zoZWgTrZLd8

Yeah that would be great. I would definitely post here if he responds. Hopefully he thinks about doing an article and getting the word out to others. Pretty huge pool of new trainees out there if you could educate parents about the benefits of strength training. No problem. Thank you for inspiring them and spurring me to…

malnourished or medical issue. Either way doctor visit would be smart.

Bag of Ruffles.

Jalapeno pork hot dog and then a workout? That cant end badly. Yep I would still do it.

Yep. Its not always easy but it is simple.

You are hitting shoulders pretty good with the OHP, side lateral raises, bench and incline dumbell press. I would look at something to target the rear delt more like facepulls or rear delt fly. Just my preference though you might like them and see good results with them.

Eat close to maintenance and start a full body strength training program.

I dont like upright rows myself but the rest looks good.

Well as long as you have an open mind..... B)

BB coach might have fallen for the hype. Adding 20lbs of pure muscle on your frame would put you at elite level natural body builder level. Not sure it would even be possible in a few years. Even harder at 37 years old. If you are legit looking for support then listen to the others on setting realistic goals. If you are…

Power cage over a squat rack. Sometimes the name is interchangeable but they are two different pieces of equipment. Squat rack Power Cage The cage is much more versatile IMO. Pull ups, bench press with safety rails as well as the other lifts JoRocka mentioned and more.

Strength training as possible injury prevention was mentioned in a few of the links I posted here. It is also mentioned in a lot of articles on strength training for the elderly. Hopefully some the info will get out there and people will start to lose their fear of it.

Very true. No one suggests doing research before putting a kid in gymnastics, dance, football, bike riding and so on. The last paragraph in the Mayo Clinic article could be said about any of them. http://www.niams.nih.gov/health_info/Growth_Plate_Injuries/default.asp I am glad there is research on strength training for…

Thanks for the link. Im not sure I understand the distinction between the strength training and weightlifting when they give free weights and machines as options for strength training. I am going to assume they are talking about Olympic style weightlifting as a sport. I still have not seen any evidence that growth plate…

The whole first half of this thread was the research. I would be happy to read anything in regards to growth plate damage resulting from heavy lifting if you have it though. Multiple sources I found claim that it is a myth.…

Yes please.

Personal preference.

Its probably not. Jogging for an hour is probably not what they are talking about. Intense race training multiple times per week that leaves you "exhausted" then it might be important.

That one with the girl and the hoola hoop.

It is not necessary to time your meals around your workout. It will not have any measurable effect on body composition over just getting the same amount of nutrient in with your regular meals. There is nothing wrong with it either. I feel a little "drained" after a good workout and like to eat sometime soon after. There is…

Yes. Now I know why the cat takes a swipe at people sometimes.

WNV spread by mosquitoes they would break out of the cage match and get the spectators also. Bird flu VS Swine flu. Go.

Now you jinxed it. Hopefully they read the links and set there minds at ease. It is a common myth running around though.

Thats awesome. Some serious weight. We are working on the "executed properly" for now. Dont know if they would be interested in power lifting or just recreational lifting like my wife and I. There does seem to be an aversion to weight lifting for kids and even some adults. She could hang from a monkey bar supporting 65lbs…

Thanks and I totally agree. We have discussed not lifting any of the weights or using the equipment without me down there. Same discussion we have had with many things around the house like the oven, scissors and so on. She really wanted to lift that bar for a while before I let her. So far they have listened…

Thanks I think I fixed it.
