Thats funny. Study the difference in fat burn during exercise? Not good enough, gotta look at the whole day. Not good enough. Look, we studied it for 4 weeks. Not long enough. There might be a study that shows a difference in the future with better methods of measuring, reporting, duration or whatever. Wonder if…

Citing studies to back up your position is valid. If someone makes a claim it is also valid to request they back it up with actual evidence more than opinion.

Body weight workout should be fine. If you are not in a deficit I doubt you would lose much if any LBM. So you could just try to maintain for that time. You could also do these when ever you want. http://www.nsca.com/Education/Articles/The-Often-Forgotten-Exercises-Isometric-Training/

Swai, tilapia, farm raised catfish. I like tuna and wild caught salmon but the cooking is much more important and its expensive. Sturgeon is my all time favorite though. I dont think you can just go and buy it though. You gotta go catch it.

So much wrong with this kind of thinking. There is probably thousands of posts on here of people that can figure out why they can get results even though they are "eating clean" , "low carb", or whatever fad they want to follow. You might want to change your way of thinking on this or I dont see a positive outcome for all…

I do a 10-15 minute warm up on the elliptical before lifting. A few times per month I do some conditioning/endurance training if I am not able to make it out hiking or biking for recreation. Weight lifting has more cardio/vascular benefits than it gets credit for.

I do a pretty intense isometric routine at home and love it. Wife just thinks it flexing in front of the mirror though.

Like with all studies I wish the sample size was larger, the duration was longer, the calorie intake was not self reported, the subjects were my exact height, weight, age, fitness level.... :) This study is another useful bit of information, even with its limitations. Maybe the fat loss results would start to show a…

Truth is it is difficult for most people. Its just that grass always looks greener on the other side. The term for those of us that were overweight and cut down is Former Fat Boy Syndrome. Believe me it has its own challenges on top of not making significant gains. We also hear and see tons of stuff about how…

Probably a combination of over doing your workout and a large calorie restriction. How many calories are you eating?

Thanks. I was looking up what you posted the last time I posted a youtube video to try and fix it.

You could try this also. http://youtu.be/us42gs1q_m8

Yes and no. Climbing stairs can be a great strength builder until it isnt. Meaning that once you get the initial strength gains from stepping up on a step (maybe a couple weeks) you will need to increase the resistance to continue to improve. Climbing on a stairmaster quickly turns into cardio/endurance training after the…

"Toning" is a combination of losing body fat (calorie deficit) while retaining/growing muscle (strength training). The elliptical is fine for burning calories and improving heart and lung health but the resistance level is probably not enough to provide the strength component you are looking for. Hip thrusts, lunges,…

:) It was definitely not simple for me when I tried it the first time. In fact I could not get anywhere near parallel. I think that is kind of the point though. Working on getting lower in this movement had a carry over right away to the back squat that I was not getting by just doing more squats, even by lowering the…

Thats a fair point but I dont think there was anything too advanced about the advice. Using a narrow grip overhead squat to help with flexibility/mobility issues in a below parallel back squat. He did the exercise with an empty bar and I just did it with a towel. I think the thumbnail for the video is misleading.

I have no doubt that it can be helpful for people trying to lose weight. It works for a lot of people and some of them take it to an unhealthy extreme. The question is does it lead to a bad relationship with food? What if this was study done on people that were below healthy weight? Would it be good for them to convince…

Power rack and adjustable bench with a full set of Olympic weights will get you a long ways. After that I would get a nice set of adjustable dumbbells.

I have found working on mobility helped more than just doing more squats with lighter weight. I used a towel and did this at home multiple times per day and my comfort at depth increased a lot. I spent some time paused at the bottom and did some adjustments to find out which stance width and foot angle felt the most…

The post was not rude. It answered your question and gave you sound advice. Weight loss will not always be exactly 1 pound per week so dont freak out if its a little higher or lower week to week. The supplements are not going to help you lose weight.

I didnt read that at all. They said its a better option IF you are looking to limit calories.

^This. Good explanation.

It is the calorie deficit that will allow you to reduce body fat not cardio. Keep lifting to get stronger and help retain your current muscle. Add in some cardio if you like. You are already at a healthy weight range so I would not suggest you try to lose very fast if at all.
