  • Feel free to add me too! More friends = more inspiration!
  • This is an awesome thread. Thanks everyone for sharing all your tips—I’m following for more! I also eat when I am stressed/frustrated/depressed/bored—which is pretty much my whole work day. I love the tea suggestions, and recently ‘indulged’ in some quite fancy teas that seemed pricy but make them feel all the more…
  • So many people still focus on one number—total pounds—ignoring how many of those pounds belong to muscle, bone, organs, etc. I always wished mfp would make it easier to focus on metrics other than total weight. For example, if you lost inches on your hips, it would be great to have an automatic status update that shares…
  • Anybody Feel free to add me too! I want to lose 30 as well. Trying to log consistently, eat better food and move more.
  • I love my pressure cooker. It is awesome to have something that tastes like it took hours in a fraction of the time! I got the stovetop Fagor recommended by America's Test Kitchen. I also enjoy their pressure cooker cookbook, the recipes are good and there is also info on cooking times to help you branch out and do your…
  • A friend of mine was on Medifast. It didn't look appetizing at all, and she wasn't enthused about any of it except for one of the chocolate-flavored snack bars. She quickly lost about 20 pounds but then quickly regained when she went back to regular food. GottaBurn's idea sounds a lot more appetizing! I've been trying to…
  • Almost twins... Close enough? ;) CW: 185 GW: 155 H: 5'6" Age: 42 I also made my goal a few years ago but regained much of it, now looking to repeat the past success but make it permanent this time! Anyone Feel free to add me if you have similar goals and want to cheer each other on.
  • Hi, I am renewing my commitment to live a healthy and happy life, and would love some more positive and supportive Mfp pals! Feel free to add me. I am 41, lost 30lbs a few years ago and kept it off up until I met my husband... Looking to repeat my past success and not dwell on my failures.
  • I am stuck at my desk at work as well. I sit on an exercise ball, and that did wonders for my back as I am usually fidgeting/rocking a little on it (whereas in a chair I will sit completely still). I also stand part of the day, and do different variations on leg lifts and calf raises and 'mini' squats every once in a…
  • Hi all, Feel free to add me too! I need more interactive/supportive MFP friends. I find myself looking forward to everybody's comments and postings, and that helps keep me logging in and tracking food/exercise. My goal is to live a healthy life, and that means I am on a slow steady course for positive change. I have 30 lbs…
  • If you are going to embrace your thighs, might as well have strong & shapely over flabby! I've always had seriously deadly thunder thighs (I always had the muscle, and now lots of fat on top of it). They looked the best when I was doing lots of leg work. It made sure they kept the cartoon curves and didn't turn into lumpy…
  • My left leg and side are slightly weaker than the right, because I had an injury a few years ago and have recurrent piriformis syndrome (which is quite literally a pain in the @ss), so I favor my right side. When I was doing physical therapy, my PT had me do extra exercises on the weaker side (usually just one extra set,…
  • Awesome list Trogalicious! #13 is really important and I wish MFP would post inches lost as an update, just like weight lost!
  • AJ, Welcome! Myfitnesspal is an awesome place for shy/introverted people trying to get healthy. You can be as anonymous as you want on here, and that makes it easier to share things you wouldn't ordinarily share with others. There are some people on here who judge, but most people are very understanding and non-judgmental,…
  • Ghirardelli 60% cocoa chocolate chips are a strong dose of chocolate, one serving is 32 chips. Just let them melt in your mouth slowly one at a time, and get that chocolate fix. Alternatively, Ghirardelli cocoa powder only has 40 calories per tablespoon. I mix it iwth skim milk and a little sweetener for a super dark hot…
  • Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. I have been having low motivation and this really helps to know others have done it, someday I will too!
  • I don't have a crockpot, but that is a great idea. I should look into one! Pre-cutting everything is a great idea too. Maybe I'll make a list of all the simple ideas I can find and then try that next Sunday!
  • I like plain whey powder (Bluebonnet and Tera's Whey are good), and add my own unsweetened cocoa powder (LOVE ghirardelli's, it is very dark and rich and only has 20 cal per tablespoon, 3g carb, 2g fiber, 2gfat, and 1g protein). Then I can add my own sweetener to taste (I can't stand the taste of stevia, which is what a…
  • I have about 30 lbs to lose and need more friends so we can all motivate each other. Everyone please feel free to add me! My goal is to permanently change my habits so I can spend the rest of my life healthy and happy.
  • Sorry, I didn't notice earlier that you wrote you are wanting to keep 40%/30%/30% ratio for your nutrients. You might consider vegan protein powder drinks. I have tried a few different ones and they taste ok and should help up your protein count.
  • I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but want to cut down on my meat based protein. A few protein fllled plants I can think of include soybeans (in all its forms), and all other beans/legumes (I love lentils! There are a million fantastic indian recipes for lentils, and HUMMUS!!!! mmmmm), nuts, seeds (including quinoa), and even…
  • Hi all, feel free to add me as a friend too! I tried the 1200/day and every day was a failure... So now I'm trying 1700-1800/day as it seems more sustainable for me over the long haul. I'm not worried about losing fast, I just want to lose PERMANENTLY this time! My goal is to build in more exercise and eat better foods…
  • I need more mfp friends for support too, so feel free to add me! I am not demanding, i just need someone to click like occasionally on my exercise activity and i will do the same for you!
  • Hi, I think you are on the right track, starting with keeping a food diary! I'm an emotional eater too, and I worry about not reaching my goals a lot as well... If you want, you could add me as a friend and we could help cheer each other on (I need someone to click like when I remember to add to my food diary or take a…

  • I have had recurring lower back issues with sciatic/piriformis pain since a snowboarding accident several years ago, and my back health is essential for my favorite hobby, kayaking (lots of twisting and tweaking there!). What I have found is that: (1) correct form is mandatory in everything (even…
  • This to me is the most unfair part about being a woman! We are the ones obsessed with being thin, but it's guys and their danged testosterone that can lose weight and gain muscles so much faster than us. BUT WHOAAAAA HOLD ON---YOU ENDED THE HOLIDAY SEASON AT 0.3 LBS LESS THAN YOU STARTED! That is worth a high five!!!!!…
  • You can lose weight eating whatever you want if you keep the calories low. However, the fine print is you might be miserably hungry at the end of the day from eating whatever you want if it doesn't actually meet your body's needs. And eating what you want won't necessarily make you healthy either. An alternative might be…
  • Yes! I am successful in the weeks I stock up with lots of easy healthy food choices, and doomed to fail on the weeks I don't plan ahead. I have no will power when I am hungry--all bets are off and get outta the way! So, I try to make it easy and brainless to pick something healthy.
  • PS 1 out of 5 people succeeds... 20% of us will reach our goal and keep it. That's a hell of a lot better odds than winning the lottery.
  • LOL. The advice should be 'talk to a good doctor'. Or better yet, talk to a good nutritionist. Regarding my first post about my friends that severely restricted and rebounded with extra weight, I don't even know what exact calorie they were each on, but it was enough that they constantly felt hungry and deprived and crabby…
