I use to think you had to starve to lose weight. When it came to working out I use to think there was things I was not capable of doing and that was for "fit" people. Not understanding doing those things (even if I had to modify in the beginning) is what gets fit people fit.

Measure. The first two months on MFP I did not see the scale move. But I measured weekly waist, thighs, hips, etc... Every week I lost a 1/2 inch to an inch over all. The scale does not tell the whole story.

If you like Beer try Mich Ultra. 96 calories and 2.6 carbs. I can have 3 beers instead of one small cocktail. But that is just me. I like beer. :) Also agree with Lugemachine above. One night won't derail your progress. Have fun!

^^^^^ This!!!! When people talk about this subject on MFP this is never discussed. There is a big difference between grossing 1200 calories or netting 1200 calories. I netted 1200 calories yesterday but I ate 1675. Big difference.

I say this is the nicest way. If you don't like the way the site is designed then don't use it. Why try to change it when it is working for so many others. Find a site that is set up how you want it to be. I like MFP. Understand how it is supposed to work. And it works for me.

I don't want MFP to change. The way MFP is designed is working for me. I don't think they want you to eat 1200 calories. I think they set you at that if you are not going to move all day.
