  • I wish I had taken the advice to lift weights long before 40. I also have a thyroid problem. So gaining weight is very easy. I basically was a cardio queen and losing weight slowly. Then I started with weights. You can look at a picture I have posted under my profile. The first one was when I did walking and cardio tapes.…
  • Lift heavy. You will change your whole body.
  • Orange is the new black, Mad Men but my all time favorite is Son's of Anarchy. If you ever were a Soprano's fan this is like that show except a biker gang instead. GREAT show. I should also mention that Son's of Anarchy did make me stay on the treadmill longer than I planned because I was so into the show.
  • Congratulations! That is incredible!
  • I use to be a cardio queen. Then I did P90X and watched my whole body changed for the better.
  • Stronger by Kelly Clarkson and of course Eye of the Tiger from Rocky.
  • My opinion only because it is what worked for me. Calories in vs. Calories out. Losing weight is 80% what you eat and 20% activity. Exercise is for your health and to earn more calories to eat. Diet alone can result in weight loss. Working out helped me for two reasons. One, I wanted to eat more. Two, because I wanted to…
  • Almonds, Greek Yogurt, Sharp White Cheddar and Cottage cheese with pineapple. Those are my 4 main snacks. If I eat sugary snacks with no protein I am just hungry again and not satisfied.

  • Why I went with the Fitbit One. Heard very crappy reviews on the clasp of the flex, people losing them, and that they don't think it counts steps as accurately.
  • When I first started on MFP I did not understand. Was only eating 1200 calories a day, felt terrible, was always hungry and could hardly make it through my workouts. After reading the forums I started eating back my exercise calories. It worked for me. Plus it is a sustainable lifestyle. I could not live on 1200 a day.
  • I think it is about being able to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Health is the key word. Oh and this is not coming from someone who can't control stuffing their face. I am at my goal weight. But I did not have to come off a diet. I changed my lifestyle which includes eating healthy and working out. So for me I don't have to…
  • I started P90X 30 pounds ago and was so out of shape. My knees hurt so bad I had to wear knee braces to make it through the workouts. I just did what Tony said. I pressed play everyday. Hit pause when I needed too. Modified Modified Modified. Every day it got a little better. I remember the first time I made it all the way…
  • I love P90X and Turbo Fire. Have seen the most results with P90X but on weight lifting days with P90 I love doing a 15 minute HIIT Turbo Fire class to get some cardio in.
  • Yes that is more accurate than MFP exercise calories in their database. I use one as well for logging exercise and it has worked for me.
  • Sounds like there is a history of you trying to help and her blowing it off. I do think her comment was meant to belittle all your hard work and success. Yes, a lot of people thought your comment was mean but I know what it is like with family and always keeping your mouth shut and then one day it just comes out. Maybe it…
  • Fage is the best I have found. I did not like it at first either. But Fage makes wonderful fat free greek yogurt with flavors that make it taste more like a dessert instead of sour. Raspberry and Blueberry are my fav.
  • When I first started out the scale did not move for 2 months. Make sure you are measuring yourself weekly and writing it down. Measure waist, hips, thighs, arms etc... The scale did not move but I was losing and 1/2 inch to an inch a week. Some weeks I would not lose any in my waist but would in my thighs. Next week it…
  • That is so AWESOME!!!! That is my goal this year to be able to do 1 real pull up. I was just talking to a girlfriend yesterday about how hard this is for woman. But we know it can be done with hard work because we see the woman on P90X doing pull ups. Good for you! This is an accomplishment for sure.
  • I have said this a 1,000 times on MFP and I will say it again. I can't stress enough the importance of measuring instead of weighing. You can do both but writing down measurements weekly will show you success the scale will not. When I first started out for the first two months the scale did not move but I was losing a 1/2…
  • Nothing. Upped my protein though.
  • For me personally I don't look at any macros except Protein. Eat twice what MFP suggests in protein. As long as I am within my calorie goal nothing else matters.
  • I was the same way when I started out. I struggled working out because my knees and ankles hurt so bad. I went on Amazon and purchased knee and ankle braces. It helped so much. Then the more I worked out the less they hurt. After losing almost 30 pounds I don't even need to wear them anymore.
  • I get "Now don't go getting all anorexic on me, you have lost enough weight". You know how you shut them up? I say "When I was 30 pounds heavier why were you not here saying "now don't go getting fat on me you have gained enough weight". Always stops them dead in their tracks. They have no clue how to respond.
  • My husband and I split a Red Baron frozen pizza once a week. It is our treat on our rest day. The only thing we worry about is staying with in our calories. So far it has done nothing to stop us from losing weight. I think Pizza gets a bad reputation if your are not counting how many slices/calories you are eating at one…
  • I just went through this in December. I had melanoma removed from my right back calf on my leg. Had an incision 7 inches long that left me with a leg looking like a shark bite. I also could not work out for a month and it freaked me out. I set myself to maintenance on calories since I knew that I would not have exercise…
  • The combination of fitbit and MFP and the fact that they are linked as been a win win for me and I have had nothing but success tied with P90X.
  • Cooked. Most of the fat cooks out of it I guess?? I microwave mine on paper towels and I know they are full of grease when I am done. Maybe that is it.
  • Prayers and hugs to you and congratulations on your success! I too had the best results with P90X. It is a great program.
  • No worries. When I first started sometimes I could not make it the whole hour. Every time I worked out I just tried to go further. Next thing you know you are killing it!
