  • Good deal! Just be patient. I swear was in the same boat. I would look in the mirror and see a smaller stomach, toner arms, toner calfs but my thighs and butt were not changing and everything around them was. One day in my second round I started noticing a difference. Good Luck!!
  • It could mean you are losing muscle mass especially if your clothes are not fitting any different. Add weight training of some kind. Cardio alone used for weight loss can result in muscle loss.
  • I just finished my second round of P90X. Going to start my third round Saturday doing a hybrid of P90X/P90XPlus and Turbo Fire. I will tell you that my thighs and butt were the last things to start showing progress. It will happen but just takes more time. Plyo is not going to do as much for your legs and butt as the work…
  • I use MFP as weekly totals. Monday through Sunday. If I know on Friday I am not working out and going out to eat I will leave a 100 to 200 calories left in my diary a day. Then be over on Friday. But for the week I am still hitting my calorie goal. I also notice that some people get really down on themselves if they have…
  • I think it is important for people to clarify when they say they are at 1200 if they are eating 1200 net or gross. There is a big difference. I am set at 1200 calories a day as well. After my daily activity and working out I end up eating anywhere from 1600 to 1800 calories. Sometimes more but my NET is 1200. There is…
  • Love mine! Changed everything and now I am addicted. According to fitbit I was moving more during the day than my actual sedentary settings. So it adds calories back in for me to eat. Sometimes it is only 150 but hey! I will take it. I was nervous at first eating back my fitbit calories. But it worked. I never gained…
  • I don't think the OP said cardio is not important. I think he point was that when people concentrate on that alone for weight loss that they lose muscle mass.
  • Great post. I wish I knew this when I started working out. I was doing all cardio. Even when I started P90X I thought there was not enough cardio. So I did not follow the schedule and did more of the cardio work outs instead. I was more concerned about what my HRM said. If I lifted I only burned 200 or so calories. If I…
  • I use Truvia that is from the Stevia plant. Better than chemicals. I use good old half and half organic creamer. It is 40 calories for 2 tablespoons. No chemicals in it either.
  • People who make rude comments to me when I am looking up calories on MFP or logging whatever I just ate to see if I can have another beer or not. Funny how they did not care when I was shoving crap in my mouth or when I could not walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded. No comments then at all.
  • Listen to your body. If you have calories left and you are hungry then eat them. If you are not hungry then don't or just eat some of them.
  • MFP is set up for you to hit your net at 1200. Eat them back. If I lived off 1200 gross calories a day I would pass out trying to work out as hard as I do and I would be starving. On average I eat 1600-2000 calories a day after working out. That is 1200 net on MFP.
  • I worry about protein. If you are eating high protein you don't have to really worry about being over on carbs. Days when I am I don't care because I need carbs for energy and to work out hard. I just try to stay away from junk carbs. Those kind of carbs would suck up my calories anyways and I would still be hungry.
  • It's a good start if you are not use to working out.
  • I have a Polar FT40. Love it and use it everyday. Someone gave me advice on here when I first bought mine that I use. They said take your calorie burn and minus 15% from that. That number is the one you log. Told me that 15% of the calories is what I would have burned anyways during that time frame even if I was not…
  • ^^^^^^^ Excellent Advice!
  • I never did P90 but have completed two rounds of P90X. Just now started P90X+. Turbo Fire is great. Slim in 6 was good as a starter. I have about 50 different work out DVD's I have bought over the years. I feel like I have tried everything. I will tell you that nothing I have purchased has been as hard as the beach body…
  • Are we talking net or gross? I am set at 1200 but eat 1200 net calories. If that was my gross calorie limit I would pass out. I always get confused when people on here talk about 1200 calories because they don't specify net or gross. Two total opposite ways of looking at your calorie intake.
  • I would not consider 20 minutes of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred a weight lifting program at all.
  • Did the same thing. Was always starting over and over and over. I agree with all the other posts. When you want it bad enough it sticks. Now I get pissed off if someone plans an event that makes me miss a workout. It is number one to me.
  • I was in the same spot when I started out. Did all cardio and knew nothing about weights. P90X ended up being my best friend. There are lots of workout DVD's out there that concentrate on lifting weights now. Many to choose from. But that is if you want to do this at home. Not sure if you are looking for home or gym ideas.…
  • I don't know why someone would think this is strange advice from a doctor. She said she hit a plateau and her Doctor is saying increase weight training. Sounds like sound advice to me. MayMichelle, I use to do mainly cardio which was great getting the first 10-15 pounds off. But I also hit a plateau even though I was doing…
  • Congratulations!! You do not even look like the same person. BEAUTIFUL!!! Also, I loved that you showed the time frame on your pictures. Helps everyone see there is no quick fix and it does not happen overnight. It's hard work and takes time. YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!
  • I take my weight and divide by 2. That is the Min protein I want to take in that day. What I really shoot for is 1 gram for every pound I weigh. Hope this helps and no you can't get to much protein. Just stay in your calorie allowance and you are fine.
  • U.S.A.
  • This can't be right. It puts me to lose weight at eating 851 calories. I would pass out. Will stick with my 1200 and eat back my exercise calories like I have been doing.
