I would not recommend doing 5x5 at home unless you have a squat rack and good bench. It's too easy to get hurt trying to lift heavy. You may be able to start light as the program says, but sooner or later you will get to some heavy weights that can't be managed without the proper equipment. I use my local high school…

Lefleri is right about just using a scale to determine results. No matter what exercise program you are doing, diet is the greatest determining factor regarding weight loss. I think measuring your body is a much better way to track your success. Most times, losing weight fast is just water loss and will come back just as…

There is a ton of info on the net. One place you can start is by downloading for free stronglifts 5x5. This is a beginners program probably more suited toward a guy, but it contains a lot of great information about where to start. Also, check out youtube for vids on proper lifting technique and form. Mark Ripptoe has some…

I would substitute Plyo for Kenpo. You would be doing it twice per week, but it will really help. Once Plyo gets easy, try to get the insanity dvds and use that for cardio. Puts Plyo x to shame. I did this for my 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds. You can also invest in a wt vest, something I looked into but never did.

Look up Strong Lifts 5x5 on the net. There is a free download with a wealth of info on just what you want. It includes everything you need to start a beginners program. My recommendation is to download and read thru it and then find a forum to ask any questions you might have. Then watch some videos on how to properly do…

I hear you about the 4th round of X. I had to put it all on separate sheet and follow without the dvds. I even included all the warmups just to get away from the monotony. I also added the insanity workouts for the x cardio. I took most of the winter months off and have now moved onto SL 5x5. I like the strength part a lot…

Those barbell rows are really tough to make it to your chest. I was trying 135, but on the last 2 reps of the 4th and 5th set, I just couldn't get all the way there. I have gone to 115. Seems no matter how much I deload on the OHP, it's hard. I actually made it thru 120 for all 5 sets, but I could feel myself cheating a…

So, where does everyone stall on 5x5. I have been doing very well with squats ( other than tough time getting always to parallel or below) deads and bench. Overhead press and barbell rows are really hard to maintain form for all 5 reps and 5 sets. Found myself deloading and making gains. I refuse to sacrifice form over…

What do you think of 5x5 Stronglifts? I went thru about 4 rounds of p90x. I included some of the insanity workouts, because the cardio in X became too easy. I finally got tired and annoyed from listening to the same dvds. Started searching the net for another program. A lot of people highly recommended 5x5. It's free to…

Ah, the p90x diet plan. The first weeks with the fat shredder takes some time getting used to. I could not get the amount of protein they wanted you to have, so I ended up getting protein whey. I don't think you could eat enough food to get that amt of protein unless you just ate chicken. Anyhow, just adjust the…

p90x is tough no matter what your fitness level. I have completed 3 rounds and just couldn't do the 4th round I started. The motivation was lacking. When I first started Ab ripper, I could NOT complete any of the routines. Just do the best you can each and every time and it does become a lot easier. In fact, you will be…

Lost 35 lbs on my first round, but nothing on my second round. You need to check your measurments more than the scale. Went from a 39 inch waist to a 32. Have currently put on 10 lbs, but still look lean. Going to start another round, just needed some time off for the body to rest.

Insanity is probably the hardest/toughest cardio workout on dvd. It will push you til you drop. I made it thru the first 30 days and had enough. Went back to p90x for the strength exercises. Don't just step into this program cause you will more than likely fail because it is TOUGH. I was in very good shape when I tried it…

It seems you are in very good shape as far as strength and cardio. If you really want to push yourself, do p90x and substitute a couple insanity workouts instead of the 2 cardio ( plyo and kenpo) in p90x. This will burn a lot of fat and help with weight loss. I would not get too concerned about weight and concentrate more…

I could not agree more with kimberlymejia about the committment. It sounds like a great program and it is, BUT you have to be able to commit the time and effort into it. You will not get the results that everyone talks about unless you put in the time. Diet is also very important and can't be left out. Together, you will…

DVDFab6 will make copies. I have copied each dvd to my hard drive just in case I scratch the original dvd's. It's a very easy program and works great. Can't see how anyone could get into trouble making backups if you have the originals. They won't last forever and I plan on using them for a long time. By the way, DVDFab 6…

I would almost guarantee you will get the results you are looking for with p90x. Not completely sure about benching 90% of your body wt, but if you push yourself for the 90 days, the mile and a half will be a breeze. Plyo alone will accomplish that. If you are really worried about the cardio, just get insanity and do the…

Just started week 11 of my 3rd round. Did 2 rounds last yr and then half of Insanity. Way too much Cardio in insanity for me, but still the toughest workouts I had ever done. Made plyo seem like a walk in the park. Anyhow, would like to hear how things go for you incorporating p90x with the insanity workouts. I tried a…

1. What if I can't find the 1 hr. plus every day??? Can I just do the next day when I get to it? Example, If I work out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then don't have time Thursday, can I do Thursday's workout on Friday? 2. Do you actually lose any weight, or is it just muscle building? 3. I have a VERY bad knee, (as…

I have gone thru p90x a couple times last yr and currently on week 10. Great program for good overall strength and fitness. It will change your body and your life if you keep doing it. Firefrog76 you can use bands instead of a pull up bar as long as you watch how to do them correctly. In fact, there is always someone using…

I agree with errodr DONT GIVE UP. It might seem intimidating at first, but do the best you can. Believe me you will get stronger and see huge improvements if you do the best you can during each workout. Do you have goals in mind? I went thru 2 rounds last year and am currently on week 9 of a round this yr. Don't let the…

I agree with what everyone has said, Great program. Works the entire body along with a good nutrition program. It will get you in the best shape of your life if you push yourself and follow the diet. Went thru two rounds last spring/summer and am currently on week 9 this spring. Be prepared to hurt all over the first few…

Great job. Can remember the first time I did Ab ripper, not sure about love, but I did hate it. Took quite a while before I made it thru the whole thing. Those pheiffer scissors were always the hardest for me. Again, great to hear you are getting stronger!
-
If you have the money, then get both programs. Otherwise, I would get p90x and do the best you can and modify the movements. There are many ways to make the routines easier until you get stronger. Also, diet is just as if not more important in the program and the nutrition guide in p90x is great.

If you love Plyo, then Insanity is for you. After you do the first month of insanity, plyo becomes almost too easy. The best way to describe Insanity if you have done p90x plyo is to take out the breaks in Plyo and speed things up and then you have insanity. The warm-up is even hard.
-
I can tell you this right now, you better be in good condition to do insanity. The workouts will break you down. I would not recommend starting with insanity without having some previous hard cardio workouts. Before I tried insanity, I had completed 2 rounds of p90x. If you do start, take it easy and take more breaks so…

Sorry to hear that AJCM, hope everything gets better. ErinCatherine you will make it thru and be amazed from where you started. Next thing you know, you will want to do INSANITY. Oh, by the way great smile.

klouttit being sore is just a part of the whole program. I remember the first week I could barely move parts of my body. I hurt for days but things got better. Even after I had completed my first round and was in the middle of my second, I did legs and back and really made a point to work the legs with deep squats and good…

I have seen used sets as low as $50 on craigslist. Included all the dvd's and guides. If all you find are the dvd's, you can download the guides from the net.

ErinCatherine yoga is just plain hard and long. Glad you found something to make it thru. Don't worry about the pullups. I started using the chair ( I think I could do 2 without) but kept working toward doing more and more. Try pulling up normal then go back down slow. Also, I would do as many as I could til failure take a…
