  • I had friends in, and hung out with, all of them. Cheerleader/drill team, on track team, smoker in the bathroom, funky dresser, dated football QB, partied on weekends with wild crowd...What I learned from high school was to celebrate one's uniqueness and individuality, not to go to any unusual lengths to fit in. If you are…
  • You could also work in some exercise at home, not just limit it to the gym. I, too, had limited time at the gym last year, so I began running late at night, when the kids were in bed and saved my gym time for the weights. An alternative would be a boxing bag in the garage, or make some homemade weights and use the gym for…
  • Feel free to add me :). I don't bother with people who say they aren't accepting new friends. There are tons of people out there who DO want them. Check the introduction forums and invite them to be your friend! They're new, scared, unsure, and need encouragement. Show them how to be a good friend and enrich your own…
  • Work: any number of high heel business shoes (slides, pumps, boots, etc.) Athletics: Either Sansha dance sneakers (for flexibility) or Asics Gel for running (for support) Home: Flip flops, boots or barefoot
  • I have 2 and planning a 3rd to add on to one I have, once I lose this weight.
  • I would say lightly active. If you were moving constantly (even if not sweating or lifting) you would probably put active. By the way, 3 miles is not really that much. I use a FitBit and log more than that in my sitting-at-a-desk-all-day job. That's all considered to be part of your "lifestyle". Only exercise for the sake…
  • I drink a 2004 Lincoln Town Car. In storage, I have a 1978 Silver Anniversary corvette which needs electrical work (no $$ for that right now). Actual photos of my cars:
  • I've an incident of bursitis in my knee that popped up over the weekend. I bought a nifty brace that keeps your knee stable, with metal, bendable stablizer bars on either side as well as velcro straps to hold the brace part snug around your knee. It isn't uncomfortable at all, and I've worn it basically 24/7 since my knee…

  • It's our 9 year anniversary. We are giving chocolate and cards. I get them for my kids as well (I <3 them too!), but going to the State Fair (as a family) this next weekend instead of a meal out or Valentine's gifts. I've asked that my anniversary $$ be held and combined with my birthday $$ in August to buy a decent…
  • Overall, in the last 3 years, I've lost more than 40 pounds. People at work noticed and asked how. I said, I count calories and work out. Several of them snickered and responded with...oh you mean that old saying to eat right and get exercise really DOES work? My answer...Yes. Yes, it does. There were a couple of people…
  • LOVE mine. Got one for Christmas 2010, then it died on Christmas Day 2011 (I never ever went without it, except in the shower). I promptly got another, of course! It clips to whatever works for you...waistband, pocket, bra strap, and there is an included wristband to slide it into for sleep tracking.
  • I don't care and I don't care if you care. :grumble: . I'm there to workout, anyway I need to, in order to get the job done. I ain't dressin up for you. Or anyone there.

  • Exact same way I do it.
  • I eat when I want to eat, as long as it's within my calorie limits. All that timing stuff is irrelevant to weight loss (although possibly relevant to controlling blood sugar or building muscles).
  • Conquering emotional eating/binging requires that you look at what is causing it. You might want to seek professional help!
  • I'm definitely a hugger! But I avoid hugging strangers because I don't want to offend the non-huggers. My 23yr old son and 6yr old daughter are huggers, but my 16yr old daughter is like a damn porcupine. All bristly and stiff, so we don't hug much at all. (she probably needs it the most though).
  • If I eat junk, even once, my whole day goes to hell in a handbasket. I think it's because I try to severely limit my remaining calories to make up for the junk, then get so hungry I grab more junk anyway, then because I'm way over, just say heck with it...and eat without limitation. So, I've found that I have to avoid the…
  • My shocker came when I started reading labels on some of my favorite things. Sobe Energy is 2 1/2 servings per bottle (I used to drink 2-3 at a time)!!. And each bottle was 270 calories with 66 grams of SUGAR..holy cow. I would eat next to nothing in terms of chewable food, but drink 2-3 of those every evening. No wonder I…
  • I weigh myself every morning, but I only count the new lows. I make little bets with myself as to what the scale will say...based on am I bloated at all? Did I eat a lot the day before? Drink a lot of water? I'm getting good at it! I am usually within 1 pound of what it says. But I do recommend you pick a day and count…
  • I eat mostly whole foods, although I'm ok with limited processed foods. When I do eat processed foods, I try to avoid added sugar, chemicals, preservatives, nitrites, artificial coloring or flavoring, HFCS and MSG. No fast food for me. This is what works for me..
  • I don't get why it's a big deal. I could fake my weigh-in's too, or my diary, or 'shop my pics, or use really old photos...no one would ever know. Except me. Most people don't know (or care) that I reset my ticker after a long break. It would say 40+ pounds if I'd left it alone. None of anyone's business though, to be…
  • You can do boxing (with a real bag if you got one!), lift weights, rowing, pushups, pullups, crunches, walks on crutches, etc. Check out http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/TheBeastWCBB/ and see what can be done without the lower body.
  • You're not logging regularly. In order to be positive that you are eating at a deficit (required in order to lose weight), you simply have to log, at least for a while. Weigh, measure, log every bite until you can guess at it and be accurate (and double check accuracy). When you can look at a chicken breast and say that…
  • I quit cold turkey and joined the gym/MFP and determined to lose weight (instead of gain). I did too, lost 15 pounds! So, your hands want something to do and your taste buds are no longer dulled and your hunger hormones are no longer squashed by the nicotine. So give yourself something healthy to snack on....raw veggies,…
  • There is a reason for this! When you first start working out hard, your body retains fluids to be converted to glycogen. Glycogen is used to fuel your workouts. It is very common to see a scale gain in the beginning. Don't worry though, you are likely still losing fat, even if it doesn't show up for weeks. For me, when I…
  • I  cinnamon raisin ezekiel bread. Toasted. With peanut butter and marmelade. :drinker:
