My partner and I do things together as well as separately. It's healthy to have separate interests. BUT, we don't drink and we never get "out of control".

You can do it. I have three kids, a spouse, two jobs, and several websites to administer. I get up at 7 am, get the youngest (age 6)up, make our lunches, take her to school, go to job #1. Pick her up, come home, change clothes, make dinner while she does homework and I talk to middle child (age 16) about her…

Starvation MODE and starvation are two separate things. Starvation MODE is simply when your body has begun to adapt to the reduced calorie intake. Starvation is what you see in third world countries. Starvation MODE happens via hormonal changes with leptin and ghrelin (which can cause cravings/extreme hunger) as well as…

I quit logging over the holidays and put on weight ( 8 lbs from Oct-Dec). Obviously, I am unable to maintain without MFP just yet. I will keep at it though. Eventually, I hope to be able to just eat naturally (healthily), work out, and the scale stays steady...and no logging.

My advice, based on only what I've read and done, is to go with the trainer initially but ask for some training on free weight form also (for later). Go ahead and do his machine workouts and get used to weights, and when you feel capable, either ask to move up or change trainers or do your own thing. I use New Rules of…

135. That's actually my heaviest "slim". I weighed 105 before my first child, 115 after, 125 after my 2nd and was 135 when I got pregnant with my 3rd baby. If I can make it back to 135, I'll be pretty happy. Actually, inches mean more to me than pounds. I still need to lose 4-5" on my hips and at least that on my waist. Do…

I don't "cheat". Sometimes I eat more than others. But if my goal is to eat at a deficit, then that's what I intend to do. I eat at maintenance for 1 week every 3 months, to give myself a break from reduced calories. But I never "cheat".

Amy's Orange and Cream juice bar every evening instead of my bowl full of ice cream. At work, I sometimes have a single hard candy which takes a while to melt away and leaves a very sweet taste in my mouth.

Wonderful job, you're an inspiration!

Eat up. I often have a hard boiled egg as a snack. The combo of fat and protein fill me up nicely as a snack.

Three possibilities (or combination): 1) You are trying to lose too much per week. 1-2 pounds is fine, and you are losing 1 pound per week now. So you ARE doing something right. But you believe you have a 1000 calorie deficit and should be losing 2 pounds per week? So, 2) Although you are logging everything, you aren't…

I just retired from EQ last Oct after 8 years playing. Folded my guild and hung up my snake.

Absolutely this. I still play wow and other games, but NOW, I get exercise every single day. And I eat right. I control the games, they don't control me.

I'll take the ribs AND the broccoli please. :flowerforyou:

I was raised a vegetarian. I've seen Food, Inc. I've seen Super-Size Me, too. I've seen documentaries on animal cruelty as part of the meat preparation process. I've personally been into a slaughterhouse and watched the slaughter happen. But I began eating meat as of my 20's and still do. The only difference now is that I…

I do a 5-10 min warmup on the treadmill, then my weight routine. I do a three day split, Chest/Back, Legs/Abs, Shoulders/Arms. Do 3-4 exercises focusing on the muscle group(s) of the day. I believe in heavy weight, medium reps (8-12). So my routine looks something like this: Chest/Back day Warmup Lat Pull down Bench press…

Most likely, this works for you because a) you are underestimating food intake or b) overestimating exercise burn or c) have your activity level set too high. Or all three. Additionaly, it could be that your metabolism has already slowed down due to low calories so you are stuck at the lower intake. These were true for me…

I'd like to add that it would be helpful if the advice people offer is scientifically proven and not just something they heard or read on a blog or board somewhere. It's fine to say...this worked for me...but to imply that that is the ONLY way to do it because it's a proven fact is not accurate...unless of course, it IS a…

Something else...when you first start eating at a deficit and your body notices the reduced input, you are more hungry feeling than usual. To counteract this, I suggest having many healthy, low calorie snacks availabe to eat. Raw veggies, a hard boiled egg, greek low-free yogurt, nuts such as almonds or adameme (but be…

It takes me about 3 weeks to start seeing results. If a month goes by and you've still not lost anything, then review and revise your plan. Did you take measurements? It's always a good idea to keep track of that as well. If you got slimmer but the scale stayed the same, you'd be happy, right? Hang in there! :flowerforyou:

What ^ he ^ said...plus your cheat meals. And are you absolutely sure on those exercise burns? I found out I'm not even close to burning the 500 calories the machines and MFP said I did. It's more like 200-250 for me. That demolished my supposed deficit.

I read every post and looked at your diary. From experience, I would tend to think that you are NOT actually eating at a deficit. Weigh, measure and log every bite you put into your mouth. Double check your activity level settings on MFP (active, lightly active, sedentary, etc.) . Overestimate the cheats if you don't have…

So, Dec 28-Jan 7 is one week and 3 days. And in that time, you have gone from 164 to 159. So in 10 days, you lost 4 pounds. I fail to see the problem. Everyone's weight fluctuates on a daily, if not hourly, basis. That is perfectly normal. To determine actual weight loss, you need to pick one day a week to measure and only…

I think....if my husband was an alcoholic and needed to avoid alcohol, it would be highly inconsiderate and disrespectful of me to bring home bottles of wine to drink in front of him or to drag him to a bar with me so I could drink. And I think the same is true of food. Chocolate cake or donuts are simply not necessary and…

I have to have LOTS of protein and not so many carbs. If I eat carbs first thing, then within 2 hours, my blood sugar will crash and I get sick. Protein = no crash and no hunger for a few hours.
