MFP already has given you a deficit in your calorie goals. This way you will lose weight without exercising at all. BUT, if you do exercise, you should eat at least part of them back, because otherwise, you may be depriving yourself nutritionally. Doing so makes it very difficult to stick to it, and to maintain the loss…

Haha, no wonder. I pretty much ignore that crud anyway, if it was accurate, I'd be in cardiac arrest by now, lol. I'm always in the red zone, flashing more than my max heart rate. Yeah right.

Some people sweat, some people do not. It is not a sign of how hard you are working. My X husband would sweat while washing the dinner dishes  . My 16yr old daughter never gets a single drop of sweat on her face...not even after an hour of zumba or a 3 mile skate through 95 degree sunshine to the beach. She simply…

I quit smoking and was determined not to put ON more weight. I had put off quitting for many years due to the associated weight gain. I had a baby when I was 44, and had not been able to lose the 'baby' weight, in fact, I was slowly gaining. I finally decided that I wanted to be alive to watch this precious child grow up…

I track everything, but I don't lose weight in a nice linear fashion. I was just complaining on my feed that I haven't lost in 5 weeks, although my clothes fit differently and I can see changes in my thighs, arms, and abs. The scale will (hopefully) catch up although my shape is the most important thing at this point in my…

Hmm, I am 5'5" and weigh 151. I wear a size 6 and noticed today that I have a spare 2-3" in the waistband of my slacks as well as quite a bit of loose material around the crotch area. I have some 4's I can wear also.

All spike days ever did for me was negate my deficit. Maybe I overdid them? :blushing: What has worked for me is a 1 week "refeed" where I eat at maintenance. I do this every 3 months. It helps me stick to the deficit eating the rest of the time, too. Usually. Except for last fall, where the refeed week turned into 3…

It takes 2-3 weeks for my efforts to be reflected on a scale. I go in spits and spurts...nothing, nothing, nothing, then BAM...a loss. So be patient and give it at least 6 weeks before you decide it's not working. And be sure that a) you are fueling your body adequately (eating enough) and b) being accurate in your…

I ONLY count fitness-related activities as exercise. Everything else is part of my lifestyle factor (BMR X activity factor = TDEE/Maintenance). For me, heavy cleaning is going to maybe, at best, add 100-200 calories to my day. Not even enough to compensate for that cold beer I had afterwards  . The answer is…

Anybody else think that Rick sounds a little bit like Shane there at the end? Wondering if it's a result of what he's been through or changes to his brain from the virus. No, I haven't read the story, so just speculating.

Calories are measurements of energy. Your body uses energy to function. Growing hair, brain activity, heart, intestines, skin replenishment, talking, walking, sitting upright, it ALL uses energy (calories). TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is the total calories needed by your body to maintain your current weight at…

Wow, no one uses a towel these days? Cuz that's what I use it for...to dry all my parts.

I had a pediatrician ask me where did my daughter come "from", when she was an infant (dark skin, loads of long dark hair-I was blonde with green eyes). I just looked at her and said...from me!! :explode: Dumb!$*& !@#)*.

I have eyes in the back of my head (just ask my kids) I can climb a tree like a monkey (even at my age) I can cut my own hair better than most professionals (your hair too!) I can figure out any software you put me in front of I can make the best of any situation I can make friends anywhere I can fix my own car, with a…

Everybody ELSE keeps wanting to talk to ME about food. I just want to eat and be left alone. But no, all my co-workers want to discuss my choice of wrap, my healthy meals, my weight loss and how I did it. Every single time I put anything near my mouth, they start in on me. Sigh.

Well I dunno about you all, but every cardio exercise I've done helped me, as long as I put my all into it. Of course, I also weight train, heavy, which helps a great deal as well. Running helped to slim down my legs and hips, zumba has been great for glutes, kickboxing for legs, glutes and arms, elliptical for endurance…

One reason people don't lose is that they are estimating portion and serving sizes and are actually, WAY off. How sure are you of the calories you eat? Do you weigh, measure and log every bite? Do you have cheat meals or cheat weekends? How big are they? Ie: If I eat at a 500 calorie deficit for 5 days, then eat over…

Before - weigh it on a scale. A serving is usually 2 oz. ETA: I average about 1450 calories per week, to lose 1 pound per week.

The problem is that growing teens have different nutritional needs than adults. There are liability issues to the owners if teenagers utilize a site geared for adults and God forbid, something happens. Sparkteens is the only place I know of that is specifically for teens.

I have 2 jobs, 3 children, a partner, pets, and two websites to maintain. How to fit in exercise? You make it a priority. Last year, I started running. Well, the only time I could fit my runs in was 10-10:30 pm at night, after 2nd job, kids + homework, chores, etc. So at 10 at night, I'd gear up and go run for an hour or…

I'm near St. Pete. Will talk to my partner (metal guitarist) about going to the concert.

It takes me 2-3 WEEKS to see a downward change on the scale after I start eating at a deficit. Your body doesn't instantly know to let go of fat, the hormones that regulate these things have to have time to kick in and then time is needed for the process that actually eliminates fat. Not to mention, if you just started…

I look forward to my workouts. They have a prime slot in my daytime lineup  . Seriously, they're fun and I feel great afterwards. I think I'm addicted!!

Dried pineapple and mango bits (1 tablespoon). Takes care of my sweets craving!

Days logged means days in a row. If you don't log in during a 24 hour period, you have to start over. Maybe you can log in from your phone or in the morning before your workouts? When you finish your exercise and food logs do not matter, as long as you log in.

1 - I've made an entire lifestyle change I no longer eat fast food or cardboard meals. I don't drink anything other than water or coffee. I rarely eat junk food and nearly all of my meals are made from scratch, mostly organic, all natural. I work out for fun as well as fitness - lifting hard 3X a week in addition to…

Actually, your activity level(s) are probably not identical. If you fidget a lot or move around more than you think, but calculate your goals with a 1.2 activity factor, you may lose more than another person who has the same BMI and presumed activity factor, but who moves around less, climbs no stairs, and sleeps more than…
