Have his Dr refer him to a nutritionist. You don't want to load him up on fats. There are diets designed to be heart healthy and still help him achieve a healthy weight.

I know how you feel. I was doing great and then I just stopped being aware of what I was doing. Suddenly it wasn't as easy. Now I'm determined to get back in the swing of what worked so well before.

Don't give up now. You're doing great. You just need to keep on keeping on. Don't eat up all those calories you work so hard to burn. The clinic visits are more important when you're stuck than when you're not. You're doing this to improve your health, not to impress the clinic staff. YOU WILL SUCCEED.

Good luck. When I started I set my goal at 29 pounds. I'm already down 21 so now I have to rethink my goal. This was much easier than I thought it would be.

I weigh every morning but I don't count a pound as lost until it's been gone for a couple of days (or a week). Then I feel confident that it's gone for good and I log it.

What if you try alternating 1200 calorie days with 1400 calorie days.

Ok, maybe I worded that badly. What I mean is..this is one part of your life where it's not only OK to think about yourself, but it's essential. This quest for a healthier YOU is about YOU and that's ok. Being a Pastor is about everyone else.

I got out the box with some of my favorite clothes. They no longer fit, but I refused to give up and get rid of them. And ... THEY FIT again. So glad I kept them and I cant wait until they become too big for me.

Watch what you drink. There can be hundreds of calories in juice or fancy coffee etc. Also be sure eat something within 1/2 hour of getting out of bed to kick start your metabolism. Good Luck and don't give up.
