I'm using RunKeeper (iPhone app & on-line) ... it logs running and walking via GPS but you can also manually enter the route online as well as swimminf, skiing, hiking and a host of other activities ... you can make "friends" there too for encouragement and competition ...

I hadn't eaten breakfast for years until I started my new regime ... I'm running every other day and weightlifting on the days between ... I have found that if I skip breakfast I feel too tired to exercise effectively ... so now I have a three rasher bacon roll (no butter or sauce just lots of fresh cracked black pepper)…

Hi I'm running outdoors every other day ... doing the Runkeeper.com beginner 5k plan ... and some light weight training on the alternate days ... I also try and park at a distance of where I want to go and walk the rest of the way ... eg I shop in Bury Park, Luton, for my fruit and veg each week now ... I park in…

Hi I live, and work self employed, in a village in the south of Bedfordshire, between Dunstable and Luton ... a bit of a milestone today as I have just dipped below the 100kg mark (I promised myself some new togs when I got this far) ... I'm aiming for 90kg by Xmas. I'm using MFP to track calories and log exercise using…

Consider that water to the body is as oil to a car engine ... it aids the efficient workings of the body's chemical mechanisms especially the transfer of compounds around the body ... keeping your body topped up with water will ensure that you are running at top efficiency ... especially important when one is exercising…

I hadn't run anywhere for 30+ years until I decided last month that, at 46 and 118kg (260lb), I needed to do SOMETHING ... we borrowed a running machine (a good one that cost over £1000) and I was too heavy to use it ... I then discovered RUNKEEPER and am now doing the beginner 5K training plan (all free) with a view to…

I'm in the UK and it's quite chilly here now (4C just now at 17:15) ... I have been going out in fleece tracksuit bottoms, Tee shirt and a "Peter Storm" zipped wind cheater with pockets big enough to accommodate the fleece gloves and hat I also start out with ... it's important not to get too cold at the start or the end…

I'm in! Having not run since being chased by a householder when I went hedge hopping as a 16 year old (30 years ago) I have recently started running with the help of Runkeeper and a C25K training regime ... went for a 4 mile (YES FOUR MILE) run this afternoon in 55 mins (not fast but at 103 kg not slow either!) and all…

Wow ... great work there Becky ... thank you ... It's quite confusing (for me) sometimes with what weights are being discussed ... Some foods gain weight when being cooked (eg rice and pasta) for the water they take on to re-hydrate ... so no added kcals but the kcals / 100g (4oz) drops ... whereas others will gain…

It's a difficult one ... hmmm (Being a science student it also interests me...)

Thank you Ruby ... I was not aware of the tool ... that's fantastic! You are the precious stone your name implies! :-)

Hi Kymmu ... I'm accounting for EVERYTHING that goes into the pan ... including Oils, Flours, Herbs, Spices, Sherry, vinegar etc... right down to the 1ml / 1g level ... nothing is left off the spreadsheet ... I guess another example would be when one cooks onions or a steak ... the "brown" is burnt sugars that have been…

cubed and "char" roasted with other roots (celeriac, parsnip etc), onions, rosemary and garlic ... they can be eaten like this or mixed gradually into a risotto as the rice cooks so you get some very soft and some still a bit crisp...
