  • I'm a teacher, and I often find myself saying to my students: "I don't know why you guys always want to touch each other. It's awkward. I don't wanna see that. When I see you with your hands on each other, I assume you're in love. If you're not, you should stop it. Have a personal bubble." Haha. When it's teenage boys,…
  • Oh, man, I know just how you feel! My husband is especially bad about this. We are on this journey together, but when he has even the smallest of setbacks, he belittles himself for the rest of the day. We're human--changing our lives is hard work! You just have to tell yourself that it's ok what you did, and you'll do…
  • My excuse was similar--I started taking the Pill, I was in college and didn't have the time to run around like I did in high school, I'm getting older so OF COURSE my metabolism is slowing down...but in reality, I love me some Mountain Dew and I love me some dessert, and I HATE to work out. So I'm working on it, while…
  • Omg! My husband always says "all teachers do is eat"--and it is so true! We have a common area table where we eat lunch, and there is ALWAYS some kind of tempting something there. :( This week it's been Girl Scout Cookies. I know how you feel!
  • I am in the same boat! I have always been the type that drinks Mountain Dew or gets cookies or something if I'm down. It's also making me MORE sad that I can't eat what I want! Having a cheat day to look forward to has helped me to eat better regardless of my emotions. As for working out, I cannot motivate myself to leave…
  • Luckily, we gave away 99% of our candy to the trick-or-treaters! :D However, I DID eat a lot of it BEFORE Halloween...:\ I'm not as disciplined as you. :(
  • I don't actually WEIGH things. For the most part, things that come in a package tell you how much is in the package. For things I make myself, like if I cook vegetables or something, I just kind of eyeball it. Otherwise, I'd go crazy with trying to figure out how much of what I'm eating. I'm sure sometimes I go over what I…
  • I've always been the same way, so I've taken to eating a breakfast of like oatmeal or cereal (something low cal) and then eating some fruit later in the day, say about 2-3 hours later, then eating my lunch. It seems to help me to not starve to death without over eating.
  • Lol!!!! Plus all the running from room to room I do after I watch one, checking to make sure no one is hiding there! :)
  • Thanks to everyone for the USEFUL and MOTIVATIONAL responses. :) I really appreciate those of you that were so HELPFUL.
  • I don't keep them in the house anymore, actually, but therefore, I get hungry because I didn't know what to replace it with! Thanks. :)
  • That is so fantastic! Way to go!
  • Scrambled or fried. Nothing fancy. I don't eat eggs often, though.
  • I'm with you! I say I eat SOME, in moderation, and try to offset it with exercise and lots of water. If I completely deprive myself, I'll go crazy and then end up binging which is way worse.
  • Same! I would eat like ONE breadstick from Pizza Hut as a "snack" and when I came here and started putting things in, I saw that that ONE FREAKING BREADSTICK was 300 calories! I was appalled at many of the caloric counts of the foods I was eating. This place will help you tons!

  • From what people have told me, as long as you stay above 1200, you won't go into starvation mode. I think MFP comes up with your calories based on your height and weight and what weight you WANT. That is then based on you not moving a muscle all day. If you add in your exercise that you do, you always end up eating more…
  • I reward myself daily. :P If I'm at least 150 calories under my goal, I'll drink Mountain Dew (my faaaaaaaaaave) or eat a little ice cream.
  • You sound like me. When I first started this, I refused to drink anything but water or eat ANYTHING that was over, like, 300 calories. I was killing myself (mentally), so now I think I've reached a happy medium. We'll see. Anyway, good luck with this. I hope some people answer your question, because it's a good one--I've…
  • I am so like that too. I think because we are always taught that food is a reward/punishment instead of just something we need to live. I used to NOT eat if I'd had a fight with my boyfriend, or I'd drink Mountain Dew if I had a bad day because "I deserved it." I've found that being lazy helps. Weird, right? Well, if I…
  • The fact that you called yourself a new kid on the block makes me want to be your friend. :D Lol.
  • This is one place where I do not think you can have too many friends, nor do I worry about whether or not I know them in real life! :) Feel free to friend request me. :D
  • Yes, the water too! If you drink your 8 glasses, you'll be too full to snack. Drink it or chew gum instead of snacking.
  • I am a bored eater, too. I don't know how to help you there, other than to say eat things like light popcorn or something. It fills you up for not a lot of calories. As for working out, I could never get up and do it. I get up at 5:30 and get home anywhere between 4 and 6 or so. I have found that simply cleaning up my…
  • Maybe make tea and put honey and lemon in it? I know I do that when I'm sick. As for the food for the day--you are sick. You need to take care of THAT first and foremost. Now, that's not to say being sick allows you to go eat a Big Mac and large fries, but you do need to eat soup and good fruits and vegetables and juice…
  • I'm being hard on myself too, but even though I can't see my progress yet, I know I'm going to get there. So proud of you!
  • Wooooow man. I've never understood those people who think a home should be spotless, especially a FAMILY home! I'm sure keeping after a 2 year old is hard, so she can get over herself lol. :)
  • Awesome! There are lots of really helpful people here. Good luck! Feel free to add me if you'd like.

  • Thanks for the responses, everyone! I think the consensus isn't that I'm eating wrong, but that I'm not eating enough! Point taken. Tomorrow, I bring a banana to work with me! :)
  • I could definitely boil them in advance...how long do they keep, do you think? Yogurt does sound awesome...in fact, I've been meaning to bring it for lunch. Great ideas, thanks!
  • I don't really work out (I suck, I know) but if I were gonna pick one song that makes me wanna move (dance, run, whatever, just GET UP) it's "Everybody" by the Backstreet Boys. It's hard to sit still when that song is on. :)
