Omigod..... lunchrooms must be universal. Ours isn't quite that concentrated, but with bowls of candy on everyone's counter, gatherings predicated on the love of "orange" food and beer, and I don't mean rainbow vegetables..... It's no wonder at least two thirds of the people in my office are overweight. I've been here a…

Sad but true is the lesson I've learned about helping others with dietary and fitness choices. The ancient adage, "you can lead the horse to water, but you can't make him drink." It's wonderful to help people, I try all the time, but what I have to give up is any kind of attachment to the result of that help. People will…

I also have immune system deficiencies. I've been battling Chrone's Disease and other inflammatory issues all my life. I've been flirting with Primal/Paleo for a while but am now working on transitioning into it fully. One thing that just came to my attention was the use of probiotics to assist in getting some good…

I've been noticing the distinct turn to a high level of combativeness and general nastiness in the forums since I returned to MFP a couple of months ago. I wanted to find a place where I could get some good information and support for Primal/Paleo/low carb and I think this may be it. If anyone is interested in new friends,…

I want to remind everyone of something I have come to understand over the years. Reflections don't necessarily reflect the truth. (That statement has more than one kind of reflection in mind). Personal reflections aren't always necessarily accurate, nor are store windows (or any windows) which can add five or ten pounds,…

I only want to add one note to something that I am working on with regard to the yo yo syndrome. When I catch myself thinking "omigod, what have I done? I've gained back X pounds! I'm so fat and awful." I want to begin a cycle of positive thinking and instead of thinking about I'm fat and awful, remembering my own image in…

I am 5'4" 152 pounds and would love to see 135 but I'll take 140. I'm edging toward the Paleo diet, and like you, I workout probably 5 or 6 times a week: 3 weight training sessions with at least 5 and sometimes 6 cardio. I got the UP3 tracker about a month ago and am TOTALLY addicted. It's amazing!

This is exactly what I needed to hear today. Consistency, and while there is breath in our bodies, there is hope. Thank you, Roberta.

I'm sure you will get a lot of advice but I will start with this. Weigh and measure everything you put in your mouth for a while and enter it religiously in your food diary. If you aren't entering everything, you might be amazed at the extra food can slip in without you being aware. Diet alone is not enough, however. I…

I've had Chrohn's for a long time. Stress is one of the major triggers and I work in a law firm. Plenty of stress to be had by all! I find trigger foods have tended to change over the years, but there are a couple of constants for me: blueberries and alcohol, not necessarily together. LOL.. I've had to eliminate alcohol…

I know the struggle very well. I'm not in your age group, but my experience is that it doesn't matter. When we really make the commitment to cause the changes that will help us to become empowered and make meaningful alterations to achieve that goal, it doesn't matter if you are 20 or 80. So much more is possible when we…

I keep a journal - food diary in addition to logging in and keeping track with MFP. I keep track of time of day I eat, how I feel, any great "aha" moments - I find it very useful, particularly when I work with my trainer because the phone is too small to easily show sometimes what it is I have questions about. Another…
