  • I almost didn't do this when I realized we couldn't have chocolate. I thought, "NO WAY!" But, it's a challenge and I like challenges. If I hadn't decided to do this, I'd still be eating sweets and stevia, regularly. And, if I had such a horrible reaction when I quit stevia, I can't imagine what it was doing to me and how…
  • Groceries and meal prep started yesterday - burgers and chicken thighs. I am also tossing a pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Prepping some sausage for breakfast (with eggs) for the week. I'm excited! I don't even think I need to go grocery shopping next week with what I threw in the freezer. That's awesome!! Loving my…
  • Thank you, both! Just what I needed!
  • I would be up for a workout challenge. Something like 30 workouts/physical activities in 30 days for 30+ minutes (insert your own number, there). The 30/30/30 challenge?
  • Yesterday - Nothing sweet, no chocolate, no stevia . . . on a SUNDAY. First day down, 29 to go. . .

  • Hi, I'm Jeanne. 4 weeks on keto. Doing it (in order) for more energy, not being hungry all the time, potentially help with neurological disorder, and weight loss. I really like it so far. :)
  • I wouldn't complain if someone wanted to start a month-long group for this . . . Preferably soon because I'm starting Monday (early) . . . But, who am I to make demands? :) We could have check ins to stay accountable - weekly carb totals (aiming for low), weight loss (even if that's not the goal), ???. Just a thought...
  • I started keto to help with energy levels and because I was sick of starving myself to stay in shape. I wanted to feel satiated after I ate. Weight loss was/is third on the list. As I researched more and more, I found that being in ketosis can help with neurological issues, which I have battled all my life. That is a HUGE…
  • How is this different than keto? I'm getting confused as one of my goals is to get into ketosis. But, besides the potentially higher protein (which I am not worried about and right at my protein needs with the meal plan that I have for this), will it interfere with my goal of getting into nutritional ketosis? Maybe it's…
  • I'm going to start a week early, too. Made out my grocery list and realized there is still a week to go in April. Oh well, not turning back, now! :) . . . Or, just too lazy to make a new list. . .
  • Thanks. Fit_goat had said " I can post about why later", so that's what I was looking for. I have my own goals, but I thought there might be more to it (hence, more motivation).
  • Did we ever get a “why” for doing this? I think I am going to do it for at least 2 weeks. I’m on my 4th week of keto, past the keto flu, but don’t feel like I am nutritional ketosis – breath is fine, energy is blah-ish (normal) but not bad, weight loss has stalled (which is fine, doing this for the energy, feeling satiated…
  • [*] No fiber supplements, as they are counter-productive. Is psyllium husk considered a fiber supp? If so, why is it counter-productive? I've been avoiding it, but was going to restart taking.
  • Thanks! I've seen the Bacon and Butter book but the title was a turn off (unhealthy sounding). I think I'll give it a chance. I've found I've repeatedly returned to some cookbooks that I was barely interested in to start with.
  • Thanks!! I use the MCT oil because it has been recommended as a way to get into ketosis/adaptation by several resources. I was having bulletproof coffee, but that was too high in calories. I stuck with the MCT oil as a form of intermittent fasting (although I realize it’s calories so technically not a fast). I finish…
  • <= 1 oz cheese, 1/2 tbs kerrigold butter, 5 oz ground beef, 1/4 large avocado, 1 1/2 cups lettuce
  • Yes, and adding it to my lunch. It doesn't feel like keto flu. It's like - food . . . BONK!!
  • I had it for a while, but the calories were too high for me. Also, I found just shaking it in a thermos was sufficient for mixing and easier than a blender.
  • Awesome idea. Thank you!!

  • Good to know! Hadn't thought of it that way. I am hoping keto will help my neurological disease.
  • I'm not sure if the question was for me (JFMP), but I was looking for a consolidated list/cut thru the bs of the BEST foods for a keto diet with specifics. The "2 weeks" was more along the lines of "if you were stuck on an island" type of thing. I want to get the start of this done correctly because I have read that people…
  • I'll do it. I'm just starting keto and am going to drop my carbs averaging =<20/day next week for 30 days.
  • Has anyone ever heard of someone gaining weight even if they were strictly keto? Someone who did everything correctly? My weight and body fat isn't that high, body fat at about 17%. So, I'm worried about actually gaining when I start.
  • Lol. You guys are the BEST. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it!! :)
  • I just joined yesterday, but for this week, I've cut my calories by about 400. My weekly cheat meal (out to lunch with husband on Saturday) will be much healthier. I have a good game plan for my workout schedule. And, I've increased my water intake to a full gallon of water plus other beverages (coconut water and 2 cups of…
  • Name: Jeanne Age:47 Height 5'8 Current Weight: 163.8 Challenge Goal Weight: 145 Ultimate Goal Weight: 145 (maybe a little less) My motivation: (kinda funny) I want to fit into my riding leathers better. They were getting a little tight last fall and I have gained since then. I'm too embarrassed to have them altered and too…
  • Focusing on whole foods: 1. Substitute preworkout powder for matcha and lemon water 2. Substitute (most) protein bars for homemade protein bars 3. Substitute (most) protein powders for “real” food In essence, I can only use protein bars and powders when there really is no alternative and I need to get some sort of pre or…
  • Wow, I am boring compared to you guys! :)
  • . . . And I found a few more we could transform into weekly challenges . . . Eat three fewer bites of your meal, one less treat a day, or one less glass of orange juice. Wait until your stomach rumbles before you reach for food. It’s stunning how often we eat out of boredom, nervousness, habit, or frustration—so often, in…
