  • I agree with the idea of water weight gain. I know that my scale will read water as extra fat. Most electrical BF scales measure the time it takes for the electrical impulse to go through your body...if you have more water in your body, it will take the impulse more time and measure as an increase in body fat...
  • The first month I worked out, I gained 6 pounds. I almost stopped and went back to just cardio...but I stuck with it, and the second month I lost 5 pounds. So I assume in 2 months I gained 1 pound of muscle. I'm okay with that because all of my lower body measurements went down. My MFP calories are set at 1450, but I try…
  • My husband told me...and I cried. But he did such a good job telling me "You have been sucessful at everything else you have done since we met, what makes you think you can't do this?" and has been as supportive as our lives allow him to be. If it is a health issue, she should be told. I was not able to keep up with my…
  • Thanks for the ideas. I think next session I will try a bar instead of hand weights, or barbells on my shoulders instead of held down at the side. I think I have tendonitis in my right wrist, but I can't afford to stop exercising. I use exercise as my main stress relief, and I'm going to back to work this week (I teach). I…
  • You are adorable! There are men that would eat you up in a second. Allow him the chance for therapy and then make your choice. If he refuses, he's already made hsi choice. I'm so sorry...
  • EVERYONE feels like this. We all have something about our body that we hate. Weight gain and loss is not nice to our skin. Pregnancy is not nice to our skin. Most of us have to work really hard to stay fit and attractive. I have a good friend who is a size 6 or 8 at 6 feet tall. She looks like a movie star…
  • I suggest avoiding any heavy exercise during fasting. It will take about 6 weeks to rebuild your body after the fasting is over, so just go back to your previous workouts after ramadan, but lower the weights a bit. I know there are also special allowances for people that are sick during ramadan. What did your doctor say…
  • However, two weightlifting sessions is enough for your muscles to retain water as they try to recoop. When I started lifting, I put on a bout 3 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Have lost 2 pounds since (about 6 weeks.). Also, if you are eating alot of processed carbs, you will retain more water than if you are eating clean.
  • This month I gained 4 pounds before TOM... Took about a week, but I lost it all. It is very FRUSTRATING to see your weight fluctuate so. Also, during TOM I struggle with eating way too many carbs, and so I bloat more. Just keep doing what you are doing. In a couple days you will weigh less than you did before you gained 2…

  • I'm going to have to look into these...I really don't like lunges at all...they are my least favorite weightbearing exercise right now. Thanks!
  • 2mile walk to the gym 40 minutes of weightlifting (squat, seated row, push-ups, step-ups and jack-knives) an hour and a half in the pool with the kids (15 minutes of bad sdie stroke at rest time)
  • I'm using a 12 inch step...do you use the barbell for lunges as well?
  • Physically: To run a half marathon in May (already registered). To double my squat and deadlift. To drop my BF% by 5 more percent. Professionally: To keep putting my resume out, but until I find a new job to leave work at work. To keep writing. Emotionally: To not give so much of my time and love to my students that I…
  • Never...unless you count only shopping at Lane Bryant because nothing else fit me.:grumble:
  • I was sore after the first time I did both Workout A and Workout B for two days. Since then I have some muscle soreness, but not the "oh-my god, I can't get up from the toilet or brush my hair" soreness like the first time. Usually it's done by the day after.
  • I'm sorry, but 140 miles on a bike is no small deal! It's an even bigger deal when you factor in the fact that you are not at your ideal wieght...GREAT WORK!:drinker: I did 50 when I was 5.5 months pregnant with my first child...it sucked, but I knew if I could do it, I could survive chidbirth!
  • I started on the bench. I'm at stage 1 6a and can do the first set on the floor and the next two on the bench...hoping that by the time stage 1 is over I can do them all on the floor
  • Started at 257 and a size 24... joined MFP at 205 and a size 16... currently 184 and a size 12... I'm 5'7" and pushing for a 165 or a size 8--which ever comes first.
  • Any one seen my waist? I seem to have lost it somewhere between 30 and 37? Anyone?
  • Fiber one did this to me as well...try the fresh food without fiber one and see how you feel. I would have a bar at about 10 am and by 3 pm I couldn't stop farting and my stomach hurt.
  • When I was ten, there wasn't even internet. LMAO! I MIGHT have been able to get a pager...as big as a IPAD.
  • The cupcake eaters are the same ones b*tching about Gabby's hair during the olympics! Who notices what an athlete's hair looks like when they are doing a back handspring with 3 twists? WTF? Shut up and eat your cupcake!!!
  • I am shooting for over 200 pounds for both right now. My last set of Deadlift this workout (stage 1 5b) was 145 for 10. And it felt GOOOOOOOD.
  • as a long shot, you might try skin brushing once your incision has healed. t-tapp.com sells skin brushes and instructions. I also agree with the weight lifting, but get clearance from you OB first...
  • If the weight is heavy enough...I will grunt or yell. I threw shot-put for years (high school and college), and always would yell when I threw...proven way to add distance to my throw! Generally inhaling and exhaling is enough noise now.
  • PLUMSGRL-I deadlift opposite squats... Wanted to mention that I did Stage one Workout A 5 today and managed full parallel squats. Took awhile to get the rack in front of the mirror, but my sets were 115, 125 and 135 fully parallel. I will start at 125 for A6 and either do 125, 125, 135 or 125, 135, 135 depending on how I…

  • NICE! 355 is nothing to balk at!:drinker:
  • I agree with the other ladies. You can do it by yourself. Start with a lower weight until the form feels right (or until someone can check you form). I like the idea that Jennie had to get ONE session with a trainer...
  • I like GNC's whey isolate protein. It has 28 grams of protein. 130 calories. I usually mix it with a banana and half cup water, half cup milk. It covers my "extra calories" for lifting, my protein, and my recovery potassium!
