  • Date: December 1 Exercised?: Yes Calories?: Yes Tracked?: Yes
  • Sorry posted my December 1st in the wrong spot. I have corrected this and will post my December 2 at the end of the day :-) It's early in the morning, what can i say :-)
  • My Friday's are kind of a cheat day. I am training for a marathon in the fall and my long training runs are on Saturday mornings. I intentionally go over my calorie goal on Fridays because I need to make sure I am fueled for Saturday morning. I don't go crazy on what I eat and I do try to keep it healthy.
  • I also don't know how to post pics but I can tell you that between running and using MFP I lost nearly 40 lbs last year. I gained a bit back over the winter. I have still been running but not watching my calories as well. You just have to be careful when you run that you are eating healthy foods. Running will make you…
  • So many people, including my husband think that you can loose weight and eat anything but super health stuff. I lost 35 pounds last year (yes I have gained some back :-)) watching my calories and exercising. I still had dairy queen on occation, I had chocolate almost every day. My husband would also nag me about weighing…
  • When I was younger I was told I needed to gain some weight because "skinny girls don't look good with big butts". Wish I had that problem now but at the time that was rather hurtful. I felt like I didn't look good at any weight.
  • Getting up early and working out worked for me before I had kids. I literally would go to bed in my workout clothes. That way as soon as my alarm went off I would grab my bag and head to the gym, or go downstairs to my treadmill. I was working out before my mind really knew I was awake :-). I now work at a company that has…
  • If you just recently started running it is normal for you hips and/or knees to ache. You are putting a lot of stress on your joints that they are not used to. Doing some cross training ( squats/lunges) will help strengthen these areas. Make sure you are listening to your body. Some "ache" is ok. If it turns to "pain" you…
  • What doesn't kill you makes you stronger - Kelly Clarkson :-)
  • I agree with PurpleTina 100%. I couldn't have said it any better myself.
  • I was once asked if I was raised on a farm by a trainer at a gym. When I asked what he meant by that he said it was because I was really strong for a girl.
  • I mix my yogurt with 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and 1/2 cup fiber one (original) cereal. Sweet, crunch and filling.
  • Holy frinkin cow. You are looking A-MAZING!!!! Are you really the same girl I played volleyball with 2 seasons ago?
  • I just finished my first 1/2 marathon yesterday. When I first started my long runs I would come home starving. Then didn't make the best of choices because darn it I deserved a cinnamon roll after running 10 miles. At least that's how i justified it. The further I got into my training i found that if I at more and…
  • My husband has also complained about me talking about watching my food, talking about my running or how much I have lost. I have found that I have to back off. I have learned, at least from my husband, it means more to him to give me a complement when I am not asking for one. And I also realize that it means more to me…
  • I do have days like this. I think we all do. What i do is I make sure I still track it. That way I can see visually what I did to my plan.
  • I do occasionally fast. Some are holy days that I celebrate.. Other times are when I feel I need a mental and physical "reset". It's funny you are asking this question because someone was just asking me about the same thing. Some would think that after fasting you would want to go straight to BK for a whopper. It really is…
  • Love them.... My husband and I watch Paranormal Activity 3 the other day. I can only watch those on the TV. I get sea sick watching them in the theater with the cameras bouncing around.
  • I ran 12 miles on Saturday so I could have bacon, eggs and toast when I got home :-)
  • When I knew I was on the right track was when I was less concerned about what the scale says (though I still keep an eye on the stupid thing) and was more concerned with my 1/2 marathon training. When I started to realize I NEED to go over my calorie goal on Fridays (with healthy food choices) to have a good long run on…
  • I have a Polar, don't know the model because I have had it for, like, 12 years. Even as old as it is, I can see my calorie burn throughout the workout. Someone earlier said most if not all Polar HRM have that option, I would believe that.
  • Bellator - MMA OK, this is what my husband has on the TV and I am partially watching, but mostly typing :-)
  • Started (again) to lose this weight in January and joined a running group. In January my "long" run was about 4 miles at a 10:3 -11:00 min/mile pace. My profile pick is from this past weekend. 7 months and 36 pounds later I ran 8 miles at an 8:30 pace. Someone from the group was taking pictures as we were running by.
  • I also had a LOT more than 13 pounds to loose to start. I am within 10 pounds of getting there now. I had a bag of clothes that I put away and labled it "not anytime soon". I did the same thing, I pulled them out, just for fun to see how close i was, and guess what.... a lot of them fit. It is such a great feeling. So much…
  • what has helped me with my shin splints is hooking my toes (with my shoes on) under something like my couch while i am sitting on the floor and then try to lift my toes. It is a way to strengthen the muscles on the front of you lower leg.
  • Jules, you are a nut!!!
  • Not a poem but did you see the Bacon sundae at Burger King? Bacon makes everything taste better but a SUNDAE?
  • 1. water flavoring (not really a food but i get sick of drinking plain water) 2. eggs 3. apples (and other fruit) 4. spinach ( for salads) 5. chicken breast.
  • Did you run over a mat at both the start and the finish? I always go by the chip time but the most accurate times are when you run over a mat at the start and the finish. If there is only a mat at the finish, I go by my watch because then even the chip time isn't as accurate.
