  • Yea that is the being chased by a dinosaur look.
  • I agree with everyone else on slowing down. The worst way to begin running is going out too fast and too long. Only increase mileage 10% per week. It is better to slow down and keep form than it is to speed up and hurt yourself. I would suggest New Balance Good Form Running Clinic if you can find it near you.
  • This was happening to me for a while. It is definitely a shoe thing. It can be as simple as the laces, and I have found this solution (http://readytechrun.com/2013/05/shoe-lace-techniques/). The other thing could be the fit of your shoe and the toe box may not be able to accommodate your foot once it begins to lengthen…
  • I am now done almost 120 in the past 12 months. Here was my post with pictures at 113, I need to put up some new pictures as I found my body is changing more than the pounds currently. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1035693-113-pounds-lost-with-pictures
  • Good luck with your journey. It is worth it and you must take it one day at a time.
  • I definitely have had some muscle definition in my thighs from running. Thanks for noticing!
  • It took me quite a bit of time to get faster but found that it was 50% weight loss and 50% training and doing speed work. I suggest one day a week of speed work on a track doing interval sprints and repeats.
  • I will have to pick some new disguises for my next post. Even if she is fine with it some of the options are pretty entertaining.
  • It fell right off me literally. I think I had a body underneath that wanted out for a long-time. Looking back it was probably too fast and the doctors I worked with put the brakes on a little bit and had me transitioning to more calories once they realized how quick it was going. I made sure that my electrolytes and EKG…
  • My biggest thing was to take things one day at a time. I feel like I was never successful when I was thinking about how much longer it would take to lose the weight. Every day is a battle and as long as we win more than we lose we will be successful. I started out running and was a 41 minute 5k time and stayed around 32-34…
  • The biggest thing I learned was my triggers for overeating. I knew the right nutrition and proper eating but it was the amount I ate and the bad decisions I made once I thought I had failed. I was able to learn that even on a bad day making the decision to stop eating is very important. We will not be 100% everyday and the…
  • That was my... " I am dying running 10 miles" face.
  • That is the right attitude. You will fail if you do not believe deep down that you will be successful. Take it one day at a time. Your success is the average of all of your decisions.
  • You are right on!
  • Right now I am just trying to make sure I maintain a healthy diet and have continued to cut-out fried food and eating huge portions. I continue to track my food (not as diligent as I was in the past). In training for the half marathons my eating had to be increased and really losing weight and training for a race is hard…
  • My comment is purely something that helped me. I made sure in my mind I kept my expectations realistic and making myself remember 75 pounds is made up of 1lb X 75. Your post thanking me and questioning my comment seems more of a useless post.
  • @red1259, the success of the program is to make sure you see it is "one day at a time". Every 75 pounds lost is made up of losing 1 pound 75 times. The key to being successful on the diet is to not expect to lose 75 pounds in one week but losing it by making it the right choices over a sustained period of time. The program…
  • Which ingredients concern you? Just wondering.
  • I think that the biggest issue in this discussion is that everyone is using a different definition of "processed". Just because a food item is packaged or is flash frozen does not mean it is bad. Processing food essentially means it has been prepared or altered from an original state. When you eat at a restaurant or eat…
  • My fastest time over 300 pounds was a 5k in 34 minutes. This past weekend (235 pounds) I ran a 5k in 26:30. Losing weight has helped a ton but adding miles (30+ miles per week) has helped a lot more.
  • Nothing like bringing up an old topic. I have been wondering how to use the DEXA scan results to come up with "ideal weight". How did you adjust your BMI figure using the DEXA results?
  • I am 17 weeks in and have lost 85 pounds. It has been a miracle for me.
  • I had a micro-discectomy on L4/L5 last December and I have returned to full exercise. I have committed to losing weight to ensure that I can return to long distance running without causing undue pressure on my spine. In losing 70 pounds my bad has not felt better and it feels stronger than ever. I have now ran my fastest…
  • I currently workout with a trainer once a week for 60 min. It is $72.00 an hour as it is an elite gym with very good trainers. There are two reasons for a trainer that I have in my mind (others may disagree). I have been in both situations and found a trainer who works for each. 1) You need accountability for showing up to…
  • The reason is less about the food and more about the mental aspect of being able to control what you are eating. It has given be a regimented eating schedule and has taught me a lot about the psychology of eating. I know that it will be difficult to go back to normal food more often but I have learned invaluable…
  • It is definitely best for you to start with your strength routine as this will make sure you can push yourself in the strength training portion. This is the way I have always been trained and I find my lifting to be more effective as my first part of the workout.
