Here is my original post http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/791993-50-pounds-down-only-the-begining
I started my weight loss journey on September 4, 2012 and weighed in at 332.6 Pounds at 5'11''. I started a weight loss program through a local hospital using meal replacements (Optifast). I continued with shakes through January and lost 100 pounds by mid-January from my start. I am now down an additional 15 pounds. I continue to lose with an eventual goal weight of 180 pounds by October. The weight is not flying off as fast as it was and know that as long as I continue to losing that I am moving in the right direction.
Here is what I have accomplished since September 3, 2012.
- Lost 113 Pounds
- Lowered Triglycerides, LDL, and HDL into normal range from an elevated range at the start.
- Blood Pressure into normal range from an elevated range at the start.
- Lost of 12 inches on my waist.
- Ran 2 Half Marathons with a PR of 2:17:00
- Ran a 5K PR of 26:05
- Ran a mile PR of 6:51
- Completed my First Triathlon (Sprint Distance)
Here is me the week before starting the program.
This is November 2012 (I had lost 55 pounds at this point)
Here is the most recent photo I have running a race at 220 pounds.
Here is another recent photo with my wife disguised (better ask permission first).

Fantastic! You should be so proud of yourself. Keep it up. I now am close to goal and the weight is only shifting 1 lb per fortnight, but I am not starving myself, in fact I am eating very heartily! This is for EVER not for a month or two.:flowerforyou: :laugh:0

Congratulations you have done a brilliant job - and running to boot! What are you eating now and how has that been for you since going off the Optifast shakes? Have you had any struggles with food?0

Right now I am just trying to make sure I maintain a healthy diet and have continued to cut-out fried food and eating huge portions. I continue to track my food (not as diligent as I was in the past). In training for the half marathons my eating had to be increased and really losing weight and training for a race is hard to do at the same time due to the increased appetite offsetting the burned calories.
I will still do shakes for breakfast or a snack if needed in the middle of the day or to hold me over until dinner between work and the gym.
I have not had any struggles since ending the program as I learned a lot of good behaviors and I think that is the reason I was successful on the program. Anyone can cut calories and use meal replacements, it is the program and the behavioral changes that create the lasting impact.0 -

That is the right attitude. You will fail if you do not believe deep down that you will be successful. Take it one day at a time. Your success is the average of all of your decisions.0 -
