Here is the best advice I got and it works--->when a sugar carving hits eat a bit of coconut oil. just try to cook with it more too and it WILL reduce your cravings: http://iquitsugar.com/faqs/why-is-coconut-oil-so-good-for-you/

Great job everyone who has been doing this challenge! I aboslutely think sugar can be addictive. Here are some links: I'll post them in a spearte post as well in case people miss them! This is a youtube video from Dr. Roger Lustig. It's a long video but worth the watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM

I almost always carry snacks with me precisly becuase the temptation is so hard! I keep things like "yawp" bars, apples, almonds, carrot and celery sticks with natural peanut butter in my bag. I love having more food than I need so I am NOT tempted to go eat junk!
-
my favorite add ins for oats are : natural peanut butter, chia seeds, flax seeds, berries (low in sugar), chopped nuts, or even a bit of canned pumpkin. I also add spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg to increase flavor with no sugar at all~ My Day 2 was good--- I too crave suagr at night time. I think I am going to…

Yes, I LOVE the idea of constantly evolving....and replacing processed foods with more vegetables! What wonderful inspiration!

Wow great job everyone! The TOM and the night time cravings are something I struggle with as well. If I come up with any solution for that I will be sure to post it....I also had to skip the creamer in my coffee which I missed less than I though I would! Incredible all the places that sugar shows up...like in bread! Happy…

Yes, there are some things in the article that I do NOT agree with, but some good pieces as well. I think you have found the right way to approach this challenge for you Kim!

Hi Darla--- I consistently have the same problem, the only reason I did a bit better today was because I only had a 1/2 cup of mango (not much fruit at all!) I just looked at you diary and the only sugar source you had was fruit. Even with no added sugars I would say aiming for sugars to be in the 30-50 gram range…

wow thanks Beana!!!

I have been thinking about this too. I love things like pineapple and mango, I know they are high in natural sugars but must be better than what I usually choose (chocolate!!!!) For me a sugar craving often signals a need for rest as well. Also, chew natural gum, eat regularly and get enough fat and protein at every meal.…

Wonderful!!! Congrats on making the change to vegan. Great to have you in the group!
-
Welcome!!! Glad you are on board!

Exactly, and quinoa is NOT super high in calories. One cup (according to nutrtiondata.com is 222 cals. Not to mention 8 g protein and 5 g fiber. ) I would be more concerned about chocolate or donuts myself!
-
I make a "loaded sweet potato": Large Sweet Potato-120 cals Dark Leafy greens-20cals black beans- 110 salsa-20 cals 1 tbsp mayo (I use a vegan kind, about 35 cal) total= 305 calories! just bake the sweet potato in the micorwave, heat up the beans, and smush it all together!
-
Nope! No need to soak using this method.
-
BUMP--- thanks for sharing, something I struggle with is when I start to eat sugar I can't stop. Will look at these links later! :)
-
yes, i feel exactly the same way.

Yes yes yes! This is why I run. I love it!! This right here. And no, it doesn't mean I can go eat an entire pizza by myself, which I use to do when I first started:)
