Thanks all. Probably shouldn’t have mentioned the pregnant and 3rd trimester part as it’s taking away from the context of my actual question which was ‘how often do you not meet your targets’? As I am interested to know how regularly other people do and do not, how strict other people are etc, regardless of my own…

All these answers are so great, everyone is so different and inspiring in their own ways

I’ve found the FB group really helpful even just reading through other peoples questions has answered a lot of my own. Definitely welcome to follow :)

Absolutely everyone is different, as I said, 1700 is well above maintenance for me, feels like I’m getting lots of nutrition in and gaining weight at a reasonable pace ( a little more than I’d like but oh well). I’m also just at the start of my 3rd trimester so if Need a bit more I’ll up it (and do on days I feel like I…

My Dr is more concerned about my BGL than my overall calories, but I like to keep track roughly, because my hormones definitely have a habit of trying to lead me astray haha
-
Yes, started tracking before my diagnosis just to set healthy habits, so I haven’t had to change anything so far in regards to GD other than testing after meals. my Ob and team are happy with me eating what feels right for me if all my number look good :)
-
I haven’t been keeping track til recently but I’m 28weeks and have gained 8kg approx which is about 17.6lbs I think? I had 12kgs to loose pre preg though, I am aiming not not gain more than 11.5 kg (25lb) and then try and loose the whole 24kg after birth.
-
I am interested to see what other people are eating in the 3rd trimester also though as I’m only at the start of it atm

I’m trying for 30% carbs or less, 40% protein and 30% fat, happy for carbs to be a bit lower as I have gestational diabetes apparently. (I’m skeptical of my diagnosis)

Hi, I’ve was only diagnosed 2 weeks ago so I’m still in the learning phase as well, but completely diet controlled and so good so far. I don’t seem to need to be a strict as a lot of others on carb intake to get good readings, but regardless am trying to set up healthy habits now so they come more naturally after baby.…

I never mentioned anything about trying to loose weight whilst pregnant. I use mfp still to keep myself on track with healthy eating :)
-
Hi pregnant mumma’s can I ask what your pregnant calorie goals are. The internet only seems to want to provide me with a generic range for people already at their ideal weight
-
With my diagnosis my fasting sugar was fine, my 1hr test was up and then my 2 hour test was fine. I’ve been told to test 2 hours after every meal and so far they have all been well below the targets. I’m wondering what’s more important? Having good readings ? Or having carb consistency and being below carb targets ?

I’m just wanting to know peoples experiences as I left my OB and diabetes specialist feeling overwhelmed and confused. They have both suggested they don’t think I need a dietician at this stage as my diet wasn’t bad to start with, I’ve been tracking my glucose levels after every meal and have never even been close to being…

My BMI was 27 so I was overweight but not drastically (and hadn’t been for long, put on weight due to a pelvic injury and drop in exercise) I was really shocked to be diagnosed with GDM.
-
How strict did you both have to be with meal times and measuring carbs? I was told I need to aim for 30grams of carbs consistently every meal, which is really hard if someone else ever cooks for me or I don’t have a set of scales to measure everything out ? Could you ever eat out at a restaurants or had to just avoid that…

I definitely wouldn’t say ‘there’s nothing wrong with diet soda’ they are jam packed with artificial preservatives flavors and sweeteners (sweetners that often banned in countries outside the us or aus) but I would say as with everything a few in moderation won’t hurt you, but is not going to help with the foggyness of…

I haven’t talked to her about calorie amounts yet, but these days it’s actually recommended as healthier for mum and bub if mum was overweight to start with, she’s definitely on board with trying not to gain
-
I dont mean and end date for general lifestyle changes... just talking about goals :)

The worst offending area is the mummy tummy. I reckon the rest on my body will be ok. But it's that damaged skin on my belly that's troublesome !
-
Cosmetic surgery isn't within my current budget unfortunately, but definitely something I'd consider if/when my financial situation changes. And still very interested to hear about others people experiences
-
Just ordered some of the lush website. Hopefully a combination of that, Lots of water Strength training Massage And diet will leave me feeling wonderful.
-
Thanks ill give that a try for sure
-
Yeah I'm going to try and loose the next 10 more slowly and more strength training but I'm worried about the skin that is already there, not sure if I'm young enough etc.. for it to bounce back.
-
Thanks for all the helpful replies. :)
-
Yeah strength training is a bonus :)
-
Ok cool, that's good to know. I guess I'm a little nervous that when I start using ill realise I haven't been burning as many calories as I thought. I've been using various apps so far to calculate, like the Nike running app and the lorna Jane app, Some of mfp's estimates and other bits and pieces .
-
It may be just me but this isn't true for me, they keep me feeling full and it doesn't wear off. I actually don't feel like eating again after I've had them. They keep me feeling more full than normal pasta or noodles an most other foods in general. But again it may just be me. :) I'd definitely just say give them a try…

I use them heaps and have lost weight. ( I also drank a lot of diet soft drink and it didnt impede my weightloss in the slightest nor did it make me crave real sugar.) Any way.... Yes they smell gross when you open the packet , rinse them in hot water and the smell goes away. I use them as either a replacement to normal…

Not about 19 calories, That was just an example that there was a variation I can't believe I didn't know mfp took that into account. That is fantastic!!!
