I too am ashamed to say that after having lost 147 pounds following my VSG in 2011, here I sit nearly 5 years later having gained 50 pounds back. I did great until about year 2 then littke by little I started eating slider foods then I stopped exercising as much. Throw in there a less active job (gained 25 pounds in last…

I'm not sure why your friend felt the need to tell you what was said, but I know having significant amounts of loose skin can be frustrating and embarrassing. I have lots of loose skin myself, but I don't let it hender me. Yeah I have batwings, saggy belly skin and loose upper thighs, but overall I feel better about myself…

I was extremely heavy and starting losing weight about the time we decided to try for my one and only pregnancy. My ob/gyn recommended that I lose weight and start exercising before I got pregnant. I was getting healthier so I could have a healthy pregnancy so no the weightloss never changed my mind about wanting to get…

Unless you are eating too many calories, I would attribute it all to water weight. I do the exact same thing. I just had a couple days in a row of higher carbs and sodium than usual an the scale went up 6.8 pounds from one morning to the next. I was totally not happy. lol but then the scale was back down 5 of those 6.8…

I would get this all the time when I was at my lowest weight (sadly I've packed on about 30 pounds since then, but working on getting it back off). But I too was no where near skinny. lol I was 178 pounds and at 5' 5", that is still technically obese. I didn't look obese (and still don't at my current weight either) and…

I've come up with a few favorites that I have worked into my meal rotation that fill the void of the carb laden comfort foods of the past. One of my favorites is "lower carb" lasagna. It's not low carb, but it's way better than the original version. Because I love the noodles, I couldn't totally eliminate them, but now I…

I get all my jeans from Maurice's. They carry skinny jeans as well as jeans for different figures (curvy, etc.) and carry them in regular and plus sizes.

I always have found I get the best support wearing a cross trainer not a running shoe. I like New Balance, but you have to get something over a 600. The higher the number the better the support. You might also try going shoe shopping at the end of the day after your feet have swollen so you are getting a comfortable fit…

Even bariatric surgery will not work if he is uninterested in taking control of his life and his weight. WLS is a tool and must be used with diet and exercise or it will not work either in the long run.

eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, nuts, beans, low carb tortillas

I know having WLS and losing the pounds tremendously helped my joint issues. Before I lost the weight, my hips, knees and ankles hurt so bad most days it hurt to even walk. My knees were so bad that I was not only on strong NSAIDS on a daily basis, but also had cortisone injections and Synvisc injections in my knees every…

Me too. I like savory foods and salty/crunchy foods. There are protein soups available but I generally prefer to just eat things like light string cheese, turkey pepperoni, nuts, mini baby bell cheeses, chili (homemade and frozen into single serving bowls), turkey or beef jerky, pork rinds or things like that instead of…

Cook your meat in the crockpot all day (roast, etc.) and then pop some frozen veggies in the microwave and you've got a nice dinner on the table in about 10 minutes.

Are you trying to maintain or lose additional pounds? I was sleeved 11/9/2011. I am currently trying to lose regained pounds (and maybe some more as I never made it to my goal). Right now I am trying to eat between 1000-1200 calories a day. I try to eat at least 100 grams of protein and keep carbs at 60 grams or less. I…

When I was trying to conceive, my OB/GYN advised me to take a pre-natal vitamin with Iron and Folic Acid to make sure I was getting plenty of the necessary vitamins since alot happens to the fetus even before you know you are pregnant.

Over the years, I have learned that when other people have a problem with my weightloss and say I have changed, it is true to some extent. But the change was that I had the confidence in myself to not take their crap and not be a doormat for them anymore. I was/am more assertive about my needs and wants, I tell people no…

I make a lower carb lasagna that my whole family loves. We love mushrooms so I add those in as well. I call it lower carb because I still use noodles and jarred spaghetti sauce, but just on the very bottom. It is a litte messy for lasagna but not too bad. It's very filling too because of all the meat and cheese. I guess it…

I took 10 days off. I had my surgery on a Wednesday and returned to work 1-1/2 weeks later. I was tired and worn out after working 8 hours and would go home to nap. I really wish I had taken another week off.

I eat bunless burgers and salads mostly. I will also do bunless grilled chicken sandwiches. Chik-fil-a has grilled nuggets. They are ok, but I prefer their grilled sandwich minus the bun. I've been know to eat the toppings off of slices of pizza too. You'll be able to find something to eat pretty much anywhere you go.

I agree with the proper meals comments, but if you are planning to eat out of your cooler to save money on meals you can do chopped up veggies, fruit, boiled eggs, string cheese, yogurt, bottled water, nuts, Clif bars, dry cereal. I'm not vegetarian but we pack a cooler with this kind of stuff plus sandwich fixings for…

Chewing gum and drinking water. Those usually help but when they don't I usually just get a small portion (snack size bag of chips, regular size candy bar, single scoop of ice cream) of whatever it is I am wanting because I have learned that when that craving doesn't seem to go away I am truly just better off to eat the…
