  • That is perfectly normal. Your body is readjusting. I had numerous times in my journey where the scale either wasn't moving or was moving extremely slow (less then 1/2 pound a week) but generally I would see more changes in my body during those times and seemed to drop inches fairly quickly although the scale wasn't…
  • leftover Italian beef (no bun) with 1/2 slice provolone melted over it and leftover fajita vegetables
  • I right there with everyone else. Our office is a constant flow of food. If it's not a coworker bringing in dessert, then it's a vendor bringing pastries and doughnuts. We seem to have lunches for everything around here and it's never anything good for you. Generally pizza and cookies, subs with chips and cookies or bbq…
  • I stomach is still incredibly noisy at nearly 4 years out. So loud that others hear it and sometimes comment. It's not hunger but more like noisy digestion as it's worse after eating than when actually hungry. lol
  • This week it's: Lower carb lasagna (only have noodles on the bottom layer for a bit of noodles without too many carbs) - this is good for at least 2 meals at my house plus some leftovers for a couple lunches Italian beef (beef roasts on sale so a great time to make a crockpot full) - this will be dinner at least twice plus…
  • At my highest weight, I was in a very tight 24W pants and 3X (26-28W) shirts. At my lowest, I was in a size 10 jeans and Large shirt. Had some regain and currently wear an 11/12 in jeans and XL shirts. Trying to get back to the low weight as I liked how I looked and felt there. :)
  • I'm nearly 4 years out (Nov 9, 2011). I have experienced some weight gain (SW 325, LW 178, CW 206). I find it harder to stay on track and know that I must work harder than in the first year to lose weight. At this point, I have to count calories, carbs and exercise in order to lose even a couple pounds a month. I never…
  • Sweets. Although I like sweets, I'm more of a salty, crunchy person so if I'm going to splurge, I'd rather have chips or something like that. Sweets although they taste good, really don't do anything for me. lol
  • I've found myself that I need to limit my carbs as well. Not because carbs are bad, but they don't stay with me as long as protein and fat so in order to stay within my calorie goals and not feel like I am starving to death all the time, I try to stick to 50-60 grams of carbs a day which allows for plenty of non-starchy…
  • cottage cheese with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, pineapple or watermelon I also use it instead of ricotta in my lasagna I like it just plain as well.
  • I find that I lose better when sticking to cleaner natural foods (meat, fruit, veggies) and avoid processed foods including breads and dairy. I don't think it's because of the eating cleaner, I just think I take in way less calories when I not eating processed foods just like maillemaker pointed out. I learned this when…
  • Here are a couple of my favorites: Buffalo chicken 2.5-3 lb bag of frozen skinless boneless chicken breasts 16 oz bottle of Frank's Buffalo Sauce (I use the brand from the Dollar Tree) Just put the chicken in the crockpot and pour 1/2 the bottle of sauce over it. Cook on high 4-6 hours or low (6-8) hours. Then shred the…
  • I'm there too. I've struggled with wanting to have a "normal" relationship with food my entire life, but have come the conclusion that there is no "normal" when it relates to food and staying slim. Everyone I know that is "naturally skinny" does one of a few things. They either don't eat anything of nutritional value…
  • I was obese (250 pounds) when I became pregnant with my daughter and had lost already over 30 pounds before becoming pregnant. My doctor strongly advised against trying to lose weight during pregnancy. He encouraged me to eat healthy foods and continue exercising but not to lose weight during my pregnancy. He indicated…
  • Invest in the larger microwave steamer from Pampered Chef. I use mine all the time. You can use it to steam veggies and the like, but you can also cook rice and pasta in it and the greatest thing about it is you can use it to cook ground meat (hamburger, sausage, ground turkey, etc) in the microwave and it actually browns…
  • Are the two VLC days in a row or can you do say 3 normal days then a VLC day then 2 normal days and a VLC day? You can do anything for a day, right?
  • I want to join in.
  • I take Centrum Adult Chewables. My nutritionist approved them. I've taken these since just before surgery and I'm almost 4 years out now and my vitamin levels have always been good when I get my blood tests.
  • scrambled eggs, tuna or chicken salad Sounds like we are alot alike. I had my surgery in November 2011 and got with 18 pounds of my goal. Stayed there for about 6 months before slowing creeping up about 20 pounds over 1-1/2 years then I started a new job that is less active (and more time and stress which leads me to…
  • I am almost 4 years out from surgery (November) and just like garber6th, I can tolerate most everything. That can be both good and bad. Bad because I tolerate alot of things that aren't good for me very well. Good in that I don't have to look like the "picky eater" when dining out or with friends. And just like garber6th,…
  • Paul, I love pork rinds. My problem with them is I like them too much. lol I have to buy the single serving bags out of the snack machine at work because if I buy the bigger bags, I eat the whole thing or darn near in one setting. Pork rinds are a great replacement for my love of chips and crackers since the are crunchy…
  • Yes this totally hits home. I've gained about 30 pounds and I know my habits (both eating and exercising) aren't as stellar as they were in the first year. Trying to get back on track myself.
  • I hear you on the shakes. I just can't seem to force myself to drink them anymore. Even the ones I liked aren't even tolerable anymore. I eat cold roasted chicken, cold steak, even cold pork chops when we have leftovers. My biggest downfall is that since I can eat fairly normal portions at this point, sticking to 1200…
  • I was off work 1-1/2 weeks after my surgery. I have a desk job. I felt ok by then but still tired easily. Needless to say after 8 hours of work, I needed a nap. lol This continued for about the first month or so following surgery. Take loose fitting clothing to wear and flip flops or slides. Stock up on SF popsicles and…
  • If you are an evening snacker, then just plan it into your day. Save enough calories to allow for a small serving of whatever it is you like whether its fruit, chips, nuts, popcorn, whatever. Just be sure you plan it into you day and you will be fine.
  • If you're thinking the taste will be a bit "off" and your family may not eat it, try slicing it very thin and make steak fajitas or something like that with them. The seasoning will mask any "off" taste.
  • Thanks for the ideas ladies. I like the snacky foods so the seaweed and jerky may be good options to change things up a bit there and with winter in a couple months, I will definitely be trying some the protein soups.
