I used to LOVE a tuna on wheat with spinach, tomatoes, black olives and extra/extra jalapenos. I had to quit eating there when I saw the nutrition values on the subway website... the amount of sodium is outrageous

In the good old days i would drive to the corner store to buy the biggest fountain drink (44oz and up) at breakfast, lunch and dinner and usually squeeze in a couple more while running errands or while watching tv. I wasn't particular about the brand, as long as it had syrup, carbonation and cafeine. Nowadays, I only drink…

welcome meprior - I have found tracking my nutrition on this site very beneficial and educational. Though I always warn everyone to double check the values when you enter your food. A lot of people on here only track calories and/or carbs so those are the only values entered. I would also highly recomend finding a…

other than the fact that dogs should be restrained while in the car (for their safety).... i don't see anything wrong with that .

12 years ago I met my wife and I weighed 220. I had been working out and had dropped from 260 - 220. for now 220 is my long range goal (short term goal is under 300). Once I met my wife and we started dating (lots of restaurants) we continued that pattern. Everything we ate was usually restaurant or fast food. For 6'3" BMI…

I haven't been tracking any exercise I do... mainly because I haven't been very consistant at it. I'm fairly new to this site, so I have had initial success that is due to a change in my eating habits. I have found keeping track of my nutrition to the most usefull and beneficial. Giving up fast food for fresh fruits,…

Height: 6'3" Weight: 310 lbs Current goal: under 300 lbs Stretch goal: < 220 lbs This weekend my wife wanted to buy me a pair of jeans but they didn't have any jeans with a 42 waist. She asked me to try on the size 40's. They actually fit! Is it stupid that I did a little happy dance in the dressing room? I also was able…

Instead of a "cheat day" once a week... I try to make it a "cheat meal" once a week. I know I'm going to exceed my goals that day because of that one meal, but I'm not completely sabotaging everything I've done for the week. As I progress in my healthy journey, I hope to be able to tame those "cheat meals" somewhat. for…

I am in a similar situation (4pm - 2am).... the only way i have found to succeed is to pack a lunch. I bought one of the largest coleman lunch boxes they had. I bring my dinner and an assortment of fruits and veggies to snack on. If I don't bring my own food then I will exceed all diary goals.

shirataki noodles... sounds interesting. I'll have to check my local HEB grocery store for those.

see if your grocer has "Annie's Naturals" - salad dressing. the Lite Raspberry Vinaigrette has 60mg sodium, and Fat Free Mango Vinaigrette has 5mg sodium. Those are the only two dressings i have found so far low in salt. https://annies.alice.com/products/1276083

A year ago I bought an elliptical machine off craigslist for $400. New it would of cost 3x that. It was oly rated for 300lbs, but I figured that they padd those stats, so I'd be safe. I put a tv in the room as well so I could exercise and watch tv. Sadly, it spent most of its time as a cloths rack... but now that I'm using…

@lc52820 - I agree completely... I have been battling (and losing) blood pressure for over 10 years. I really hate that they (the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute) call it the "Dash Diet". They should call it the "Dash Lifestyle". :) Lots of diet foods have more sodium than their non-diet variations. Before I came…

I first came to this site to help me track sodium after my cardiologist recomended the Dash diet. Later he told me I should also eat more potassium so i started tracking that as well. If I can keep my sodium down, I've found that my calories will usually be around what MFP set as my goal. It's a daily struggle and I've…

6'3" - My max weight was about 320+ pounds. I have been on MFP about 1 month.

I struggle with high blood pressure as well and just recently joined MFP to help me track my sodium levels as well. It has been an eye opening experience learning how many foods are loaded with salt. I'm still struggling and trying make adjustments, like they say, "it's not a diet, but a lifestyle". There is a forum group…

By avoiding the sodium... i am finding that my caloric intake is down and I am losing weight. but I have also noticed that after a bad sodium day (like yesterday) my weight shoots up several pounds. I guess the whole salt and water retention thing is real. hard for me to tell, the bp med's I'm on cause my ankles to swell…

Keeping the sodium down is really tough! I've pretty much given up on bread :( I always thought subway had healthy choices till I started tracking sodium... their bread has tons. my boring "go to" diet is - BREAKFAST: old fashioned oatmeal with splenda, cinnamon and blueberries. LUNCH: a chicken breast seasoned with…

when i first got diagnosed with hypertension my doctor listed several things to help reduce it., "diet, exercise, meditation, yoga and massage." and I did all of them... for a couple months till money got tight. I did stick with the working out for a year or so (till I started dating my wife). If your open to the ideo of…

but everyday isn't like today.... it never is. Today it said I''d lose 7 pounds in 5 weeks, another time it said I was going to gain 2 pounds and friday it was only 1 pound lost in 5 weeks. Hopefully it all evens out, but I don't mind the message, i even started copying and pasting them into my notes
