  • Since Thanksgiving is still three weeks away. Start training for it now. The same way with your 5k, continue training for that. I ran two 5K's this past summer and I trained for two months for that. The best to do is interval training. Run for two minutes then walk for one, that helps monitor your heart rate. But I would…
  • If you are gentle enough, you can pull the white stuff off in one single piece. I have done it many times for my son since, he only likes the cookie part.
  • Instead of exercising, you should maybe consider seeing your doctor. Sounds like you may have Strep Throat. Otherwise try gurgling some warm salt water. Definitely take the day off for exercise though. Good Luck.

  • I posed this question to my personal trainer and she stated: "It makes no sense. It makes the heart stronger and where would the fat come from? Also look at marathon runners. They are tiny. And no fat!"
  • It sounds a little far fetched to me, but then again anything can be possible. Cardio is suppose to be great for the heart. I do cardo three times a week with my trainer and she is always concerned about my heart rate. I can ask my personal trainer if she has ever heard of this, since she is studying to be a health guru. I…
  • 1200 is what they recommend that you stay at or above. I'm sure if you happen to fall below 1200 a day here and there it won't hurt. But I would not advise doing it to to often, otherwise your body will go into starvation mode and you won't lose weight, no matter how hard you work out and cut your calories. The same thing…
  • Jonas I would be interested in applying for season 2.
  • I know this may sound weird, but you may not be getting enough calories. Your body may bein starvation mode. I was working on 4 days a week and eating 1200 calories and the scale was not moving so I talked to a trainer and they stated that I was not getting enough calories, so I increased my calories and before I knew it,…
  • I am a lot like you. I do excellent all week, eating right, exercising and then the weekend comes and it all falls apart. Either I eat way to much or not at all. I figure I tend to balance my week out. I'm not sure how much you are exercising a week, but I can usually burn almost 2000 calories during a 2.5 hour work out…
  • That was an awesome article. Thanks for sharing.
  • If your body is not use to running you need to gradually build up to. I'm currently training for a 5K in September. I never ever thought I would be able to run but I started out slow. Run for a minute, walk for two. Run for a minute, walk for two. Then I gradually built it up to running for a half mile, walking for a tenth…
  • You may not be eating enough. If this is the case your body will think you are starving it and go into starvation mode. I did the same thing, and after talking to my dietician, she recommended that I increase my calories and when I did, the scale started to move in the right direction again. Hope this helps and good luck…
  • Hello Lauren and Welcome. You will love this site and everyone is so encouraging. Don't think of this as a diet. Think of it more in the lines of a life style change. And if you happen to fall and splurge one day. Don't beat yourself up. Pick yourself up and get back on the next day or better yet the next meal. Here is a…

  • You can always try eat fruit or vegs on the drive home. Another one of my favorite snack items is the Fiber One bars. They are low calorie, high fiber, and they also satisfy that chocolate craving. Another good snack that I like, is take a high fiber tortilla shell, put a little bit of peanut butter spread on the shell and…
  • You can do it. If I can do it, so can you. Once you get started you will find out that its actually addicting. And if you need a pal along the way, send me a friend request and I can encourage you.
  • Like you, I am also 40 and battling this yo yo of weight. I have been overweight all my life. Since joining MFP I have lost almost 45 pounds since November 1st. Since I have been through every up and down during this time, I know I can encourage you. Trust me, if I can do this, anyone can..............
  • I've been on the yo-yo diet train for 15 years. I always told myself tomorrow will be different. Well those tomorrows, passed and eventually ended up many years later. I went to my doctor in October for a yearly physical, and I received that slap across the face that I needed to get me going. My doctor told me that if I…
  • I would enjoy being your weight-loss buddy. I need buddies to.
  • Welcome Roisin. You will absolutely love this stie.
  • I was a WW member for several months, upon my doctor’s recommendations. After receiving a harsh wake up call regarding my blood work, my doctor decided to send me to a dietician. She is the one that recommended this site. I absolutely love this site. This is so much easier then counting points. Because of my numbers, the…
