Grew up doing this. Probably the reason I was fat. I'd come home from school for lunch and my mom would have the whole box made and on a plate for me. Obviously, she knew zilch about nutrition. I became a macaroni and cheese addict at a very young age. Not to mention Kraft's Tangy Italian Spaghetti. Didn't even need the…

I wasn't aware that the psych was a pass or fail thing. Wow. The purpose of mine was only to make sure that I understand the changes that would need to be made with the surgery. And that I didn't have any serious underlying eating disorders. Mine wasn't a questionnaire, but a session with a psychologist. No paperwork. Just…

I don't know, but even at 11 months post op, I still have moments when I am dizzy and almost black out. I also know it's not dehydration. I really think it is just the low amount of food taken in. However, my being a gastric bypass patient could also be a malapsortion issue. With lap band I'm not sure, but if it continues…

107 pounds lost and down from a 42 DD to a 36 C. Smallest I ever wore was when I was 17-25 years old and wore a 34 B. I was about 10 pounds underweight then. Glad to be my "normal" size again. Might need a lift though. I'm thinking saggy baggy elephant here. LOL!

Me, I used to love eating out. I loved food and don't think I ever really took time to savor or enjoy the actual taste. Things I thought tasted good back then I now find to be just terribly low quality. While I still enjoy the social aspect of dining out, it is definitely quite stressful finding something that is…

Really impressive. Congrats on doing so well! I had bypass 11 months ago and have less than 10 to go to reach my goal. I hit normal BMI at about 8 months out. Would sure like to lose some of the stomach and the flappy arms here though!

@Lolabug--this is the thread where the Labor Day Challenge began.
-
So far as I know, it began under another thread that concerned a previous challenge. I started this on July 9, so I think that date is pretty accurate.

I am still a firm believer, whether a wls patient or otherwise, that we need to eat back as many of our exercise calories as we can. Our bodies learn to accommodate to our lower calories and adding strenuous exercise w/o increasing calories essentially tells the body that it needs to hang on to what is taken in for the…

Well, we are getting very close to our goal date. My goal of 135, which is also my ultimate final goal, is very close. I am at 138.4 and still hoping to see that 135 by September 2nd. I have not been doing much different, just the normal exercise I do most every day. I have upped my calories a bit and seem to see more loss…

I was a size 24 in October of 2012. I have been a size 8 since July. So, that is what, about 10 months?? Not impossible. Diligence, daily logging and wanting to be a healthier me.

Congrats on attempting to change your life for the better, whether you do it by surgery or without. I had gastric bypass almost a year ago (9/27/12) and it definitely has changed mine for the better. As the previous poster said, it is a great tool if you use it properly. Before surgery, get your head in the right place,…

I appreciate you explaining this for us. Hoping that things improve for OP quickly.

I had roux en y and NONE of my intestines were removed--only "bypassed" as the name implies. The video at the website shows how the procedure is done. Nothing removed in any of the surgeries--at least not by my surgeon. I wouldn't have had it done if parts were removed, one of the reasons I didn't choose the sleeve.
-
Wow. I didn't think that they removed any of the intestines with either the band, the sleeve, or the bypass. You can view videos of the surgery at www.drstlaurent.com. I have never heard of intestines being removed except in cases of severe ileus or damage. I would hope that anyone looking into weight loss surgery would…

I lost 12 lbs in the week prior to my surgery by drinking 3 Bariatric Advantage Protein Meal Replacement shakes each day, which were 160 kcals + 27 grams of protein each, and eating a sensible meal of 5 oz of lean meat and 1/2 cup of cooked vegetables OR 1 cup of raw for my dinner each night. This totaled at LEAST 90 grams…

With 2 weeks to go, there is zero chance of me making my goal. But, all is not lost (pun intended!) because I am slowly making progress. Hit the 140.0 mark this morning, meaning I have exactly 5 lbs to that Labor Day goal and 10 pounds to go to my ultimate goal. Though I wish the weight loss was faster, I do know that…

^^^^ This! ^^^^ Scientists have proven that it would take an ENORMOUS amount of aspartame to do even minimal damage to our bodies. As a type I diabetic, I have been using aspartame since NutraSweet was introduced back in 1985. I think that for years I drank around 4 or 5 2 LITERS of diet soda a day! (Serious soda-holic!) I…

Yep, it can be quite bothersome that somewhere along the line our spelling and word use has become very loose where lose and loose are concerned....
-
Would be nice if it actually always worked that way. It's not written in stone. Scientific theory, but honestly does NOT work for everyone. If that were true, then I must have a seriously low BMR and TDEE.
-
Glad everything went well. Which procedure did you have?
-
Still shooting for that goal, but have been stalled again. The last few pounds seem to be very difficult to get off. I am currently 140.6, still hoping for that 135, but will be happy just to see that 139 mark! It seems I am losing about 1 pound a month. Uggghhh! Will keep at the strength training, but upping the cardio…

Awesome!!!! Bet it looks great too!! ***Looked over my last post---it was SUPPOSED to say that dying your hair WON'T be a problem. Dang. Sorry if that threw you off.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Six Flags in Arlington, Texas recently had a woman fall to her death because the bar did not click and restrain her properly. Too small, too big, health issues...whatever the reason may be, caution needs to be used with these rides. If you don't hear that double or third click, get out, get off, don't risk it. Very sad…

it IRKS me when people don't know how to spell "irk" and spell it "erk!"
-
I actually have heard of this and heard of good outcomes, though I do not know anyone personally. I live in Texas, though I am on the Louisiana side, but lived in West Texas for a short, short time many moons ago. Not necessarily a bad idea, but definitely do your research! Very sorry that you are unable to get it done…

Good luck with everything!!! I am almost 11 months post gastric bypass and it has been almost too easy for me. I hope it all goes as well for you. I am on MFP every day, log everything I eat, and most of my exercise. I think MFP has been a huge key to my success--and education. Learn everything you can, don't wait till…

Wow. First off, OP, congrats on your weight loss and your decision to be healthy, the way that is right for YOU! As a person who has had gbp, I am NOT an advocate for it and think it is NOT the best way to choose to lose weight. The best way for weight loss is decreasing calories and exercise. I also am a firm believer…

Currently doing a Labor Day challenge in this group. I'm always up for challenges. I am 10 1/2 months post op from gastric bypass and reached normal BMI about two months ago. I still want to lose at least 11-15 more pounds. Oh, I love to find/get new recipes. I do a LOT of cooking and tweaking of old recipes and am always…
