  • I eat almost all veggies, I could totally be just a veggie eater if my health issues didnt require me to be Keto. The only ones I dont eat because of carbs are carrots, corn, and potatoes. And lima beans, because those are just nasty. Cucumbers, zucchini, squash, green beans, peas, spinach, kale, mustard greens, arugula,…
  • There is an amazingly beautiful area in Oregon called Crater Lake. Look it up but we've been there a couple times and it is breathtaking every time. And I am not a huge fan of Oregon, I get car sick driving thru all the trees, but Crater Lakes makes it all worth it.
  • I was keto when i conceived my son but went low carb, 50 -100g net a day, while pregnant. He was exclusively breastfed until 8 months when we started some solids but he nursed until the night before his 3rd birthday. He nursed thru my pregnancy and I tandem nursed both kids for 16 months. I am still nursing my almost 18…
  • We have a low carb casserole dish we make with a little bit of wild rice and you are right, i havent noticed any problems with that. Wheat is the worst, even just a couple tablespoons or like those low carb tortillas are horrible for me.
  • I have rheumatoid arthritis, since I was 25, and very swollen joints if I dont eat Keto. Wheat, even in smaller amounts, seem to make my swelling so much worse then higher carbs in general.
  • https://beautyandthefoodie.com/keto-nacho-cheese-crisps/ These are really good. But we do them a little differently. 100g sharp cheddar cheese, grated 25g almond flour 1/2 tsp garlic powder Heat oven to 400 degrees F Pulse in a food processor until a course meal forms. Use a tablespoon to scoop into 12-14 mini muffin tin…
  • Yeah, me too. Was told we'd have better luck being struck by lightening then getting pregnant naturally due to both my pcos and hubby's swimmer issues. Started keto and we've been pregnant 4 times in 5 years, all naturally. This last time ended in an odd traumatic ectopic but I got pregnant thru using birth control and…
  • MANY many PCOS and/or Hashi's women find that keto helps them get their cycles back or make them regular. Insulin is a hormone and can have a great affect on all the other hormones in your body. If you keep insulin out of the equation, it often lets your body regulate the other hormones correctly. Also based on reading…
  • I personally have to stay under 25 to 30 net carbs a day to see any kind of weight loss. It can be rough to keep your carbs low if you are not in charge of your meals everyday.
  • https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum is a great resource for info on keto and low carb. many of the same people and/or mods here are part of that group since keto is such a huge help for the majority of pcos sufferers.

  • My daughter has thought about trying those types of devices in the past, but going LC/Keto helped enough she didnt need to. But ive seen lots of mixed reviews on those. Some say they work and for others they dont work at all.

  • I do between 30 and 50 net carbs a day but that is because I am still breastfeeding my youngest. When I am not pregnant or breastfeeding, I keep the carbs under 25 net a day. I do net because I often eat things that are high total carbs but also high in fiber. Some days that is a difference of 30+ carbs and if my body cant…
  • I am keto also. Have been for a few years minus the pregnant and breastfeeding time. The low carbers daily forum board on here is soo very helpful with new recipes and ideas and info when it comes to sticking to keto.
  • https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/3070-p-c-o-sis Good place to find info and success stories of people who lost weight, got healthier and/or regained their fertility there.
  • What was the range for your insulin test? The one they run on me is 0-24 is normal range, for fasting insulin levels. So a 12.3 would be a good thing. But they might have different ranges on different tests or different testing facilities. I am not sure about the 95 for blood sugar if you are diabetic. Last time they ran…
  • I've been on and off since 2014, but we are back on Keto since Dec 3rd. Hubby, daughter and I all do it together and that helps us stick to it better. Send a friend request if you want.
  • Congratulations on AF @LolaDeeDaisy23! I love how PCOS gets us excited for things others dread, like AF every month. I've posted my story somewhere here before, maybe the TTC success stories sticky. TL:DR is we were told we'd have a better chance of being struck by lightening then getting pregnant naturally. Hubby has bad…
  • This is exactly right. HCG is created by your body when the baby attaches to the uterine wall, which is why you wont get a positive on pregnancy tests when you ovulate, only after implantation. Progesterone is the number one ESSENTIAL hormone in getting your baby to stick to the uterine wall. If it doesnt implant well,…
  • I posted this on another thread but here it is again: Oh a place to tell my story! I was dx with pcos at 12 or so, put on BCP for years. Came off them due to some family issues I wont go into and got pregnant at 16. Lost the baby around 6 weeks. Didnt get my hormones checked because I was not familiar with pcos and the…
  • Oh a place to tell my story! I was dx with pcos at 12 or so, put on BCP for years. Came off them due to some family issues I wont go into and got pregnant at 16. Lost the baby around 6 weeks. Didnt get my hormones checked because I was not familiar with pcos and the side effects back then. At 17, I moved to my Dad's and…
  • Most herbal or natural remedies take a while to work. They work WITH your body to do what needs to be done, not force your body to behave like BCP or metformin do. So be patient. In all the info I've read, it takes 3-6 months minimum for Vitex to work fully. It took me almost 9 months for my hormones to be balanced using…
  • Inositol is helpful but you might need more than you are taking now. I was on 6g to 8g a day before I could cut down my metformin but I've heard of people on 12g a day.
  • Welcome! Ive also lost about 5 lbs so far this pregnancy but I am just 6 weeks. My OB is ok with me losing weight, a little, and eating low carb so trying not to gain more than the 15 lbs total she's allowed.

  • I walked to the mailbox and back today. Because of the high risk pregnancy I cant do more than that right now but eating decently low carb.
  • I am surprised at how many Indiana girls are here! I am an Indiana transplant from Huntington Beach California actually. Love it here, live in the middle of corn/soy bean fields between Notre Dame and Purdue North Central. Hard to find doctors in our area tho because most are in Chicago, about 45 minutes north of me, but…
  • I buy Inositol off Amazon, about $15 for a month supply and I take about 6g a day. It has been great for me. I also take Met but the Inositol has helped hormonally and with insulin.
  • I also use inositol, about 3g twice a day. But you shouldnt use it if you are taking any kind of hormonal birth control. It can mess things up for you and the birth control.
  • Met isnt the Begin all/End all for keeping the pregnancy with PCOS. Met helps those of us with IR because it helps keep our insulin lower, insulin being a hormone itself, which in turn keeps our estrogen a little lower and our uterine walls not quite so thick or gummy. So it does help keep the pregnancy viable if you are…
