  • I really want to try this! I make my own kombucha and Kiefer but havent tried sauerkraut or kimchi yet, altho I really want to. Thanks for posting this!
  • We do lots of fermented foods. Kombucha is amazing, even my toddlers love it. Kiefer is easy to make homemade and the kids love that too. Sauerkraut and kimchi they have more trouble liking but if you like it, that is good. Plus a good probiotic and yogurt.
  • we've been doing as many episodes of the original Zombies! Run as we can before it is too cold to go outside. But we have also done lots of their new stories, which are fun. And wait...There's a discord? Where do I find that info?
  • Diet A&W rootbeer with cream in it, great rootbeer float.
  • So while this may be true for some women, it is actually strongly recommended for PCOS by the top PCOS doctors because it helps balance your hormones. Insulin is a hormone and Keto can help keep your insulin stable and at a good level so then the rest of your hormones can balance themselves out. A great many PCOS women who…
  • We just got it and everyone seems to be enjoying it. Love that there are different difficulty levels. The kids even stand next to us and run when we run, knee lifts when we do, etc
  • Welcome! I am sorry you have PCOS, it is a rough and terrible thing. Most women have found high fat/low carb has helped their pcos symptoms the most, because of the hormone/insulin response associated with PCOS. But you might find those that are doing well on low fat here. Either way, welcome!
  • I did LCHF during both pregnancies with my youngest two kids. I didn't advertise I was keto/LCHF to anyone but I did let the doctor know I was lower carb, had been before pregnancy and was during pregnancy. So if ketones showed up on the urine tests they do every single time you visit the ob, they'd know why. During my…
  • There are many here that know much more than I do about PCOS and hormones. But many have found success in cutting out carbs, going LCHF or Keto. Insulin is a hormone, and if you get your insulin under control with diet, then the other hormones have an easier time following suit. Metformin can help, but not nearly as much…

  • Most of my info comes from a PCOS point of view. Again, I have no idea how much of this applies to 'normal' people. But there are studies like https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1334192/ and https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3752890/ that show keto/lchf is a benefit to pcos and IR. There are on going…
  • Insulin Resistance. It is like pre pre diabetes, sort of. But it is a separate test and people with IR often have normal blood sugars. I also have an auto immune disorder and cutting carbs has helped me also with the inflammation.
  • No where in that comment did she say she used prepackaged meals. This is the kind of flippant and assumption making posts that people are talking about when they talk about 'getting mad at CICO' people. There are lots of people out there who have found that WHAT they eat matters. That all calories are not the same for them…
  • In the launch pad stickies at the beginning of this forum, there is a MFP troubleshooting section that gives you an easy to download script to run on your diary page that will add a net fiber column. It is probably the best thing you are going to get since people have been asking MFP for this since before it was sold to UA…
  • Broccoli and cheese soup is really good in the winter. Broccoli, chicken broth, cream cheese, cream, cheddar cheese, garlic and/or onion. Done, can do it in 15 minutes.
  • the low carbers daily forum has a few breastfeeding while keto posts and is a really active place
  • I have shared my experience on here before, but the tl:dr is we were told we'd never have kids naturally. We went keto/LCHF in March of 2014 and have been pregnant with out any help at all 4 times now. TTC is such an emotionally rough time and stress eating is so easy to do. It is so nice to have places like this to get…
  • there is an mfp blog post about how low carb diets are bad that keeps popping up on my blog feed, but i dont think that is what you were looking for
  • of course! your body will use the carbs first in milk production as that take A LOT of energy to make. So calorie input based on hunger is very ok during those first few months. You need to take care of your body and your milk production first, weight loss can come later if you need to. Funny thing is, your body uses carbs…
  • Newer studies out there have shown that gestational diabetes, especially uncontrolled, also predisposes your child to diabetes later in life. So controlling your blood sugar both before, during, and after pregnancy is super important for both you and your children.
  • I had it with both my last babies. I had a meeting with a diabetes educator at the hospital I was delivering at that wanted me to eat something like 250g of carbs a day and just add insulin as needed. I thought that was crazy and talked to my OB. She was find with me just staying low carb, about 50g give or take, a day and…
  • I had to do about 80g to 100g total carbs a day or id see a dip in milk supply. Once they started some solids at about 6 months, then i slowly went down about 5g carbs every week or two until i was 25 to 35g net carbs a day and im ok there. Im down to nursing one kid now and she's almost 2.
  • I had to just go lowish carb until the kids were about 6 months old or it dipped my milk a little too far low for my comfort. But after about 6 months, i lowered my carbs slowly until i can do keto without a milk supply. Other than that, I've had no problems postpartum with keto or low carb. Just be aware your fertility…
  • There are a few PCOS boards and some of the people over lap with the Low Carb and keto boards. Welcome!
  • I have to track my calories and do keto to lose any weight with pcos. Exercise can help me some too. But I cant just do keto since even on keto, my calories have to be a bit lower then a non-pcos person for my height and weight for me to lose weight.
  • I almost never drink milk but I use whole fat milk to make Keifer here at home and drink that.
