  • Depends on your composition and how much weight you lose. I am 5'5" (right now my weight is off because of thyroid disease) and at 150lbs I was a 32-34DDD and at 130lbs I am a 30-32DD/DDD. So all in all I think I lost an inch with 20lbs. Losing that inch helped a ton though. Also, figleaves.com is your friend.
  • Equestrian here. Every. Single. Ride.
  • I'm 100% leggings. I feel so bad in shorts, thick thighs and small waist. I wear a size 4, so it's not like I'm huge, but I swear how shorts fit I look like a high schooler in a wrestling singlet. Totally interested to hear if there are some good shorts for my body type, as I will need them for a dance class coming up.
  • My dad spent a lot of time in a wheel chair after losing his foot. The arm bike is a good cardio start up, then just add in whatever else you feel comfortable with in small doses. He does upper body weight machines at low weight high reps for cardio too now.
  • There are people who compete on here, but you'd probably want a coach for your first competition. I know you are in a great place BMI-wise, so it just depends on how you put on muscle and your symmetry...beyond that I don't know much, I'm not a bikini competitor.
  • They can come and go for quite a while. Just use good judgement. I have had at least three from horseback riding.
  • Do what you enjoy. Your food intake will be most important. Don't count the calories burned, as you'll most likely overestimate unless you are doing a serious amount of work every day. Start small so you aren't super sore and less likely to do it. If you feel like you can do 1.5 hours of cardio and strength, absolutely go…
  • Sounds like sciatica. Make sure you are stretching as much as possible, with at least 5 min of hamstring stretches per day. I would check in with a doc too, even though there isn't too much they can do to help now, but hopefully they can prevent making it a long term thing. Mine lasted years after a bad horse accident. Ice…
  • Just a head's up, since my Master's was in this...it takes at least two weeks for the shot to be effective. Most likely you had been exposed prior to getting the shot, or within a couple days.
  • Rode my horse the 1st and 2nd, weight lifting at the gym this AM.
  • I had Tietze's last year and costo for about 7 months. I went to PT and massage, took a daily anti-inflammatory (nambumetone, easier on my stomach than advil). I just worked out around it, like I'd just do squats and lunges, no arm/upper body at all, or for a couple months my PTs wanted me to just walk on the treadmill and…
  • I'm going to start in Feb, I want to use this month to do a lot of pushups and get my flexibility back, as well as back into my normal weight lifting routine.
  • I am a regular gym goer and weightlifter, and I would love to see you at the gym. It is so inspiring to me to see people overcome their fears and just find joy anyway they can. Trust me, I feel the same way when I'm working out next to an obvious fitness model! But I'll never reach my goals if I don't. Don't worry, the…
  • It all depends on your body, how you put on muscle, gain strength, etc. Don't compare yourself to other people, unless you are checking form (even then, maybe not, lol. My brother just hit 583lbs on his deadlift, and he mentions multiple times in his video that his form isn't flawless at those weights). I have had chronic…
  • Thanks again. I especially like that jeans brand, I'll have to see when they go on sale!

  • hill8570...yes to what you said, but there have been studies that show it helps with muscle and injury recovery. http://www.nutritionexpress.com/article+index/authors/edmund+r+burke+phd/showarticle.aspx?articleid=199 There are also studies that show it does nothing to help, but I think my brother's theory as a heavy lifter…

  • Thanks everyone. I do like my body, especially since I've really started lifting this year, but it would be really nice to get jeans off the rack... The creatine was a suggestion by my brother, who is a strongman and a doctor, and he feels it could help me reduce future injuries...of course, his deadlift at 545lbs is a…

  • I always lied about mine when I was heavier. I'm 129lb now, with a goal of 123-125, so I actually tell people for the first time ever. People at work have commented on the loss...I was 150lbs when I started there two years ago (told folks I was 135lbs), 140 at the start of this year (told them I was 130 when asked), and…
  • I want to have the last 5lbs gone by Christmas, and be a solid size four, not a six in some things. It is really hard now, I feel like a 1lb a month is reasonable. I will join :)
  • That makes the most sense to me. I am wheat free due to a specific carbohydrate I can't digest in wheat, not gluten at all. Mine is to help with IBS. Your doctor could try be getting you off gluten, off something else in wheat like I am, or just want you eating less carbs.
  • I would like to join. 27, 5'5", 129lbs, was doing a body recomp, hurt my back, have to just traditionally diet and walk until I can get back to the weight room when the doc oks it.
  • I was the chubby woman in the weight room last year. Now I'm the lean, fit woman in the weight room. Worth any uncomfortable feelings to start.
  • Yes, massage and PT will help. I eventually had surgery for a torn labrum, but if yours isn't that serious I would do both for relief and better gait/posture.
  • How does your stomach feel? I have IBS, so sometimes healthy foods can actually make things worse. I can bloat up like no one's business, lol. You could be eating a very healthy diet that is irritating your gut.
  • I thought the equation involved converting body weight to kg (divide by 2.2), then multiply by .8 if sedentary, 1.3 if active, and 1.5 if very active (pro athlete, body builder, etc). I am active and in the low 130's, so my goal is just shy of 80 g per day. I'm a vegetarian too, and for me I find I have to supplement with…
  • I'm a bit of a brand snob, but just go to goodwill in a nice part of town :) I had to buy transitional stuff as well this week.
  • I'm 5'5" 131lb, and I'm trying to get to 125, but at this point I only want to lose fat. I get what you are saying. I get people warning me I'm "too skinny" which is hilarious. 125lb is also a healthy weight for 5'5".
  • I weigh daily, but take 5 days off that part of the month:)
  • I have GAD and depression-- and technically I have mold-induced asthma, which doesn't sound anywhere near as horrible as what you are going through :( I only use a rescue inhaler. For me, I need some sort of exercise each day to keep anxiety and depression at bay. I ride horses, take walks, weight lift, hula hoop, hike,…
