I read the OP and skimmed through a few pages of comments. The nature of his problem is not clear. What does a woman who "no longer takes care of herself" look like? I work on my thesis from home. I wear track suit pants, and a t-shirt. I live a 5 minute walk away from the supermarket. I tie my hair up, don't wear make-up,…

I've been really intrigued by the number of people who don't want to talk about work, after work. Doesn't make the best impression about how much we all enjoy our work. Thank-you for all your comments.

OP here. I think that I momentarily lost perspective when I posted. Hubby ignores me all the time. Ha! I just totally forgot. But it was one of those weird moments, where you're just sitting there and your mind is able to close off what the other person is saying, and then it comes back online again and hears what that…

He's got an amazing brain. My thesis is much better for all the discussions we've had over it. I just realised something though. He ignores me all the time when I'm talking about random stuff. I don't know why I felt so bad about it.

Yeah, I just didn't want to crush his feelings. It's tricky. Sometimes I've kinda gone, "I can't handle this conversation right now" and I feel like he's a bit crushed at being closed down like that. Thanks for your comments everyone. I better get back to my thesis.

OMG! You're right. I'm submitting my doctoral thesis in about 3 weeks time, so, it's fully consumed my life.
-
I think that's why I didn't stop him. I wanted to. But, I had this feeling like maybe it didn't matter if I was or wasn't listening. He just needed to rant and rave. We weren't trying to solve a specific problem that needed my full attention.

I'm not sure. Living room was dark. Only the t.v. was on, and I was getting hammered on my second glass of wine. I just remember thinking... mhm... my face feels hot.
-
Eek. Not trying to get everyone riled up. Just wanted to know what the etiquette is on these things.

Gosh, I should point out that every other time I have no trouble having a conversation about his work. I find it very interesting. It was just yesterday, I simply couldn't follow the conversation at all. But, I didn't know what to do. It was a bit surreal to be honest.

WOW! Well done. It looks like you put in a lot of effort, 47lbs that's a tremendous amount. You should be so proud and so pleased with yourself, your will-power, your focus. I'm totally impressed and happy for you.

Try a recumbent bicycle. I use it in place of the normal gym bikes/spin cycles because I work at my desk all day studying and find my back muscles are too tired to then get on a bike and into that forward lean. The elliptical is hard work, but I do find that increasing the tension on the machine can be hard on the muscles…

Hey there, just wanted to say that I've been following your forum question. Boy, did you start something with this topic! Bet you'll think twice to start a forum question on guns ever again (unless its a gun members forum of some kind). Have you figured out an answer to your question tho?

Anais Nin - Delta of Venus. The book is composed of a series of short stories. A writer who wrote erotica in a beautiful poetic manner. Some of the stories are, however, very much on the boundary for some people. Raises all kinds of questions about what you may find erotic. P.s. I can't stand Twillight. Picked up the first…

Hey, you just had a life experience that allowed you to learn an important lesson. Life has its ups and downs. There is no straight line of awesomeness. Sometimes you're on track and operate according to your expecations, and sometimes you forget or life distracts you and you focus on other things and then you don't focus…

Mhm.. I eat bananas, no problem. They're soft. But yeah, drink something with your food. You basically want to keep your stool soft. Nutritionists might advise against drinking water before eating or with eating because you're flushing away the acids in your stomach, but I just get constipated if I eat food without water.…
-
Depends on why your constipating has happened. I had this problem quite severly last week and discovered thru research on internet that moving and not sitting was a key recommendation for how to become un-constipated. Went for a quick walk around the block and it made things move down there. But prevention would be best…

I live in New Zealand.... the letter writer scared me! I wouldn't want to meet someone whose first inclination was to pull out his gun....

Can you describe the soreness? I used to try jogging on the road and found that my feet would cramp up and become so stiff and painful that I would have to stop and just stand there. I'd limp home and massage my feet. I then discovered that I needed to stretch out the calf muscles (see Stretch 1 -…

I watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel recently and there was a wonderful quote by the Indian character Sonny: "Everything will be all right in the end. So if it is not all right, then it is not yet the end." Your journey hasn't finished yet, and your body/lifestyle isn't like a machine. It has its ups and downs, and…

It's also possible that they are having difficulty trying to figure out how to be supportive without suggesting that you don't already look good. I find that I don't ever want to give a friend the impression that she doesn't look great just as she is i.e. I don't want to encourage her to have a poor body image if she is…

Was curious, so I went to Youtube to find this Bieber song you mentioned. Uhm... I'm not gay, so, I can't comment on that. But, for me that song is pretty awful. I wouldn't even be able to work out to it. I do have Just Dance on my workout list tho.

I go to bed around 9:30pm and do a spot of reading for 30min. I have to admit that I haven't been following the eating plan "exactly". For example, I eat porridge for breakfast every morning rather than egg whites just because I need to make sure that I have enough energy to study during the daytime etc. I do stick to…

Then he should see a physiotherapist for advice on how to get started on an exercise program. He might end up starting with band exercises rather than full on weights.

Permanently broken or something that is healing?? A trip to the Doctor for advice is something that I would recommend you start with.

We were too wiped out at the end of the wedding to get up to anything. We stayed in a fancy hotel, but the highlight of that night was to take off my shoes and have a long hot shower and then sit on the bed in my hotel robe and eat some chocolate.... :ohwell: I can totally recommend that you wear in your shoes e.g. wear…

Though participants typically lost weight over the eight week diet, most regained a substantial amount of it over the next year and many reported feeling hungrier and more food obsessed than before the diet. "That's because, according to the study, the participants' brains released hormones making them feel like they were…

Why not ask a trainer at your gym to put a training program together for you?
