I've been very ill but I'm back. My story is so complicated that I don't know how to introduce myself. Should you want, I included some of it under my edited profile. Thanks.

Feel free to add me!

I'm looking for smart funny friends who understand what advancing age can do to attempts to lose weight.

I would love to find some smart funny friends who know the impact of advancing age on trying to lose weight.

Thanks to everyone for the friendship offers. They mean a lot.

Lululinca, I added you as a friend.

You are right that I shouldn't make excuses but I'm not. My daughter is sick, my husband has had a horrific heart attack and the buck stops with me. I have no family other than those I support.

It's probably not important but the photo that accompanied my previous post is not me. I'm not sure who or what it is.

Thanks SO much for answering! I do leave my hair wet and I don't wash out the conditioner before putting on my cap. I will try to find the Triswim products for my skin.

Thanks, JenMc. I'm eating at a slight caloric deficit and I'm losing weight. I'm sure that I'll lose weight from my abs as well as other places. What I had been wondering was whether there were specific exercises that could tone one's abs in a crunch (sorry, bad pun).

SW: 162 CW: 141.5 GW: 125 I'm hoping that it's not too late for me to join. Five pounds in three weeks sounds like a lot. Is it doable for a post-menopausal woman?

I've been trying but I am hindered by a torn nerve in my neck, wrecked shoulder and two damaged knees from a fall early last January. Hence, exercise is limited for me. While I've stopped weighing myself, I do look thinner simply from eating very lightly and getting used to it. I look forward to being able to exercise…

I can usually get my lower back to crack by sitting up straight and then rotating my spine as though it is a corkscrew.

Actually, I've only had a few weird or off-putting reactions to my vegetarianism. Several years back, after a stay in Paris and the French countryside, a friend who lived in Paris told me to give up trying to find a vegetarian meal in that city--particularly late at night. I found one just find. Then there was the time…

When I was a kid I realized that eating animals felt so wrong to me that I was killing off a part of myself--my sensitivity to all living beings--in order to eat the meat my parents forced me to consume.

A warm hello from New York City!:flowerforyou:

Thanks for inviting me! Any others from NYC here?

Lentils. You read right. I go to Trader Joe's and buy precooked, refrigerated lentils. They're nutty (in the taste sense!) and wonderfully filling. Just separate them with a fork and add a good balsamic vinegar and some extra virgin olive oil. Sometimes I throw in a bit of fresh sage, sometimes precrumbled feta cheese and…

My mom was 4'11" and her weight was generally around 95. Throughout her life, she ate as much as she wanted and her weight self-maintained. She died quickly of cancer in her mid-70s but before she became ill, she was quite athletic. She had a tiny bone structure and a nicely toned physique. She was certainly not skinny.

Yes, when I was very young. Then I learned that alcohol could make me do things that I wanted to do but knew that I probably shouldn't. Now I don't much at all and I miss the mischief. Bummer! :drinker:

I'm not sure that winter exists in NYC anymore, but should it appear when I'm in the park walking or, maybe (someday) again running, my staples would include: mist-free goggles or sunglasses because my eyes tear when it's cold long underwear for my legs wind pants some sort of moisture-wicking top with long sleeves a nylon…

And a party that's good for you!

Your husband is acting out in so many ways that I don't know how you can keep track of them. He is manipulative and will stop at nothing to get his way. Get yourself and your kids to safety, somewhere unknown to him. Get an order of protection. Do not see him alone. Limit your telephone contact to text. He hasn't abused…

I know about "willpower drift." I sent you a friend request.

What I left out was that I want to exercise but I am concerned that I will end up more encumbered than I am now.

Thanks, Chris. I recently returned from vacation five pounds heavier than when I left. Now I REALLY want to up my exercise but with patellar injuries, cysts and significant arthritis in both knees my rheumatologist is advising that I do no more than ride a recumbent bike. And so I find the study that you cite quite…

Chika, it perhaps shouldn't matter but it does. I believe that you should remove your nail polish before the interview. Should you be hired and once you've proven your mettle, evaluate how conservative the "corporate" atmosphere is and proceed from there. Good luck!
