  • Thanks - I'm 27 (nearly 28) :-)
  • I don't think I'd like that either - too plain. I usually grate an apple and sprinkle cinnamon in mine, as well as equal parts of oats, milk and Greek yoghurt. Chia seeds if I have them.
  • For me, too much restriction is a barrier to me actually getting out there and moving. I swear I rebel against strict timetables and then I get cranky and downhearted. Currently I am doing a half marathon training program plus my usual dog walking. I like to run four shorter runs (but I can drop one if I am busy with uni)…
  • I'll admit that I've never stretched. :o I always walk briskly for at least five minutes before run and cool down with another walk afterwards. I'm not saying to take my advice - I've always wondered if I'll regret not stretching but I haven't had any issues yet. And I'm increasing my distance at the moment.
  • My older girl Grace (stafford in my avatar), my problem child Abby (chi x) and four chooks (Ruby, Philippa, Nanette and Fay). Oh, and a part-timer - my grandmother's whippet Locke who is also my jogging partner.
  • Mmm... I think I'd either go the rocky road one or the pav one. That is a hard choice.
  • That is awesome. :-) I'm not quite sure what the obsession is with a number on the scale to be honest, but somehow it seems so very important? I will start taking progress pics for sure. It's quite likely that I won't care about scales if I can see progress with my body.
  • Thanks Lorina. The only thing I don't really do is progress pics. I may have to start. I've been of the mindset lately that I need to have fitness goals because if I just have 'weight loss' goals it tends to work against me and I sweat over the small stuff. Just starting a half marathon training plan, so that should keep…
  • Thank you, I will give TDEE -10% a try. Happy to really. :-) I don't think it's water weight though, as I tend to eat fairly well - sure I have my moments, but overall I'm pretty happy with how I eat most of the time. Not a lot of packaged foods. I go by the 80/20 rule roughly. My diary is open as well if anyone is…
  • I know in my heart that I do not want children. I'm about to become an aunty for the first time and I'm so, so excited. Over the moon. But I know I don't want children of my own. At my age (27) people say I will change my mind. I just smile and let them think that. I know there is nothing wrong with me, I just have no…
  • I'm Australian, so I really just have the Christmas/New Year Period to contend with. Honestly, I'm just going to enjoy it. We normally have cold roast meats and salads - some really healthy ones and some down-right calorific ones. But nothing that I wouldn't feel comfortably eating anyway. It's just really nice home cooked…
  • I'm not on 1200, so it's probably not that helpful, but I pre-log what I plan to eat for the day. The size of my meals is completely dependent on what I feel like eating and what I feel I should be eating nutrition-wise (trying to get a wide variety in my diet). Today I'm only having a small breakfast (145), a slightly…
  • It's the RDA %, so if you hit 100, that's 100% of your daily intake. For example, the yoghurt I'm having today has 50% of my daily intake. When I've adding products to the database in the past, that's how calcium is listed - as a percentage. On nutritional labels it's usually listed as a percentage and as a amount - ie…
  • Mine is open, and I am pretty active at logging so feel free to add. :-)
  • Unless I was genuinely not hungry by dinner (unlikely!) I would just have a light meal. Examples for me would be a tuna/chicken/egg and salad wrap or just the salad and protein, or some steamed veges with some protein. I'm not really into exercising because I have no more calories, because I like to see exercise as…
  • Emily. I love it. It's traditional, but beautiful. It's common, but I think it can get away with it because it's so timeless. My parents couldn't decide between Emily and Emma, so they went with Emily but I am known as Emma (never Emily) by my family. Professionally I am known as Emily. Friends call me Em or Emily.
  • Rest days are good for you and a necessary part of being active. I know I struggled with the idea when I first started becoming more active, but really I ended up biting off more than I could chew lol. For myself, I've had to think about this in terms of sustainable behaviour change over time. If I try to go out and work…
  • What to do at Christmas? Enjoy the meal. Eat what you want. Don't eat what you don't want to eat. It's Christmas! :-)
  • Lol, you've got a vivid imagination. I'm so glad you didn't get eaten by feral cats! It's far from the worst thing that could happen on a run, but on Wednesday I went running with the local club and the course they had mapped out had us going over the bridge. I have a mild uneasiness of bridges (far from a full blown…
  • Cambodia New Zealand Hungary but I could name many, many more. 'Tis but a sample of places I want to visit!
  • Most of the people that have commented have been my customers at work - some are daily regulars, others are weekly, monthly etc, so they see the big difference (I lost a fair bit of weight pre-MFP. I was 235lbs, now I'm 143lbs). A lot of people have asked this question. I just say that I'm making healthier choices in food…
  • 1. What did you have for breakfast? Protein 1st cereal, blueberries and easiyo Greek Yoghurt 2 small pieces of rye bread with a 1/4 avocado, vegemite and a sprinkling of pine nuts. 2. How much water do you drink per day? Depends on the season to be honest - in the cooler months only 1.5 - 2.5L and in the warmer months…
  • Thanks so much for your help. :-) Sounds pretty positive for the run/swim/run approach. That is good to know about Hal Higdon Wolfchild and I agree - really cool! I didn't even notice a forum on the website - I was so busy looking at the different plans.
  • Sounds like me, except I haven't reached 8 or 9 mile runs yet. It'll be interesting to see if I feel any difference.
  • Nothing can beat the taste of fresh vegetables in season, but I always have a few packets of frozen veggies for days when I just couldn't be bothered with prep or I have a really busy schedule. I also sometimes buy fresh veggies on special in bulk and cut them up and freeze them when I get home. I'm really not into wasting…
  • It depends. On my short/easy runs or dog walks - no. I think my appetite stays pretty much the same. After a particular intense run or a long run. I don't feel particularly hungry on that day. But the next day I do, so I allow myself to eat back the calories I burned the day before if I so desire.
  • Oooh, tough one. I use a lot! I love cinnamon in my oats. I love tarragon with chicken. I use a lot of cumin Garlic in nearly everything Chill flakes I love the freshness of ginger, but don't use it nearly as much as I would like. I use others, but not on a regular basis. It's one thing I would like to experiment a bit…
  • Wonderful! :-) You must be so stoked that all your hard work is paying off and you had fun! Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning.
  • I'm giving this recipe a try because it seems easy and colourful. Found in a Delicious magazine - Spanish fish stew Cook 1 large onion, 1 large stick of celery in 2 tbs of olive oil. Add 2 cloves garlic, 1 tsp paprika, 1 large capsicum and cook until soft and fragrant. Pour in 250ml white wine and reduce down slightly. Add…
