I was diagnosed hypoglycemic by my pcp and not referred to an endocrinologist or a dietician. I actually wasn't given a referral to my endo until eleven years after my diagnosis. I was just told to control it with a low glycemic diet and to eat sugar when i was low. It wasn't until I got older and was able to do my own…

brawndo! every time i get a powerade or something i walk around saying "its got what plants crave, its got electrolytes"

I'm low carb and made a broccoli cheddar soup that was 258 calories per cup. going low carb doesn't automatically cut calorie high foods. it cuts calorie high carbs, i guess. but those will probably be replaced with calorie high fats. i wish i could lose half of a pound a day!!

i honestly don't think some people have a true understanding of what cico actually means..
-
but you gotsta worry bout that ketoacidosis, dontcha know!!!!! ;) haha. why the ignorant find the need to give advice, i will never know.
-
have you seen idiocracy? i don't think the derp is going anywhere.

"I could maintain my carb count and increase my calorie count.. and continue to lose weight at the level i have been." this is where the defying physics comes in. if you increase your calorie count you can not continue losing at the same rate..unless you meant to say increase your calories by some insignificant amount that…

you are so defensive when it comes to low carbers... in every thread. just relax. not everyone is out to call carbs junk or satan. my body doesn't take well to them. doesn't make them bad for everyone. i know that. you don't want people to say all carbs are bad but you usually come in insinuating that all low carbers…

my protein decreased slightly with low carb.

At your worst, did you see yourself as obese/unfit? yes, definitely. What were your go to excuses to be that way? blood sugar/reactive hypoglycemia. i could not get it under control and had to eat in order to correct the lows. i was eating moderate carb/low glycemic load foods and still crashing. i couldn't do moderate…

not saying only low carbers feel full at all but its an actual benefit for me..because..medical condition. i do not feel full without lowering my carbs. i am constantly hungry if i eat carbs. low blood sugar can do that to a person. so, different for everyone.
-
N- normal.. whatever that means.
-
I'm at 20-25% protein..so approximately 74-100g depending on my calorie intake.
-
this is where i take issue.. its all about low carb high protein and not about low carb high fat. those who are at ketogenic levels of low carb are generally/should also be eating high fat..which is not covered by this study.
-
i would be interested in that, as well. do you mean just high protein vs lchf or high protein low carb? eta//nvm late
-
haha. ok. i was going to say..i guess hypoglycemia was my excuse. :)
-
Low blood sugar is twisted fatlogic/an excuse??

I agree. I know this is off topic but I have to mention it..because I went through a lot of bs before I was helped. Things like hypoglycemia can go undiagnosed even with relevant tests. For example, my A1C was 5.3 in October. My fasting blood glucose is generally 73-90. That's all normal. Yet I can't eat even moderate…

Fat helps me with satiety. I sometimes struggle to eat 1200 calories when my fat macros are up.

Yes. If it's late and I don't feel like actually making something..i take a shot.

Just because you have a friend with pcos who eats high carb and still loses does not mean that everyone is the same. It's not a one size fits all thing where medical conditions are concerned.

Protein is limited as well.. My limitation is calculated by how many calories I choose to eat. I strive for 5% carb 23% protein and 72% fat.
-
I do shots of hemp oil occasionally to get my fat macros up.

This. A week of low carb is mostly water weight. I lost 7lbs my first week. Water.

I'm low carb (keto) and believe in cico. If I eat more than I should, I gain..just like everyone else. Keto works better for me than calorie counting alone because I have reactive hypoglycemia. ;)

This. And man.. 40s are no fun. OP: Firstly, I have to mention I am not a type 2..i'm a hypoglycemic. How often are you testing your bg? Do you notice any large drops within a short period of time? If so, you can feel hypoglycemic symptoms even without going lower than 70. Also, with what wils said..its common to feel too…
