Hey all, So I'm 18, 5'8", and 210 lbs. I'm pretty active, but I could definetly use a strong support system to reach my ultimate goal of 150 lbs and a size 8. I would also like to get in better shape for sports and just all around life. So if anybody is about the same as me, just give a holler!

thanks everybody!

Yay!!!!! I finally made it down to 200! If I can lose 5 more pounds, then I'll be the size I was 2 years ago! Stay strong everybody!

It could also be from drinking too much water too fast. I know that I get bad cramps when I'm playing sports and I chug too much water, so maybe you could focus on taking little sips of water more often, instead of gulps

I've stayed at the same weight too this week (205). I was kind of stuck in an exercise rut last week and ate waaay over my calorie limit on most days. But this week should get me back in action: Monday (today): 70 minutes of lacrosse Tuesday: 70 minutes of lacrosse Wednesday: lacrosse Thursday: lacrosse Friday: lacrosse,…

You could try joining a sports team or an exercise group. The personal motivation of being part of a group could help motivate you to push it to the limit. I know in my area there're a lot of adult teams like crew and tennis and soccer, so I'm sure there are a few hidden gems in your neck of the woods. Hope this helps!

i definetly did not do as well as i planned, probably due to various parties, that time of the mount, and bad weather that cancelled all of my exercise activities... but im back on track for this week, so its all good. good luck guys!

You could also try doing some cardio on a recumbant bike

I play basketball 5-6 days a week for 2 hours and lacrosse on Sunday for an hour. I also go to the gym about once every week or so. Switching your workouts definetly helps in weightloss...not only does it keep your body guessing, but it's a lot more fun for you!

It's definetly great exercise, especially if you can vary up the terrain you're walking

There are many websites out there where there are some good and simple weight training movies. I would reccomend ivillage.com, womenshealthmag.com, and shape.com. If you aren't sure whether you want to spend money on hand weights, then soup cans or water bottles filled with sand/rocks work really well.

I love Nikes, but I've found that women's Nikes run narrow. I would go to a specialty store and see what they have to say, so you can invest in the best shoes for your feet.

You have to train yourself so that your body adjusts to going to bed at an earlier time. I would suggest that you get everything you need done and try to get ready for bed around an hour earlier. Do things that would make you relax: take a warm shower, drink some herbal tea, read a book, etc. All of these activities will…

Make sure that you ice very very often. My soccer coach reccommends 15 minutes on and then about 30 minutes off, doing this for a couple of hours with any kind of muscle or joint injury. Also, it is important that you do not run or put any stress on your shins and legs for a few weeks so that they have time to heal...shin…

being a teen myself, i find that everything you said is absolutely true. a body is something that needs to be treasured and taken care of. im an athlete, so i cant function on a 1200 calorie diet (let alone 500!), and i need to eat more calories that most people would to try and lose weight. its also important to remember…

i have the exact same problem. i personally am a fan of breaking up my cardio into segments: ill jog or power walk for 15 minutes, do my weight training, and then go and do 15 minutes on the elliptical machine. its a short enough time that i dont get incredibly bored, but still get in all of the work out that i need.
-
i cant find it either...i always enter mine in based on what the machine tells me at the gym

this'll keep me accountable... current weight: 205 goal weight by valentine's day: 195 good luck everyone!

thanks!

So I'm still in highschool and have basketball practice afterschool everyday. We go pretty hard and I always work up a good sweat, but I was wondering if this would be categorized under basketball game or general basketball. Thanks!
