Thank you all so much-- this is super helpful advice! I'm glad the dumbbell OHP is as good as the barbell. Also, I just found a gym buddy who's going to start working out with me next week, in part to help me feel a little less awkward going in to the "man cave" (I'm sure I'll get over this stupid intimidation factor…

This is my all-time favorite lentil recipe! http://www.kayotic.nl/blog/curried-lentil-soup It's not very "soupy" when I make it, so it's more like a stew. Also try it with sweet potato instead of regular potato-- equally divine.

Years ago I tried a crock pot recipe for "orange chicken." It tasted, quite literally and without hyperbole, like vomit.

Regenerations are always bittersweet-- I'm sad to see one go, and excited to see who comes in. *Really* hoping for a Doctor of color (and I don't mean "ginger") this time around, maybe someone like Lennie James!

I make overnight oats every night, and rotate through flavors. Here are some to get you started: http://www.theyummylife.com/Refrigerator_Oatmeal I also like to make a "mocha" flavor with instant coffee and chocolate chips, and recently I made a pineapple coconut one that was really good.

I used to be, and I'd love to be down there again! Currently sitting at 203 (down from 207), and I'm 5'6". My goal is 150, which is at the high end of the "healthy range," but like you I carry my weight well (when I weighed 160, I wanted to lose weight, and my friend said "from where?!"). Feel free to add me-- I'm getting…

I'm not a big fan of hot oatmeal, but have you tried "overnight oats"? SWOON. I love these. http://www.theyummylife.com/Refrigerator_Oatmeal I like to make a "mocha" version with about 1/2 Tablespoon instant coffee and a small amount of chocolate chips. I also really like the peanut butter banana one on the page linked…

May 1 weigh-in: 207.2! Somehow I gained 6 lbs in two weeks?! And I'm now above my original starting weight back in January. So let's see how much I lose this month... ugh.

Usually I do leftovers from the night before (assuming facilities like a fridge and a microwave aren't an issue). In fact, I tend to cook extra servings of everything so I always have something on hand. On Saturday, for example, I made a big pot of sausage and veggie minestrone, which comes to about 280 cals a serving. The…

I love making shakes and smoothies! Here are three of my favorites: Chocolate Banana shake: 0.75 cups chocolate milk 1 medium banana 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder, if desired a few ice cubes Blend away! Spinach PB Banana smoothie (a variation on the Green Monster): 0.75 cups milk of choice (I usually use…

What a great idea! I am going to try to make Swedish meatballs à la Ikea. I had planned on making them a little later in the month but I'll move it up in my meal plan to Sunday. :) I think I'm going to try this recipe: http://www.deananddiana.com/2012/10/recipe-swedish-meatballs.html At some point I also want to make my…

Hi everyone! I'm Jen, 30, originally from CA (Bay Area) but now living in frosty Illinois. I have a major sweet tooth, a major salt tooth (is that a thing?) and I live in one of the most restaurant-dense areas I've ever seen. I know how to cook-- in fact, I'm fairly decent at it-- but It's just so easy and delicious to get…

Apples. Dunno why but I never liked them so much. This includes raw apple, applesauce, and cooked apples. Even slathered in peanut butter. Also really not a fan of pie (I think it's mostly the crust). Apple pie is therefore pretty much my version of food hell.

Loaded baked potato-- my version doesn't use a million pounds of butter, which makes it awesome / sad. Sorry this recipe is so rough-- I've made it so many times now that I don't really do measurements, but here's my guess: 4+ servings 4-6 Russett potatoes, cubed (I leave the skin on) 1 small onion, diced 6 strips (turkey)…

Batman. But only because Dr. Manhattan is not an option.

Sure you can. But from the way you asked I got the impression there were underlying factors. Apologies if I misinterpreted.

Picking fictional characters is perhaps not the best way of illustrating your point-- and anyway, if you haven't seen them naked, you can't know for sure. Besides, I'm not really sure what your point in asking about this is. Are you trying to prove a correlation between social position / occupation and tattooing? Between…

Congrats on your loss so far! Fantastic! I totally understand where you're coming from; it seems every time I start exercising something happens to my body that forces me to stop. Like you I have (or had) chondromalacia / patellofemoral syndrome, and I've also badly sprained both ankles on separate occasions, experienced…

Everything about this is awesome. :D We are a two-cat family: Tikka the Wondercat (black dsh) and Alfred Hitchcat (orange tabby dsh with white socks). Edit: picture!

My friends and I would take over the jukebox at a bar in town every Wednesday night for what we called "Wiggedy Wack Wednesdays," and we played all the songs already mentioned!
